0:00 - 0:06and now in the name of our loving
-
0:02 - 0:13liberating and life-giving God Father
-
0:06 - 0:18Son and Holy Spirit a man from the Song
-
0:13 - 0:23of Solomon in the Bible set me as a seal
-
0:18 - 0:28upon your heart as a seal upon your arm
-
0:23 - 0:30the love is as strong as death passion
-
0:28 - 0:36fears as the grave
-
0:30 - 0:40it's flashes of flashes of fire a raging
-
0:36 - 0:47flame many waters cannot quench love
-
0:40 - 0:51neither can floods drown it out the late
-
0:47 - 0:55dr. Martin Luther King once said in that
-
0:51 - 1:02quote we must discover the power of love
-
0:55 - 1:07the redemptive power of love and when we
-
1:02 - 1:15do that we will make of this old world a
-
1:07 - 1:15new world but love love is the only way
-
1:16 - 1:24there's power in love don't
-
1:20 - 1:30underestimate don't even over
-
1:24 - 1:36sentimentalize it there's power power in
-
1:30 - 1:40love if you don't believe me think about
-
1:36 - 1:43a time when you first fell in love the
-
1:40 - 1:48whole world seemed to center around you
-
1:43 - 1:53and your beloved well this power power
-
1:48 - 1:58in love not just in its romantic forms
-
1:53 - 2:01but any form any shape of love there's a
-
1:58 - 2:05certain sense in which when you are
-
2:01 - 2:06loved and you know it when someone cares
-
2:05 - 2:11for you and you know
-
2:06 - 2:14when you love and you show it it
-
2:11 - 2:17actually feels right there's something
-
2:14 - 2:19right about it and there's a reason for
-
2:17 - 2:23it
-
2:19 - 2:27the reason has to do with the source we
-
2:23 - 2:29were made by a power of love and our
-
2:27 - 2:32lives were meant and are meant to be
-
2:29 - 2:37lived in that love that's why we were we
-
2:32 - 2:42are here ultimately the source of love
-
2:37 - 2:46is God Himself the source of all of our
-
2:42 - 2:50lives there's an old medieval poem that
-
2:46 - 2:54that says where true love is found God
-
2:50 - 2:57Himself is there the New Testament says
-
2:54 - 3:01it this way beloved let us love one
-
2:57 - 3:04another because love is of God and those
-
3:01 - 3:07who love are born of God and know God
-
3:04 - 3:13those who do not love do not know God
-
3:07 - 3:17for god is love there's power in love
-
3:13 - 3:21there's power in love to help and heal
-
3:17 - 3:26when nothing else can there's power in
-
3:21 - 3:32love to lift up and liberate nothing
-
3:26 - 3:37else will there's power to show us the
-
3:32 - 3:44way to live set me as a seal on your
-
3:37 - 3:50heart a seal on your heart for love it's
-
3:44 - 3:55as strong as death but but love is not
-
3:50 - 3:57only about a young couple now the power
-
3:55 - 4:00of love is demonstrated by the fact that
-
3:57 - 4:04we're all here to young people fell in
-
4:00 - 4:07love and we all showed up but but it's
-
4:04 - 4:12not just for and about a young couple
-
4:07 - 4:15who we rejoice with it's more than that
-
4:12 - 4:18Jesus of Nazareth on one occasion was
-
4:15 - 4:21asked by a lawyer to sum up the essence
-
4:18 - 4:23of the teachings of Moses and and and
-
4:21 - 4:26and he went back and reached back into
-
4:23 - 4:28the Hebrew Scriptures to Deuteronomy and
-
4:26 - 4:30Leviticus and Jesus said you shall love
-
4:28 - 4:32the Lord your God with all your heart
-
4:30 - 4:35all your soul all your mind and all your
-
4:32 - 4:38strength this is the first and Great
-
4:35 - 4:41Commandment and the second is like it
-
4:38 - 4:45love your neighbor as yourself and then
-
4:41 - 4:47in Matthews version he said on these two
-
4:45 - 4:52love of God and love of neighbor hang
-
4:47 - 4:54all the law all the prophets that Moses
-
4:52 - 4:57wrote everything is the holy prophets
-
4:54 - 5:02everything everything that God has been
-
4:57 - 5:06trying to tell the world love God love
-
5:02 - 5:11your neighbors and why you edit love
-
5:06 - 5:15yourself know someone once said that
-
5:11 - 5:18Jesus began the most revolutionary
-
5:15 - 5:21movement in all of human history a
-
5:18 - 5:27movement grounded in the unconditional
-
5:21 - 5:33love of God for the world and a movement
-
5:27 - 5:37mandating people to live that love and
-
5:33 - 5:41in so doing to change that of only their
-
5:37 - 5:45lives but the very life of the world
-
5:41 - 5:53itself I'm talking about some power
-
5:45 - 5:58legal power power to change the world if
-
5:53 - 6:01you don't believe me well there were
-
5:58 - 6:05small slaves in America's antebellum
-
6:01 - 6:07South who explained the dynamic power of
-
6:05 - 6:09love and why it has the power to
-
6:07 - 6:12transform they explained it this way
-
6:09 - 6:14they sang a spiritual even in the midst
-
6:12 - 6:17of their captivity it's one that says
-
6:14 - 6:18there is a balm and giving a healing
-
6:17 - 6:21balm something that can make things
-
6:18 - 6:24right there is a balm in Gilead to make
-
6:21 - 6:28the wounded whole there is a balm in
-
6:24 - 6:30Gilead to heal the sick soul and one of
-
6:28 - 6:33the things actually explains why they
-
6:30 - 6:37said if you cannot preach like Peter and
-
6:33 - 6:41you cannot pray like Paul you just tell
-
6:37 - 6:44the love of Jesus how he died to save us
-
6:41 - 6:49oh oh that's the balm in Gilead this way
-
6:44 - 6:52of love is the way of life they got it
-
6:49 - 6:54he died to save us all he didn't die for
-
6:52 - 6:56anything he could get out of it
-
6:54 - 7:00Jesus did not get an honorary Doctorate
-
6:56 - 7:01for dying he didn't he wasn't getting
-
7:00 - 7:03anything out of it
-
7:01 - 7:06he gave up his life he sacrificed his
-
7:03 - 7:08life for the good of others for the good
-
7:06 - 7:12of the other for the well-being of the
-
7:08 - 7:15world for us that's what love is love is
-
7:12 - 7:21not selfish and so centered love can be
-
7:15 - 7:27sacrificial and in so doing becomes
-
7:21 - 7:32redemptive in that way of one selfish
-
7:27 - 7:38sacrificial redemptive love changes
-
7:32 - 7:41lives and can change this world if you
-
7:38 - 7:44don't believe me just just stopping
-
7:41 - 7:52thing for imagine think
-
7:44 - 7:58and imagine well he can imagine a world
-
7:52 - 8:02where love is the way imagine our homes
-
7:58 - 8:07and families when love is the way
-
8:02 - 8:10imagine neighborhoods and communities
-
8:07 - 8:15where love is the way it
-
8:10 - 8:18imagine governments and nations where
-
8:15 - 8:23love is the way imagine business and
-
8:18 - 8:26commerce when love is the way imagine
-
8:23 - 8:29this tired old world when love is is the
-
8:26 - 8:32way when love is the way unselfish
-
8:29 - 8:35sacrificial redemptive when love is the
-
8:32 - 8:38way then no child will go to bed hungry
-
8:35 - 8:41in this world ever again when love is
-
8:38 - 8:44the way we will let justice roll down
-
8:41 - 8:47like a mighty stream and righteousness
-
8:44 - 8:50like an ever-flowing group and love is
-
8:47 - 8:54the way poverty will become history
-
8:50 - 8:59when the love is the way the earth will
-
8:54 - 9:01be a sanctuary and love is the way we
-
8:59 - 9:06will lay down our swords and shields
-
9:01 - 9:13down by the riverside to study War no
-
9:06 - 9:18more when love is the way there's plenty
-
9:13 - 9:25good room got a good room for all of
-
9:18 - 9:31God's children love is the way we
-
9:25 - 9:36actually treat each other well like
-
9:31 - 9:37we're actually family when love is the
-
9:36 - 9:41way
-
9:37 - 9:47we know that God is the source of us all
-
9:41 - 9:54and we are brothers and sisters children
-
9:47 - 9:59of God my brothers and sisters that's a
-
9:54 - 10:05new heaven a new earth a new world a new
-
9:59 - 10:08human family and let me tell you
-
10:05 - 10:13something old Solomon was right in the
-
10:08 - 10:13Old Testament that's fire
-
10:13 - 10:20they are decied on and with this I will
-
10:16 - 10:20sit down we got to get you all married
-
10:20 - 10:27French Jesuit ard showdown was arguably
-
10:25 - 10:31one of the great minds great spirits of
-
10:27 - 10:36the 20th century Jesuit Roman Catholic
-
10:31 - 10:39priest scientists a scholar a mystic in
-
10:36 - 10:41some of his writings he said from his
-
10:39 - 10:44scientific background as well as his
-
10:41 - 10:47theological one some of his writings has
-
10:44 - 10:49said as others have that the discovery
-
10:47 - 10:51or invention or harnessing of fire was
-
10:49 - 10:53one of the great one of the great
-
10:51 - 10:58scientific and technological discoveries
-
10:53 - 11:01in all of human history fire to a great
-
10:58 - 11:04extent made human civilization possible
-
11:01 - 11:07fire made it possible to cook food and
-
11:04 - 11:10and to provide sanitary ways of eating
-
11:07 - 11:13which reduced the spread of disease in
-
11:10 - 11:16its time fire made it possible to to
-
11:13 - 11:19heat warm environment and thereby made
-
11:16 - 11:22human migration around the world a
-
11:19 - 11:26possibility even into colder climates
-
11:22 - 11:29fire made it possible there is no there
-
11:26 - 11:31was no Bronze Age without fire no Iron
-
11:29 - 11:34Age without fire no Industrial
-
11:31 - 11:36Revolution without fire the advances of
-
11:34 - 11:39science and technology are greatly
-
11:36 - 11:42dependent on the human ability and
-
11:39 - 11:46capacity to take fire and use it for
-
11:42 - 11:50human good anybody get here in a car
-
11:46 - 11:52today an automobile knock your heads if
-
11:50 - 11:55you did I'm guessing I know there were
-
11:52 - 11:58some carriages but those of us who came
-
11:55 - 12:01on cars fire the controlled harnessed
-
11:58 - 12:04fire made that possible I know that the
-
12:01 - 12:06Bible says I believe Jesus walked on the
-
12:04 - 12:08water but I have to tell you I didn't
-
12:06 - 12:09walk across the Atlantic Ocean to get
-
12:08 - 12:12here
-
12:09 - 12:14controlled fire in that plane got me
-
12:12 - 12:17here fire makes it possible for us to
-
12:14 - 12:19text and tweet an email and Instagram
-
12:17 - 12:24and and Facebook and socially be
-
12:19 - 12:27dysfunctional with each other fire all
-
12:24 - 12:30of that possible and and de Chardin said
-
12:27 - 12:33fire was one of the greatest discoveries
-
12:30 - 12:36in all of human history and he then went
-
12:33 - 12:40on to say that if humanity ever
-
12:36 - 12:45harnesses the energy of fire again if
-
12:40 - 12:49humanity ever captures the energy of
-
12:45 - 12:54love it will be the second time in
-
12:49 - 13:00history that we have discovered fire
-
12:54 - 13:05dr. King was right we must discover love
-
13:00 - 13:10the redemptive power of love and when we
-
13:05 - 13:18do that we will make of this old world a
-
13:10 - 13:27new world my brother my sister
-
13:18 - 13:34God love you god bless you and may God
-
13:27 - 13:36hold us all in those Almighty hands of
-
13:34 - 13:36love
