Hi.
-
Applause
-
I'm kind of nervous
-
because I have a confession to make
-
I'm not actually a developer
-
So my topic today is
-
Why UX?
-
Why it should matter to developers
-
I actually struggle with this problem at work
-
... quite a bit.
-
When I talk to people in the tech team
-
One programmer even told me the other day
-
"There are no rules in design"
-
Imagine if I said the same thing
-
"There are no rules in programming"
-
Yes, so I'm just going to share a bit about UX
-
and hopefully sort of convince
-
you guys to being concerned with it.
-
So, UX is actually short for User Experiences
-
and they're taking place around us every day
-
We interact constantly with products
-
both digital and physical
-
Doesn't mean that it has to be a tangible thing
-
It can also be intangible
-
And while we use these things
-
we are actually attempting to accomplish..
-
a goal.
-
This attempt to accomplish a goal
-
leads to us having a user experience.
-
And it can be a bad one. Yeah.
-
This is what the design VP of AirBnB said..
-
"Engineers create things and
-
bring concepts to life."
-
I think the same thing is true for developers.
-
Developers also create things and
-
bring concepts to life.
-
So when developing your product,
-
could be an app or a site
-
User experience is usually a part of the
-
design process that we don't hear about
-
unless something goes wrong.
-
But it's actually something that should be
-
an integral part of the design process
-
right from the very start.
-
And all the way until you get your
-
final product.
-
So, what is UX actually?
