Teachers: Celebrating Student Success with Khanmigo

  • 0:00 - 0:03
    - So our learning outcomes today,
  • 0:03 - 0:05
    I want to empower you
  • 0:05 - 0:07
    to leverage Khanmigo's capabilities.
  • 0:07 - 0:10
    That's really what this
    learning workshop series
  • 0:10 - 0:12
    has been all about.
  • 0:12 - 0:15
As a teacher, getting some of that time
  • 0:15 - 0:17
    back for the administrative task
  • 0:17 - 0:19
    and getting that thought partner
  • 0:19 - 0:21
to help you in making those decisions.
  • 0:21 - 0:24
And one way that I want you to really take
  • 0:24 - 0:27
    and think about today
  • 0:27 - 0:30
    is leveraging Khanmigo's capabilities
  • 0:30 - 0:31
    to gain deeper insights
  • 0:31 - 0:34
    into your student
    understanding and progress.
  • 0:34 - 0:37
    So we've gotta identify
    where your students are
  • 0:37 - 0:38
in order for you to celebrate
  • 0:38 - 0:41
    how far that they've come.
  • 0:41 - 0:43
And so during our time today,
  • 0:43 - 0:46
we are gonna learn about how to identify
  • 0:46 - 0:49
both outstanding examples of student work
  • 0:49 - 0:52
    and specific areas where
    students can improve
  • 0:52 - 0:56
    through using Khanmigo's
    feedback and analytics.
  • 0:56 - 0:58
We're gonna share and equip each other
  • 0:58 - 0:59
    with practical strategies
  • 0:59 - 1:02
    for effectively celebrating
    student achievement.
  • 1:02 - 1:03
    And we're also going
  • 1:03 - 1:06
to foster a positive learning environment.
  • 1:06 - 1:08
I want to make a note today
  • 1:08 - 1:10
    that today's session is short.
  • 1:10 - 1:12
It is just a brief 30 minutes.
  • 1:12 - 1:14
And so we are going to highlight
  • 1:14 - 1:17
some features directly in Khan Academy
  • 1:17 - 1:19
    and Khanmigo that are connected
  • 1:19 - 1:21
    to the partnerships.
  • 1:21 - 1:25
I do want to say we'll also highlight
  • 1:25 - 1:27
    some resources and
    strategies that any teachers
  • 1:27 - 1:29
    can use to support
  • 1:29 - 1:31
    and celebrate student learning.
  • 1:31 - 1:34
So my challenge to you this afternoon
  • 1:34 - 1:37
is to listen for maybe that one thing.
  • 1:37 - 1:39
    What is your one thing
  • 1:39 - 1:42
that you are either missing in your room
  • 1:42 - 1:43
    or it is something
  • 1:43 - 1:45
that is just not working the way
  • 1:45 - 1:47
that you want it to work?
  • 1:47 - 1:49
And what is something that you hear today
  • 1:49 - 1:51
    that you can take away
  • 1:51 - 1:54
    in utilize in your classroom?
  • 1:54 - 1:55
And so we're first gonna start
  • 1:55 - 1:58
    with Khanmigo's features.
  • 1:58 - 1:59
We're gonna look at and explore
  • 1:59 - 2:04
    how you can leverage
    Khanmigo's capabilities
  • 2:04 - 2:05
    to gain deeper insights
  • 2:05 - 2:09
    into that student progress
    and understanding.
  • 2:09 - 2:11
And if you are a current partner
  • 2:11 - 2:13
or you have a rostered account
  • 2:13 - 2:17
    or you simply are watching
    and want to jot down,
  • 2:17 - 2:19
    there are two different ways
  • 2:19 - 2:21
that you can follow along today
  • 2:21 - 2:22
and I would love for you to join me
  • 2:22 - 2:26
    in whichever way works
    best for how you learn.
  • 2:26 - 2:30
I am going to go to my dashboard.
  • 2:31 - 2:34
Alright, so when I'm live on my dashboard,
  • 2:34 - 2:39
    one of the features, this
    tool specifically comes
  • 2:39 - 2:41
    with the paid district partnership.
  • 2:41 - 2:44
So Khan Academy is a nonprofit
  • 2:44 - 2:46
and there are a lot of our features
  • 2:46 - 2:49
    and our content that
    you can access anytime,
  • 2:49 - 2:52
    anywhere for free.
  • 2:52 - 2:54
    This particular tool that
    I'm going to highlight
  • 2:54 - 2:58
and demo for you is part
    of the paid partnership.
  • 2:58 - 3:01
So if you are in a district that is one
  • 3:01 - 3:03
    of our Khan Academy districts
  • 3:03 - 3:07
through either a state deal or something
  • 3:07 - 3:10
    that has been purchased
    within your district
  • 3:10 - 3:13
    or your campus, this tool
    is gonna be something
  • 3:13 - 3:16
that you see on your dashboard.
  • 3:16 - 3:18
If you are not part of
    the district partnership,
  • 3:18 - 3:22
this is a tool that if you are looking
  • 3:22 - 3:23
    for consistent feedback
  • 3:23 - 3:27
and ways to monitor student usage of AI,
  • 3:27 - 3:30
this could be a leverage tool for you
  • 3:30 - 3:31
    to have those conversations
  • 3:31 - 3:34
    with your campus administrators
  • 3:34 - 3:36
    or your district personnel
    and try to get them
  • 3:36 - 3:39
to move in the direction with Khanmigo.
  • 3:40 - 3:41
    So first and foremost,
  • 3:41 - 3:44
I'm going to hop into Khanmigo
  • 3:44 - 3:46
and I'm gonna go to my "Teacher Tools".
  • 3:48 - 3:51
And inside of my "Teacher Tools",
  • 3:51 - 3:53
    over the course of this
    learning workshop series,
  • 3:53 - 3:55
    we've highlighted for you
  • 3:55 - 3:57
all of these color coded tabs
  • 3:57 - 3:58
    where we're looking
  • 3:58 - 4:02
at the overarching category or task.
  • 4:02 - 4:05
And this particular tab I'm gonna look at,
  • 4:07 - 4:08
or this tool is under "Support".
  • 4:08 - 4:10
So I'm gonna go to "Support".
  • 4:10 - 4:12
    And then it's this tool
  • 4:12 - 4:14
    "Summarize Student Chat History".
  • 4:14 - 4:17
    Again, this is part of
    your paid partnership
  • 4:17 - 4:19
    if you are with one
  • 4:19 - 4:21
    of our Khan Academy districts.
  • 4:21 - 4:23
    (indistinct)
  • 4:23 - 4:26
So inside you are going to click in
  • 4:26 - 4:28
    and you will notice automatically
  • 4:28 - 4:32
    that Khanmigo is going
    to give you an option.
  • 4:32 - 4:35
    It's gonna ask you to
    choose a particular class.
  • 4:35 - 4:38
And so I am gonna choose
    one of my classes.
  • 4:38 - 4:41
I would advise you and encourage you
  • 4:41 - 4:42
if you are following along with me
  • 4:42 - 4:46
inside of your district rostered account
  • 4:46 - 4:48
for you to choose one class.
  • 4:48 - 4:52
So I'm gonna click on my
    dynamic action bubble,
  • 4:54 - 4:56
and from there, Khanmigo is going to kick
  • 4:56 - 4:59
    into gear and give me
    some additional actions
  • 4:59 - 5:01
    that I can look at.
  • 5:01 - 5:03
At this time I have an opportunity
  • 5:03 - 5:06
    to look at top topics
  • 5:06 - 5:08
or what are my students talking about
  • 5:08 - 5:10
    and doing with Khanmigo.
  • 5:10 - 5:11
    I also have an opportunity
  • 5:11 - 5:14
to look at and view my students
  • 5:14 - 5:16
    with any flagged conversations.
  • 5:16 - 5:18
So one of the major features
  • 5:18 - 5:21
with Khanmigo is our moderation system.
  • 5:21 - 5:25
    We have lots of protocols
    in place to make sure
  • 5:25 - 5:29
    that students are staying
    safe and their chats
  • 5:29 - 5:31
    and interactions with Khanmigo
  • 5:31 - 5:33
    are very learning focused.
  • 5:33 - 5:35
So at this time I am going to look
  • 5:35 - 5:38
    for "View top topics".
  • 5:38 - 5:39
So I'm gonna click on that
  • 5:43 - 5:44
and Khanmigo is gonna think about it.
  • 5:44 - 5:47
And then it asks me some
    follow-up questions.
  • 5:47 - 5:48
So you'll notice it'll ask me
  • 5:48 - 5:51
which days I would like to summarize.
  • 5:51 - 5:53
So it gives me an opportunity
  • 5:53 - 5:55
    to adjust my timeframe.
  • 5:55 - 5:57
    I can go small,
  • 5:57 - 5:59
I can go within the last seven days.
  • 5:59 - 6:00
I could go for the last month
  • 6:00 - 6:03
    or if I'm looking at
    over the last six weeks,
  • 6:03 - 6:05
that's also something that I can do.
  • 6:05 - 6:08
    And you'll see any date
    in the last 60 days.
  • 6:08 - 6:12
So I'm gonna go with last week.
  • 6:16 - 6:18
I will stop and make a note
  • 6:18 - 6:20
    of the accessibility feature.
  • 6:20 - 6:22
So we talk about that a lot for students,
  • 6:22 - 6:24
    but you as educators
  • 6:24 - 6:27
    also have those same features.
  • 6:27 - 6:28
There is a text to speech
  • 6:28 - 6:30
and a speech to text availability.
  • 6:30 - 6:33
And here's what Khanmigo provided for me.
  • 6:33 - 6:36
    So for the last week,
  • 6:36 - 6:37
    these are the number,
  • 6:37 - 6:39
    the topics that were discussed.
  • 6:39 - 6:41
And then I can see the number of students
  • 6:41 - 6:44
who engaged in those particular topics.
  • 6:44 - 6:47
And then from here I have an opportunity
  • 6:47 - 6:50
    to hone in even further.
  • 6:50 - 6:53
So with summarizing student chat history,
  • 6:53 - 6:57
I'm able to go from a
macro view of a class down
  • 6:57 - 7:01
    to the tiniest view within
    an individual student.
  • 7:01 - 7:03
    And this really gives
    me a great opportunity
  • 7:03 - 7:06
    to gather some qualitative data
  • 7:06 - 7:11
    and insights on how my
    students are using AI,
  • 7:11 - 7:13
    what kinds of conversations,
  • 7:13 - 7:15
but also their learning because ultimately
  • 7:15 - 7:18
    that's why we've got AI,
  • 7:18 - 7:21
    that's why we have
    Khanmigo and Khan Academy
  • 7:21 - 7:23
and how those two things are going
  • 7:23 - 7:24
    to work together.
  • 7:24 - 7:28
You can see the list of
    students for each topic
  • 7:28 - 7:30
and it gives me the individual topics.
  • 7:30 - 7:34
And so when I click on
    "Chat with Characters",
  • 7:34 - 7:37
this is a particular learner activity,
  • 7:37 - 7:40
    Khanmigo is then gonna
    continue the interaction
  • 7:40 - 7:42
moving forward and allow me to see
  • 7:42 - 7:44
    which particular student was here.
  • 7:44 - 7:46
And then I can also see
  • 7:46 - 7:48
what and who they chatted on
  • 7:48 - 7:51
    and when that happened happened.
  • 7:53 - 7:57
    And so from here there's
    also a really great way.
  • 7:57 - 8:00
    So this gives you kind
    of a comprehensive view,
  • 8:00 - 8:02
but then I have a point
  • 8:02 - 8:04
where I have a particular student
  • 8:04 - 8:08
    and from here I could
    ask additional questions
  • 8:08 - 8:10
or I could close this out.
  • 8:10 - 8:12
I also wanted to show you
  • 8:12 - 8:13
    that you have the capability
  • 8:13 - 8:17
to drill down to see the actual chat
  • 8:17 - 8:19
    for a particular student.
  • 8:19 - 8:22
And this is another way that you can grab
  • 8:22 - 8:24
    that information from Khanmigo
  • 8:24 - 8:28
    and utilize Khanmigo to
    summarize very quickly
  • 8:28 - 8:30
    some of that qualitative data.
  • 8:30 - 8:32
    So I'm gonna click the
    button up at the top,
  • 8:32 - 8:35
    then Khan Academy, it's
    gonna send me back home.
  • 8:37 - 8:40
And this is my teacher dashboard
  • 8:40 - 8:43
and I'm gonna focus my efforts up here.
  • 8:43 - 8:45
So if you'll notice I have different tabs
  • 8:45 - 8:46
    that I can choose from.
  • 8:46 - 8:48
And if you have attended any
  • 8:48 - 8:50
    of our other learning workshops,
  • 8:50 - 8:54
    we go into this "Khanmigo
    Tools" tab often.
  • 8:54 - 8:56
    We've probably addressed
    this "Classes" tool.
  • 8:56 - 8:59
And then we will talk a little bit more
  • 8:59 - 9:00
    about the "Resources" tool.
  • 9:00 - 9:02
And I believe we've discussed it
  • 9:02 - 9:06
in other sessions, but I want us to focus
  • 9:06 - 9:07
    on this "Students" tool.
  • 9:07 - 9:08
    So we're gonna go ahead
  • 9:08 - 9:11
    and click on "Classes" first,
  • 9:11 - 9:13
    but we'll talk about "Students".
  • 9:13 - 9:15
When I look at my "Students"
  • 9:15 - 9:18
I do have the ability to hone in
  • 9:18 - 9:21
on a particular student and I can get
  • 9:21 - 9:22
    into their information
  • 9:22 - 9:24
    and additional data from there.
  • 9:26 - 9:30
I can also do it through my "Classes".
  • 9:30 - 9:32
When I go in through my "Classes"
  • 9:32 - 9:35
I'm going to choose my individual student
  • 9:39 - 9:41
and I can see my individual students
  • 9:41 - 9:43
    that are here,
  • 9:49 - 9:52
and I'm looking for my chat history
  • 9:52 - 9:53
and y'all, I think I might have just,
  • 9:53 - 9:54
    nope, there it is.
  • 9:56 - 9:58
    I can see what's happening
  • 9:58 - 10:00
with a lot of the activity.
  • 10:00 - 10:04
I also have availability to switch it up
  • 10:04 - 10:06
    and see my individual activities.
  • 10:06 - 10:10
I can hone in on specific
    Khanmigo activities
  • 10:10 - 10:12
    for this particular student.
  • 10:12 - 10:14
    So you will notice here
  • 10:14 - 10:16
that there are some Khanmigo activities
  • 10:16 - 10:19
that have been assigned and this student
  • 10:19 - 10:23
    has not had an opportunity
    to look through that.
  • 10:24 - 10:29
If I go back to my teacher dashboard,
  • 10:29 - 10:33
    I can click on "Students"
    and I can also come
  • 10:33 - 10:35
down and do the same thing.
  • 10:35 - 10:37
So in my last little Khanmigo interaction,
  • 10:37 - 10:41
you saw the name, Thomas Cass.
  • 10:41 - 10:44
So I'm gonna go ahead and click on Thomas.
  • 10:46 - 10:49
    And from here, this is
    the student dashboard.
  • 10:49 - 10:51
This is what your students will see
  • 10:51 - 10:53
when they are on Khan Academy,
  • 10:53 - 10:55
if they're in the district partnership
  • 10:55 - 10:58
or if you're utilizing the free version.
  • 10:58 - 11:00
And then over on the left hand side,
  • 11:00 - 11:03
there is a space under Khanmigo
  • 11:03 - 11:05
for you to see chat history.
  • 11:05 - 11:07
And so for this particular student,
  • 11:07 - 11:10
I'm able to click on "Chat History"
  • 11:10 - 11:14
    and then underneath I
    can change my date range
  • 11:15 - 11:18
and then I can see with each day how many
  • 11:18 - 11:21
and which type of chats my student,
  • 11:21 - 11:24
    this particular student
    has actually interacted
  • 11:24 - 11:26
    with or opened up.
  • 11:26 - 11:28
And I can also kind of get an idea
  • 11:28 - 11:30
    of what the content is.
  • 11:30 - 11:32
    So our example was chatting
  • 11:32 - 11:33
    with historical figures.
  • 11:33 - 11:36
So I can click on that
  • 11:36 - 11:39
and I get a summarized chat history.
  • 11:39 - 11:43
So literally exactly what Khanmigo said
  • 11:43 - 11:45
versus what the student asked them
  • 11:45 - 11:47
and also talked about is available
  • 11:47 - 11:49
    for you to read.
  • 11:49 - 11:50
And this is gonna give you a really
  • 11:50 - 11:53
    great picture of their learning
  • 11:53 - 11:56
    and their understanding
    for a particular topic
  • 11:56 - 12:00
    and/or a particular learner activity.
  • 12:00 - 12:03
    Couple of questions I
    want you to think about.
  • 12:03 - 12:07
    If you are jotting notes
    down as you are watching
  • 12:07 - 12:09
and you are here with us today,
  • 12:09 - 12:11
first question I would love for you
  • 12:11 - 12:14
to jot a few things down for is
  • 12:14 - 12:16
    what could this tell
    you about your student?
  • 12:16 - 12:19
We've talked about that qualitative data,
  • 12:19 - 12:22
    some anecdotes, you're
    gonna see student learning,
  • 12:22 - 12:24
but exactly what could this tell you
  • 12:24 - 12:26
    about the student?
  • 12:26 - 12:29
So I want you to jot
    down a couple of things
  • 12:29 - 12:31
and then a second question for you today,
  • 12:31 - 12:33
    how could you use this
  • 12:33 - 12:36
    to support engaging learner behaviors?
  • 12:36 - 12:39
So using AI is not something
  • 12:39 - 12:41
    that our students naturally know
  • 12:41 - 12:43
    how to do appropriately.
  • 12:43 - 12:44
    They're gonna try it,
  • 12:44 - 12:46
    they're gonna muddle through it
  • 12:46 - 12:48
and they're gonna figure out on their own.
  • 12:48 - 12:50
And they might also have some
  • 12:50 - 12:53
    not so good learner behaviors.
  • 12:53 - 12:55
And so thinking about how you could
  • 12:55 - 12:57
    utilize a chat history
  • 12:57 - 13:01
    to help support those
    engaging learner behaviors
  • 13:02 - 13:05
and help use that as an
    exemplar if you will.
  • 13:08 - 13:11
And so once we kind of highlight
  • 13:11 - 13:13
    and understand how to see
  • 13:13 - 13:14
    what students are actually doing
  • 13:14 - 13:18
    inside with Khanmigo,
    it's also really great
  • 13:18 - 13:21
to be able to monitor and look
  • 13:21 - 13:24
for some quantitative numbers as well
  • 13:24 - 13:26
    as some additional qualitative
  • 13:26 - 13:28
    and then also celebrate
  • 13:28 - 13:30
    that Khanmigo progress.
  • 13:30 - 13:33
So I'm gonna go back onto the platform.
  • 13:34 - 13:35
I am back on the platform
  • 13:35 - 13:39
and I am going to hit
    this button to send me
  • 13:39 - 13:42
    to my teacher dashboard.
  • 13:42 - 13:44
So a couple of things I want you to think
  • 13:44 - 13:46
    about in terms of Khanmigo.
  • 13:46 - 13:48
I want you to think about usage
  • 13:48 - 13:52
and I want you to think about activity.
  • 13:52 - 13:55
So when I say usage, about how much time
  • 13:55 - 13:58
is actually being spent with Khanmigo.
  • 13:58 - 14:00
And when I say activity, I want you
  • 14:00 - 14:03
to think about the intention or the how.
  • 14:03 - 14:07
    How are the students
    engaging with Khanmigo?
  • 14:07 - 14:09
And so I'm gonna pop into one
  • 14:09 - 14:11
    of my district synced classes.
  • 14:14 - 14:17
And on the far left side
    I'm gonna scroll down
  • 14:17 - 14:19
and I'm gonna look for Khanmigo.
  • 14:19 - 14:21
And you'll notice that those two words,
  • 14:21 - 14:24
usage and activity are the two things
  • 14:24 - 14:27
that are listed underneath as something
  • 14:27 - 14:29
that I can access as far as a report.
  • 14:31 - 14:32
So I'm gonna click on "Usage"
  • 14:33 - 14:35
and you'll notice that it's going
  • 14:35 - 14:37
    to give me exactly that,
  • 14:37 - 14:41
    the time spent utilizing Khanmigo.
  • 14:41 - 14:43
So I can see over the course of time
  • 14:43 - 14:45
    how many students,
  • 14:45 - 14:46
and you'll notice it gives it to me
  • 14:46 - 14:49
    in weekly chunks.
  • 14:49 - 14:51
    So in this particular instance,
  • 14:51 - 14:52
    this particular week is going
  • 14:52 - 14:54
to have a few more students.
  • 14:54 - 14:58
I can also adjust the date range depending
  • 14:58 - 14:59
    on what I'm looking at.
  • 14:59 - 15:02
So I can hover and it will elaborate
  • 15:02 - 15:04
    and give me more information
  • 15:04 - 15:08
about the students and the percentage
  • 15:08 - 15:10
and how many of them were active
  • 15:10 - 15:11
    in the timeframe.
  • 15:11 - 15:14
When I scroll down, I then can look
  • 15:14 - 15:15
    at each individual student
  • 15:15 - 15:17
    in that particular class.
  • 15:17 - 15:20
    And then I have some
    direct number insights.
  • 15:20 - 15:23
For each student, I can see how many chats
  • 15:23 - 15:25
    that they've had with Khanmigo,
  • 15:25 - 15:28
just how frequently are they interacting.
  • 15:28 - 15:31
I can also see the number of messages
  • 15:31 - 15:33
    so that back and forth,
  • 15:33 - 15:35
that discourse, is it just a,
  • 15:35 - 15:37
    "Hi, give me an answer,"
  • 15:37 - 15:40
or opening up and saying one thing.
  • 15:40 - 15:41
And then I can also see
  • 15:41 - 15:43
    how many different activities
  • 15:43 - 15:46
    that they engage with Khanmigo.
  • 15:46 - 15:49
    This particular student has 10.
  • 15:49 - 15:51
    And then the most important
  • 15:51 - 15:52
that I wanted to draw attention to
  • 15:52 - 15:54
    is this flag chat.
  • 15:54 - 15:56
    So here again our moderation
  • 15:56 - 15:59
and safety protocols we have in place.
  • 15:59 - 16:01
You have a very quick way
  • 16:01 - 16:03
    to view the flag chats
  • 16:03 - 16:05
    per your intentional students.
  • 16:06 - 16:08
So this is all about usage,
  • 16:08 - 16:12
    this is when students
    are utilizing Khanmigo.
  • 16:12 - 16:16
The other tab is this "Activity" tab.
  • 16:16 - 16:18
And here it will give you an idea
  • 16:18 - 16:20
    of all of your students.
  • 16:20 - 16:23
And again, you can make an adjustment
  • 16:23 - 16:25
for the timeframe if you wanted to look
  • 16:25 - 16:27
for the last week, for the last month
  • 16:27 - 16:30
    or overall you could.
  • 16:30 - 16:32
And then it lists for you all
  • 16:32 - 16:35
of the individual activities with Khanmigo
  • 16:35 - 16:38
    that students could
    possibly be engaged with.
  • 16:38 - 16:40
And then you see the number of chats
  • 16:40 - 16:44
that are unique chats that are associated
  • 16:44 - 16:47
    with that particular activity.
  • 16:47 - 16:50
    You will notice that
    three of these activities
  • 16:50 - 16:53
have a little caret out to the side.
  • 16:53 - 16:56
    These are associated with content
  • 16:56 - 17:00
    inside of a course
    somewhere on our platform.
  • 17:00 - 17:02
With the caret, if I touch the caret,
  • 17:02 - 17:05
    I'm able to expand out
  • 17:05 - 17:10
and I can see in which course has this
  • 17:10 - 17:12
    activity actually been activated
  • 17:12 - 17:14
    and this interaction happened.
  • 17:14 - 17:16
So I can see that it's happened
  • 17:16 - 17:19
    within "Algebra 1" and
    then there's another
  • 17:19 - 17:19
    little caret.
  • 17:19 - 17:21
So I can click on that
  • 17:21 - 17:25
and it will show me which
    unit of study I have
  • 17:25 - 17:29
these unique chats and I can see how many
  • 17:29 - 17:33
    and then the percentage
    of the unique chats
  • 17:33 - 17:35
    that are happening
  • 17:35 - 17:37
within that particular unit of study.
  • 17:37 - 17:40
    So it's gonna give me
    an idea of the content
  • 17:40 - 17:45
that my students are requesting support on
  • 17:45 - 17:49
    and how they're utilizing
    Khanmigo in companion
  • 17:49 - 17:52
with their learning across the board.
  • 17:52 - 17:56
    And so these two reports
    are a really great way
  • 17:56 - 18:00
for you to monitor your students' progress
  • 18:00 - 18:02
    when they are utilizing Khanmigo
  • 18:02 - 18:04
in the classroom, whether it be
  • 18:04 - 18:06
    those standalone activities
  • 18:06 - 18:09
or within the content in the courses.
  • 18:09 - 18:13
    The flip side of that,
    once you start to monitor,
  • 18:13 - 18:15
it's also really great for you to identify
  • 18:15 - 18:19
    where you need to celebrate
    some student progress
  • 18:19 - 18:23
    in student learning and
    even just moving forward
  • 18:23 - 18:28
    and learning with Khanmigo
    or utilizing Khanmigo.
  • 18:28 - 18:30
    And so we're gonna go
    back to our dashboard
  • 18:31 - 18:34
and we're going to address this fourth tab
  • 18:34 - 18:37
    that's up at the top
    is our "Resource" tab.
  • 18:37 - 18:40
So if you have not had an opportunity,
  • 18:40 - 18:43
either you in a district partnership
  • 18:43 - 18:46
or you utilizing the free version,
  • 18:46 - 18:49
you have access to these resources.
  • 18:49 - 18:52
    Inside this, you will
note that there is a tab
  • 18:52 - 18:54
    that says "Printables".
  • 18:54 - 18:56
    And I'm gonna scroll past
  • 18:56 - 18:59
and go to my "Engagement printables".
  • 18:59 - 19:02
    These are all Blackline Masters
  • 19:02 - 19:06
    that are available for
you to click, make a copy
  • 19:06 - 19:09
    and make any adjustments
    that you might want to.
  • 19:09 - 19:11
One thing I wanted to highlight
  • 19:11 - 19:14
for you is this "Certificate" resource.
  • 19:14 - 19:17
So we are at the end of the year.
  • 19:17 - 19:20
    I know that awards
    assemblies are happening.
  • 19:20 - 19:24
I know that end of year
    recognition is going on,
  • 19:24 - 19:26
there's just a lot of closing
  • 19:26 - 19:27
    out of the school year
  • 19:27 - 19:32
    and there might be a
    student or a few students
  • 19:32 - 19:34
who have worked really hard with Khanmigo
  • 19:34 - 19:38
    or worked really hard
    inside of Khan Academy.
  • 19:38 - 19:40
And so I wanna show you this certificate.
  • 19:40 - 19:43
    This is an opportunity
for you to make a copy
  • 19:43 - 19:45
and you'll notice that it is
  • 19:45 - 19:46
    inside a Google Slides,
  • 19:46 - 19:49
which means once you make a copy of it,
  • 19:49 - 19:51
    you can also edit.
  • 19:52 - 19:54
    These five examples,
  • 19:54 - 19:56
I go from Mastery Captain to Grand Tutor,
  • 19:56 - 20:00
    Mastery Challenger,
    Certificate of Appreciation,
  • 20:00 - 20:01
    but also Mastery Captain.
  • 20:01 - 20:04
So right now all of these certificates
  • 20:04 - 20:07
are really focused in on Khan Academy
  • 20:07 - 20:08
    and our courses.
  • 20:08 - 20:12
    But you can utilize Khanmigo
  • 20:12 - 20:15
to help support you get some ideas
  • 20:15 - 20:17
    for Khanmigo type awards.
  • 20:17 - 20:20
So I wanna show you what that looks like.
  • 20:20 - 20:21
    I'm gonna keep this here
  • 20:21 - 20:24
and I'm gonna go back to my Khan Academy
  • 20:24 - 20:27
and I'm gonna go Khan Academy
  • 20:27 - 20:30
and I'm gonna go to my "Teacher Tools"
  • 20:33 - 20:36
and then I'm gonna go to my "Learn" tab
  • 20:36 - 20:38
    and my "Chat with GPT".
  • 20:41 - 20:43
And inside my "Chat with GPT",
  • 20:43 - 20:48
I'm gonna say, "Give me five award names
  • 20:48 - 20:53
for a teacher to give out to students
  • 20:54 - 20:59
related to how they engage with Khanmigo."
  • 21:03 - 21:04
    Period.
  • 21:07 - 21:10
    And voila!
  • 21:10 - 21:12
In just a matter of seconds,
  • 21:12 - 21:15
    you don't have to think
    about potential awards.
  • 21:15 - 21:18
You could get ideas for award names
  • 21:18 - 21:20
    and then utilize the reports
  • 21:20 - 21:22
that I have shown you here today
  • 21:22 - 21:24
    to find those students
  • 21:24 - 21:27
    who meet this particular criteria.
  • 21:27 - 21:30
Then you can use our certificates.
  • 21:30 - 21:32
So I could come in here
    and I could literally say
  • 21:32 - 21:36
    this very first one is
    "Khanmigo Explore Award".
  • 21:36 - 21:37
    I can come in here
  • 21:37 - 21:41
and I can say "Khanmigo Explore Award".
  • 21:41 - 21:44
I can make adjustments to my template.
  • 21:44 - 21:47
I may need to make this
    just a little bit smaller.
  • 21:47 - 21:50
    And I spelled award wrong.
  • 21:50 - 21:51
    There we go.
  • 21:53 - 21:55
Put the name of the student there.
  • 21:55 - 21:56
Then you could print it out, sign it,
  • 21:56 - 21:57
and then you can give it
  • 21:57 - 22:00
and you can have a cute
    little awards assembly
  • 22:00 - 22:02
    inside of this particular classroom
  • 22:02 - 22:05
    to highlight students who
    have really gone above
  • 22:05 - 22:07
    and beyond utilizing Khanmigo
  • 22:07 - 22:10
to help support their particular learning.
  • 22:10 - 22:12
You'll notice it'll give you the award
  • 22:12 - 22:15
    and then it gives you
    a little blurb looking
  • 22:15 - 22:17
for which students are the ones
  • 22:17 - 22:19
that you might want to consider
  • 22:19 - 22:21
    for your certificates.
  • 22:21 - 22:25
    Curiosity Champion, Collaboration Star,
  • 22:25 - 22:28
    Persistence Pioneer Award.
  • 22:28 - 22:31
    I love that for students
    who just keep going
  • 22:31 - 22:32
    and keep going and working
  • 22:32 - 22:35
    through those challenges
    utilizing Khanmigo
  • 22:35 - 22:38
    and then of course, always
    your Creative thinker.
  • 22:39 - 22:41
    Those are all different ways
  • 22:41 - 22:42
    and different awards
  • 22:42 - 22:44
    that you might consider using
  • 22:44 - 22:48
as we close out our year and you've been
  • 22:48 - 22:51
    utilizing Khan Academy and/or Khanmigo.
  • 22:52 - 22:55
And with that, our time is a drawing
  • 22:55 - 22:57
    to a quick close.
  • 22:57 - 23:00
    I just wanted to reintroduce
    the Arizona team,
  • 23:00 - 23:04
    but also the West Coast
    team that supports you.
  • 23:04 - 23:06
    We are all here.
  • 23:06 - 23:09
We are a dedicated Khan Academy team.
  • 23:09 - 23:10
    We want to answer questions
  • 23:10 - 23:14
and support you in your classroom.
  • 23:14 - 23:16
    And as India pointed out,
  • 23:16 - 23:18
India is one of my colleagues here
  • 23:18 - 23:20
with Khan Academy and she is one
  • 23:20 - 23:23
    of the team members as
    well that the reports
  • 23:23 - 23:25
    can give great insight
  • 23:25 - 23:28
    into student usage and learning.
  • 23:28 - 23:29
So those are things that you want
  • 23:29 - 23:31
    to consider putting together.
  • 23:33 - 23:36
And as this is the the
    last learning workshop
  • 23:36 - 23:38
of this Spring series, our team to you,
  • 23:38 - 23:42
we really wanted to say thank you
  • 23:42 - 23:43
from the bottom of our heart
  • 23:43 - 23:46
    for attending our series.
  • 23:46 - 23:47
    It was fast and furious.
  • 23:47 - 23:49
I feel like we've covered a lot of ground
  • 23:49 - 23:52
and a lot of content and we truly
  • 23:52 - 23:54
    appreciate your partnership,
  • 23:54 - 23:57
    whether it is through
    a district partnership
  • 23:57 - 23:59
and you are a rostered teacher
  • 23:59 - 24:01
    or it's through grassroots usage,
  • 24:01 - 24:03
or you have come to these
    series to learn more
  • 24:03 - 24:07
    and to arm yourself with
    information to go back
  • 24:07 - 24:08
    to your administrators
  • 24:08 - 24:11
    or your district personnel.
  • 24:11 - 24:15
And we are here to further our mission
  • 24:15 - 24:17
    of a free, world-class education
  • 24:17 - 24:19
    for anyone, anywhere.
  • 24:19 - 24:22
So we're just here to help support you
  • 24:22 - 24:25
and give you the tools and resources.
