Just a few hours ago, Team Cherry’s marketing
director, Leth, posted an update about Hollow
-
Knight Silksong on the reputable website known
as Twiter.com.
-
In this post, Leth states that Team Cherry
had hoped to release Silksong in the first
-
half of 2023, but are still currently developing
the game and want to put more time into it
-
to make sure it can be the best game it can
be.
-
So the June 12th release window we got is
no longer valid.
-
And yes, this is real.
-
I even checked the community notes so you
know it’s real.
-
The Game Awards also tweeted out that Silksong
will not be releasing in June 2023 at all.
-
Team Cherry might follow up this tweet with
a blogpost themselves, but that remains to
-
be seen.
-
The delay is certainly disappointing.
-
There have been some rumblings that Xbox might
have pressured Team Cherry into committing
-
for a release date, especially since Team
Cherry has said in the past that Silksong
-
runs on “Cherry-Time”, which basically
meant whenever they felt like it.
-
Now I think everybody watching this channel
can agree that Xbox is evil, maybe even more
-
evil than, say, Disney or Footlocker, but
I don’t know if they really forced Team
-
Cherry to agree to a release window they didn’t
actually want.
-
That said, the fact that William and Ari themselves
never confirmed the June 12th release date
-
caused some doubts among fans here in the
first half of 2023.
-
So yeah, things have been kinda confusing
lately, leading to some disgruntled fans within
-
the community.
-
Which, I can’t really say I blame them.
-
Now, if they’re being assholes about it
and harassing the developers, that’s completely
-
unacceptable, but I do think Team Cherry could
have communicated with the fandom a little
-
more clearly though all of this.
-
But either way, I think we can all agree what's
ultimately important is the quality of the
-
final product.
-
And if Team Cherry thinks that they need this
extra time to make Silksong all the more special,
-
I trust them.
-
Remember the wise words of Bethesda Game Studios
director Todd Howard, who once said “"A
-
delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed
game is forever bad.
-
My name is Todd Howard."
-
Thank you, Todd Howard.
-
Shine on, you crazy bastard.
