  • Not Synced
    (A lotus for you)
  • Not Synced
    Respected Thay, Dear Noble Sangha,
  • Not Synced
    Welcome to Plum Village.
  • Not Synced
This is our first Mindfulness Day,
  • Not Synced
of the Spring Retreat, and thank you
  • Not Synced
for coming together, as a Sangha.
  • Not Synced
    There's a Chinese delegation,
  • Not Synced
    who came by the bus.
  • Not Synced
Plum Village is not a school, where you
  • Not Synced
come and you learn, and you get a
  • Not Synced
    degree...no.
  • Not Synced
We don't come here even to learn Buddhism.
  • Not Synced
Plum Village is not an ordinary community
  • Not Synced
    where we come and chit-chat,
  • Not Synced
    to get involved in communication,
  • Not Synced
    talking with someone, or looking
  • Not Synced
for someone to be your friend, to be your lover.
  • Not Synced
Plum Village is a practice centre.
  • Not Synced
It's a community of practice where we
  • Not Synced
devote our energy and time into
  • Not Synced
the practice according to the Buddha.
  • Not Synced
Our main practice in Plum Village
  • Not Synced
    is mindfulness.
  • Not Synced
Mindfulness means you come back to
    yourself.
  • Not Synced
    You bring your wandering mind
  • Not Synced
    back to the present moment.
  • Not Synced
Bring your mind back to the body,
  • Not Synced
and you establish yourself in the
  • Not Synced
    present moment.
  • Not Synced
At the end of the monastic retreat,
  • Not Synced
    we have 10 lazy days.
  • Not Synced
Lazy day means there is no schedule
  • Not Synced
of the practice. So you are on your own.
  • Not Synced
No one remind you to practice,
  • Not Synced
    no schedule...no community
  • Not Synced
schedule for you. So you are on your own.
  • Not Synced
It's a time of examination, whether you
  • Not Synced
    can do it by yourself.
  • Not Synced
Because a community practice- it depends
  • Not Synced
    on individual practice.
  • Not Synced
We take refuge in the community.
  • Not Synced
It means that you are also taking refuge
  • Not Synced
    in each individual practice.
  • Not Synced
If the Sangha is strong, it means
  • Not Synced
    everybody is strong.
  • Not Synced
    Everybody is (can't catch),
  • Not Synced
    everybody is solid.
  • Not Synced
Everyone know the way to go
  • Not Synced
    back to oneself.
  • Not Synced
To be in the present moment.
  • Not Synced
    So it's so clear.
  • Not Synced
Plum Village is a training place.
  • Not Synced
    Training here is training mindfulness.
  • Not Synced
To be alive, to be back to oneself.
  • Not Synced
To be alive, and then to touch life.
  • Not Synced
So what do we want to be here for?-
  • Not Synced
    as the monastic?
  • Not Synced
What do you want to be here for,
  • Not Synced
as an aspirant to become the monastic?
  • Not Synced
What do you want to be here - as the lay?
  • Not Synced
You want to be here in order to
    embody the practice.
  • Not Synced
To take the concrete practice and then
  • Not Synced
    to find ourselves.
  • Not Synced
Plum Village is like the mountain that has
  • Not Synced
a lot of jewels. You need to take it out.
  • Not Synced
You need to know how to collect
  • Not Synced
    the jewels.
  • Not Synced
You need sharp eyes, clear eyes.
  • Not Synced
Plum Village Sangha is like a forest,
  • Not Synced
where all the trees stand together,
  • Not Synced
    majestically standing together
  • Not Synced
    under the sunlight.
  • Not Synced
    We enter this community,
  • Not Synced
we enjoy the majestic energy of
  • Not Synced
    the forest, in the morning.
  • Not Synced
So we don't want to come here
  • Not Synced
    for anything else than that.
  • Not Synced
That's one sutra that the Buddha
    spoke about.
  • Not Synced
    It's related to this:
  • Not Synced
    There's a Sutra on
  • Not Synced
    Majjhima Nikaya, it means
  • Not Synced
    The Middle Discourse.
  • Not Synced
    Number 29.
  • Not Synced
The Buddha spoke about how to be
  • Not Synced
    a monastic.
  • Not Synced
    This discourse was delivered after
  • Not Synced
    Devadatta left the Sangha.
  • Not Synced
Devadatta, he created a lot of problems.
  • Not Synced
Devadatta is a cousin of the Buddha.
  • Not Synced
When he entered the monastic life,
  • Not Synced
after a while he wanted to become
  • Not Synced
    a Buddha!
  • Not Synced
He wanted to be a Buddha.
  • Not Synced
He wanted to become a second Buddha.
  • Not Synced
He wanted to become the leader
  • Not Synced
    of the Sangha.
  • Not Synced
So when the Buddha was still alive,
  • Not Synced
    he said, "Dear Buddha,
  • Not Synced
let you rest. I will take care
  • Not Synced
    of the Sangha. I'll become
  • Not Synced
you- the leader of the Sangha".
  • Not Synced
And the Buddha said." Don't mention that,
  • Not Synced
    Devadatta, in the Sangha,
  • Not Synced
    there's beautiful monastics like
  • Not Synced
    Shariputra, Maha Mogallana, Mahakasyapa
  • Not Synced
they are beautiful people, but I don't
  • Not Synced
even let them become the leader
  • Not Synced
    of the Sangha.
  • Not Synced
    So don't mention about you."
  • Not Synced
    And he get really upset.
  • Not Synced
He left the Sangha and he created a lot
  • Not Synced
    of problems.
  • Not Synced
    He divide the Sangha.
  • Not Synced
He convinced 500 monks to follow him,
  • Not Synced
and he set up a new Sangha.
  • Not Synced
This sutra- the Buddha spoke after
  • Not Synced
    that event.
  • Not Synced
The Buddha said." When a young man,
  • Not Synced
out of faith, left a lay life,
  • Not Synced
and become a monastic. They're called
    'homeless' ".
  • Not Synced
    Because a monk doesn't have a home.
  • Not Synced
A monk lives in the forest,
  • Not Synced
with the community, in the monastery.
  • Not Synced
So we called all monastics 'are homeless'.
  • Not Synced
It's not like people who are homeless and
  • Not Synced
    wandering in the town.
  • Not Synced
It means the people who devote their
  • Not Synced
    energy, their life, their time
    to practice.
  • Not Synced
    They don't concern themselves about
  • Not Synced
    other things, like material comfort,
  • Not Synced
    or...effective comforts...
  • Not Synced
    like romantic relationships...
  • Not Synced
We don't come here to look for romance.
  • Not Synced
Like someone you love, secretly love.
  • Not Synced
    No.
  • Not Synced
    You come here to practice.
  • Not Synced
When we practice for a while,
  • Not Synced
    we gain something.
  • Not Synced
You gain comforts (not sure..can't catch)
  • Not Synced
    We...not only gain, but honour..respect...
  • Not Synced
    We become respected by someone,
  • Not Synced
by lay friends, and we become famous,
  • Not Synced
    renowned. Sometimes they called
  • Not Synced
    you 'a renowned teacher',
  • Not Synced
become famous like a Dharma Teacher.
  • Not Synced
Could be a renowned person in the Sangha.
  • Not Synced
Of course when you practice for a while,
  • Not Synced
    you become a Dharma Teacher.
  • Not Synced
I could be a renowned person
  • Not Synced
    in the community.
  • Not Synced
This young man left family life, go forth.
  • Not Synced
In the language of the Buddha,
  • Not Synced
called 'go forth', means you go on,
  • Not Synced
you go higher, further, means you
  • Not Synced
    ordain as a monastic.
  • Not Synced
You take the life of a monk or
  • Not Synced
a nun, and that's called 'go forth'
  • Not Synced
"The reason is that person don't want
  • Not Synced
to be a victim of birth, old age,
  • Not Synced
    death, sorrow, pain, despair.
  • Not Synced
That person doesn't want to be a victim of
  • Not Synced
    suffering, (can't catch) of suffering.
  • Not Synced
    He believe in the Sangha,
  • Not Synced
that is the way to end all the suffering.
  • Not Synced
    He practices dilligently...many years,
  • Not Synced
    and he attain 'gaining'.
  • Not Synced
He attains honour, he attains renown,
  • Not Synced
    He is pleased with these,
  • Not Synced
his intention is fulfilled when he enjoys
  • Not Synced
the gaining. I gain some kind of material
  • Not Synced
comfort,I come here I have food, I have
  • Not Synced
    room, all that...
  • Not Synced
    He is satisfied with honouring,
  • Not Synced
    respect by other people.
  • Not Synced
He is also satisfied with his position,
  • Not Synced
    he is renowned.
  • Not Synced
And he doesn't want to go on.
  • Not Synced
    He doesn't want to practice.
  • Not Synced
    That's good enough for me.
  • Not Synced
He praised himself, and he disparaged
    others.
  • Not Synced
    He criticises the other people."
  • Not Synced
The Buddha say he became intoxicated,
  • Not Synced
    with this gain, honour, renown.
  • Not Synced
He will grow into negligence, become
  • Not Synced
negligent and he will live in suffering.
  • Not Synced
So this is the warning of the Buddha.
  • Not Synced
    After we practice a while,
  • Not Synced
we think that we have enough.
  • Not Synced
    I become a Dharma Teacher,
  • Not Synced
or maybe I go out, I build a temple,
  • Not Synced
I have a lot of money, and that's it.
  • Not Synced
You stopped practicing, you forget the first
  • Not Synced
goal entering the Sangha. The most deepest
  • Not Synced
    concern entering the Sangha.
  • Not Synced
    You just stopped right there.
  • Not Synced
The Buddha made an example, like a person,
  • Not Synced
looking for heartwood. He goes into the
  • Not Synced
forest and he found a beautiful giant tree.
  • Not Synced
He cut the tree into pieces, into logs.
  • Not Synced
but he doesn't know what is the heartwood.
  • Not Synced
He only takes trees and branches.
  • Not Synced
That person who stopped at gaining,
  • Not Synced
and honouring, and renown, is like taking
  • Not Synced
    the branches and leaves only.
  • Not Synced
    He didn't take the heartwood.
  • Not Synced
The second kind of person, he doesn't
  • Not Synced
    get satisfied with gaining,
  • Not Synced
    honour, renown, he becomes diligent
  • Not Synced
    and goes on practicing.
  • Not Synced
    He achieves attainment of moral
    discipline.
  • Not Synced
    Moral discipline. (In Viet)
  • Not Synced
    He really thinks with discipline,
  • Not Synced
with fine manners, with vinaya, with shila.
  • Not Synced
    He achieves beautifully, radiating the
  • Not Synced
energy of moral discipline. He is pleased
  • Not Synced
with it, and his intention is fulfilled.
  • Not Synced
    I have enough.
  • Not Synced
He said, I'm the best, so I don't want to
  • Not Synced
    practice anymore.
  • Not Synced
He praises himself and he (can't catch).
  • Not Synced
The Buddha said he becomes intoxicated
  • Not Synced
into the gaining, attainment of moral
  • Not Synced
    respect, moral discipline.
  • Not Synced
He will grow negligently and falls into
  • Not Synced
negligence and he lives in suffering.
  • Not Synced
The Buddha says, " This man, this monk,
  • Not Synced
only gets the outer bark of the tree".
  • Not Synced
Moral discipline, precepts, shila is only
  • Not Synced
the outer bark of the tree. Outer bark of
  • Not Synced
the tree. You know the tree has bark?
  • Not Synced
    You only get that.
  • Not Synced
You haven't get the heartwood yet.
  • Not Synced
The heartwood is the strongest part
  • Not Synced
    of the tree.
  • Not Synced
    The third kind of monastic
  • Not Synced
he does not (get) satisfied with gaining,
  • Not Synced
    honour, renown, even moral disciplines.
  • Not Synced
He continues to be dilligent in the
    practice.
  • Not Synced
    He attains...achieves the concentration.
  • Not Synced
    The deep samadhi. Samadhi.
  • Not Synced
And he is pleased with it.
  • Not Synced
His intention is fulfilled, he doesn't
  • Not Synced
want to practice anymore. I am great
  • Not Synced
samadhi. Sometimes I can fly on the sky.
  • Not Synced
You know in the sutra, sometimes they
  • Not Synced
spoke about a monk who can fly in the sky.
  • Not Synced
    They guild.
  • Not Synced
    He stopped practicing.
  • Not Synced
He(is) bragging about his attainment. He
  • Not Synced
is satisfied with his attainment of samadhi.
  • Not Synced
He lauded himself, he praised himself.
  • Not Synced
    He disparaged others.
  • Not Synced
The Buddha said, he becomes intoxicated
  • Not Synced
    with attainment of concentraton, grows
  • Not Synced
    negligently, fall into negligence,
  • Not Synced
    and he lives in suffering.
  • Not Synced
You see, samadhi, but if you stopped...
  • Not Synced
you can fall back to suffering.
  • Not Synced
If you are satisfied bragging about your
  • Not Synced
own practice of samadhi, you can fall back
  • Not Synced
    into suffering.
  • Not Synced
This person only gets the inner bark
  • Not Synced
    of the tree.
  • Not Synced
    So there's 2 barks-the outer bark
  • Not Synced
    and inner bark.
  • Not Synced
He didn't get the heartwood yet.
  • Not Synced
    The fourth person-
  • Not Synced
he is not satisfied with concentration,
  • Not Synced
with great concentration. He is not satisfied
  • Not Synced
with mindfulness. He is radiating with
  • Not Synced
    light, of mindfulness and concentration,
  • Not Synced
but he is not satisfied with that.
  • Not Synced
He becomes dilligent, continue to practice
  • Not Synced
    wholeheartedly, and he achieves the
  • Not Synced
    non-achieve, the vision.
  • Not Synced
    Knowledge and vision.
  • Not Synced
In Vietnamese it called (in Viet)
  • Not Synced
He has the knowledge and vision.
  • Not Synced
He can see things deeper than others.
  • Not Synced
He is pleased with it, and his intention
  • Not Synced
is fulfilled. He doesn't want to practice
    anymore.
  • Not Synced
So I got the knowledge, I got the insight.
  • Not Synced
So I don't want to practice anymore.
  • Not Synced
He enjoys life, get caught in
  • Not Synced
    conversations, sleepy, seeking for
    pleasure.
  • Not Synced
He stopped the practice because he is
  • Not Synced
satisfied of what he believe he can attain
  • Not Synced
    The final.
  • Not Synced
He praised himself, he disparaged others.
  • Not Synced
And the Buddha said, "This monk (is) also
  • Not Synced
falling back into suffering. He only get
  • Not Synced
the sapwood". Certain place in the
  • Not Synced
    tree you called sap..sap wood...the
  • Not Synced
softer wood where it's (can't catch) sap.
  • Not Synced
    Sapwood. S-A-P. Sapwood.
  • Not Synced
    Means softer kind of wood.
  • Not Synced
    It's not the heartwood yet.
  • Not Synced
It helps the tree to grow.
  • Not Synced
    So it's permeated with sap.
  • Not Synced
    The Buddha said, "not yet".
  • Not Synced
The last person, the last monastic.
  • Not Synced
He's not satisfied with the knowledge
  • Not Synced
and vision. He is not satisfied with insight.
  • Not Synced
He becomes more dilligent in practicing.
  • Not Synced
    He practices wholeheartedly, and he
  • Not Synced
    attains what they called
  • Not Synced
    "perpetual emancipation".
  • Not Synced
    Unshakeable liberation.
  • Not Synced
    Perpetual means unshakeable.
  • Not Synced
    Liberation or emancipation.
  • Not Synced
The Buddha said, when a person gets this
  • Not Synced
kind of liberation, he will not fall
  • Not Synced
back into suffering. He got the heartwood.
  • Not Synced
So this Discourse tells us that in
  • Not Synced
    the practice, we don't stop.
  • Not Synced
We don't think that we got it. We've to
  • Not Synced
continue to do the daily practice. We cannot
  • Not Synced
stop the practice in our daily life.
  • Not Synced
When I reflect on this sutra, I see that
  • Not Synced
we come to Plum Village, we think that
  • Not Synced
we have enough, we get already enough.
  • Not Synced
    So we just...not really wholeheartedly
  • Not Synced
in the Sangha practice. We just live our
  • Not Synced
life and let time go by. We feel that
  • Not Synced
    there is nothing special here.
  • Not Synced
    Nothing interesting here.
  • Not Synced
But as I said in the beginning,
  • Not Synced
Plum Village is like a mountain.
  • Not Synced
It has so many jewels hidden in the
  • Not Synced
mountain, and we need to discover that.
  • Not Synced
We need to be wholeheartedly in our daily
  • Not Synced
practice. We need to have sharp eyes, to
  • Not Synced
be able to see the jewels.
  • Not Synced
Especially those who live here for 10 years,
  • Not Synced
    15 years or 20 years.
  • Not Synced
You will see that if we don't enjoy daily
  • Not Synced
practice, we fall into that trap of
  • Not Synced
    satisfaction. I have enough.
  • Not Synced
    (can't catch) is nothing special.
  • Not Synced
    Nothing here.
  • Not Synced
That's why today I would like to share
  • Not Synced
with you what is the jewels
  • Not Synced
of Plum Village. We need to know what is
  • Not Synced
the jewels. We don't just want to come
  • Not Synced
here to gain some kind of comforts,
  • Not Synced
to have money, to have food...
  • Not Synced
to have special food, to have
  • Not Synced
room, comfortable room. We don't want to
  • Not Synced
come here to gain material comfort.
  • Not Synced
    Or emotional comfort.
  • Not Synced
    Or to become famous.
  • Not Synced
    To become honourable person.
  • Not Synced
We want to come here to get the
  • Not Synced
    jewels of the Dharma.
  • Not Synced
And our Teacher is like a rich man.
  • Not Synced
    He's like a rich...
  • Not Synced
man who owns so much jewels and we are
  • Not Synced
the children of our teacher . We live with
  • Not Synced
him, but we don't receive anything!
  • Not Synced
We behave like a desperate child.
  • Not Synced
The first jewel in Plum Village is,
  • Not Synced
    the practice called
  • Not Synced
"I have arrived, I am home".
  • Not Synced
So when you want to call the signature,
  • Not Synced
the seal of Plum Village is,
  • Not Synced
"I have arrived, I am home".
  • Not Synced
    Means you don't run anymore.
  • Not Synced
You make one step and you stop your mind.
  • Not Synced
You stop your body and you stop your mind.
  • Not Synced
And you enter into the present moment.
  • Not Synced
You feel connect with Mother Earth, and
  • Not Synced
    that's called
  • Not Synced
    " I have arrived, I am home".
  • Not Synced
Sometimes we have not arrived yet.
  • Not Synced
Our mind is still thinking a lot.
  • Not Synced
We are still looking for something.
  • Not Synced
We are still searching for something.
  • Not Synced
We miss the first jewel of Plum Village.
  • Not Synced
No matter how long we live here,
  • Not Synced
we don't have the jewel of Plum Village.
  • Not Synced
    I have arrived,
  • Not Synced
    I am home.
  • Not Synced
    No more running.
  • Not Synced
    No more aiming.
  • Not Synced
    No more searching.
  • Not Synced
Happiness is not at the end of the road.
  • Not Synced
Happiness is on each step of the way.
  • Not Synced
    Whether we arrived or not.
  • Not Synced
    Whether our mind stops and
  • Not Synced
    feel life or not.
  • Not Synced
    That's important.
  • Not Synced
    Just that is already important.
  • Not Synced
Means the mind and the body comes together.
  • Not Synced
And then helps to arrive in the self.
  • Not Synced
Arrive in present moment, in life.
  • Not Synced
You get some degree of freedom..
  • Not Synced
The second seal of Plum Village is
  • Not Synced
"dwelling happily in the present moment"
  • Not Synced
So the present moment is our destination.
  • Not Synced
You know, I begin with the sutra in order
  • Not Synced
to speak about Plum Village practice.
  • Not Synced
So the sutra is not important, but
  • Not Synced
    Plum Village practice is important,
  • Not Synced
because that's why we come here for! Haha.
  • Not Synced
Some people still don't have faith in
  • Not Synced
Plum Village practice. They don't have
  • Not Synced
faith in the teacher. They are still
  • Not Synced
waiting for moments to go away from
  • Not Synced
Plum Village. To find something else.
  • Not Synced
That's why speaking about the jewels of
  • Not Synced
    Plum Village is so important.
  • Not Synced
    Plum Village's seal.
  • Not Synced
    "arrived, home"
  • Not Synced
    We have to realise this.
  • Not Synced
We have to really experience this.
  • Not Synced
Because it's the practice of no running.
  • Not Synced
    No aiming.
  • Not Synced
    No searching.
  • Not Synced
    Not even attainment.
  • Not Synced
    You don't look for attainment.
  • Not Synced
Because each step you feel alive.
  • Not Synced
    You touch life.
  • Not Synced
    Each step you come home.
  • Not Synced
Mind come back to the body,
  • Not Synced
and you become whole. And you will be
  • Not Synced
    whole by the present moment.
  • Not Synced
A lot of nourishing and healing in there.
  • Not Synced
So you don't need to run.
  • Not Synced
YouI don't need to even search for
  • Not Synced
    enlightenment, because there is no
  • Not Synced
enlightenment at the end of the road.
  • Not Synced
You don't need even to become a Buddha.
  • Not Synced
    Just be yourself.
  • Not Synced
    To be home sweet home.
  • Not Synced
You don't need to be someone else.
  • Not Synced
Sometimes we feel like we are nothing.
  • Not Synced
We are only a human being full of
    suffering.
  • Not Synced
So we want to become someone else.
  • Not Synced
    But this practice, "home",
  • Not Synced
I need to bring my mind back.
  • Not Synced
I need to bring myself back.
  • Not Synced
On each step I make. So you feel
  • Not Synced
Mother Earth when you walk like that.
  • Not Synced
You are connecting with Mother Earth.
  • Not Synced
it means that you feel yourself.
  • Not Synced
So between you and Mother Earth is life,
  • Not Synced
    is energy of mindfulness.
  • Not Synced
    Energy of being alive.
  • Not Synced
There's a clarity in the mind.
  • Not Synced
When you feel Mother Earth, you feel
  • Not Synced
    yourself and all anxiety stopped.
  • Not Synced
All anixety, all worry, all pain
  • Not Synced
    and sorrow stopped.
  • Not Synced
This is very clear when the Buddha
  • Not Synced
said, "A young man left home, go forth,
  • Not Synced
become a monastic, because of one reason.
  • Not Synced
That he doesn't want to be a victim
  • Not Synced
of birth, death, old age, sorrow, despair.
  • Not Synced
He doesn't want to be a victim of his
  • Not Synced
    suffering and despair and stress".
  • Not Synced
So this can be the way to stop all our
  • Not Synced
block of suffering, mass of suffering.
  • Not Synced
The second jewel of Plum Village
  • Not Synced
practice is dwelling in the present moment.
  • Not Synced
    Happily. In the present moment.
  • Not Synced
The present moment is our destiny.
  • Not Synced
So if you don't know where to go-
  • Not Synced
present moment. If you want to know
  • Not Synced
whether you have mindfulness or not,
  • Not Synced
    you ask yourself,
  • Not Synced
'Am I in the present moment"?
  • Not Synced
    In the present moment, everything
  • Not Synced
    becomes alive.
  • Not Synced
    You are radiating with light,
  • Not Synced
    and you see light outside.
  • Not Synced
Your soul becomes green like grass,
  • Not Synced
your mind becomes clear like light.
  • Not Synced
Because you enter the present moment.
  • Not Synced
There is a formula I like so much,
  • Not Synced
when I'm talking about arrived home,
  • Not Synced
    a formula called velocity.
  • Not Synced
    Velocity equals distance over time.
  • Not Synced
This is when you want to arrive at home.
  • Not Synced
We use this physics formula called
  • Not Synced
    velocity=distance/time.
  • Not Synced
When distance is here, here means here.
  • Not Synced
    You don't make a step.
  • Not Synced
    Your mind don't run here.
  • Not Synced
You don't go anywhere, and time is now,
  • Not Synced
means zero. Over zero. Velocity equals zero.
  • Not Synced
    Means you stopped!
  • Not Synced
    You are free from velocity.
  • Not Synced
    Your mind totally stay still.
  • Not Synced
    Isn't that cool?
  • Not Synced
Mathematics can cool the Buddha's teaching.
(Mathematics can make the teaching cool).
  • Not Synced
If you want to stop your mind,
  • Not Synced
Thay says, "stop thinking radio station"
(Thay says stop non-stop thinking radio)
  • Not Synced
If you want to stop your mind-
  • Not Synced
    Here & Now. Arrived.
  • Not Synced
    You see, it's very clear.
  • Not Synced
    Present moment is our destiny.
  • Not Synced
    Present moment is our country.
  • Not Synced
    When no one can occupy.
  • Not Synced
No one can control that wonderful country
  • Not Synced
    of yours.
  • Not Synced
When you enter the present moment,
  • Not Synced
    everything becomes so real.
  • Not Synced
You can hear song of the bird
  • Not Synced
all the time. Now is the time, the bird is singing
  • Not Synced
almost all day long. Especially in the
  • Not Synced
    early morning about 6 o' clock, 6.20.
  • Not Synced
In the present moment, flowers (are )
  • Not Synced
    blooming all the time.
  • Not Synced
Your body, your mind, green like the
  • Not Synced
    meadows, sparkling with light
  • Not Synced
    in the present moment.
  • Not Synced
    So this is your destination.
  • Not Synced
You don't need to find happiness because
  • Not Synced
in the present moment, you have a lot of
  • Not Synced
    happiness.
  • Not Synced
Of course you don't need money to be happy.
  • Not Synced
In the present moment, you feel so good.
  • Not Synced
    All is so great.
  • Not Synced
    To be one with sunlight.
  • Not Synced
Wow, it's so good to see daffodils.
  • Not Synced
    To really enjoy, touch daffodils.
  • Not Synced
    The colour of golden colour.
  • Not Synced
In the present moment, what we called
  • Not Synced
the true peace. We need to get this.
  • Not Synced
    This is very precious jewel.
  • Not Synced
So important dharma seal of Plum Village.
  • Not Synced
    Anybody can do it.
  • Not Synced
Anybody can enter the present moment.
  • Not Synced
    Dwelling, stay, establish youself
  • Not Synced
    in the present moment.
  • Not Synced
There will be full of happiness.
  • Not Synced
Our Teacher has a very famous expression,
  • Not Synced
" There is no way to happiness,
  • Not Synced
    happiness in the way".
  • Not Synced
    Means you make one step,
  • Not Synced
you have to feel arrive and home.
  • Not Synced
You enter the present moment and then you
  • Not Synced
    experience happiness. Because you become
  • Not Synced
one with the meadow, you feel the warmth
  • Not Synced
of the sunshine in your body.
  • Not Synced
    That is happiness.
  • Not Synced
So happiness is at every step.
  • Not Synced
If we don't have this, at the end there
  • Not Synced
    will be nothing.
  • Not Synced
    Because our mind keeps running.
  • Not Synced
We don't need to run after happiness,
  • Not Synced
after peace, after joy, after well-being.
  • Not Synced
    Happiness, peace, joy, well-being
  • Not Synced
are already available. You experience it.
  • Not Synced
    You taste it.
  • Not Synced
    And that requires, "home, arrive".
  • Not Synced
    Mind stop. No velocity.
  • Not Synced
    So these go together.
  • Not Synced
    True peace.
  • Not Synced
And the beautiful thing in the present
  • Not Synced
    moment is the silence.
  • Not Synced
    If you are too noisy,
  • Not Synced
    you don't feel much.
  • Not Synced
Can you believe in the morning,
  • Not Synced
the song of the bird are calling you.
  • Not Synced
    and you are too noisy!
  • Not Synced
You are talking a lot, non-stop,
  • Not Synced
    and your mind keep thinking.
  • Not Synced
    thinking, looking of something,
  • Not Synced
    and you really don't know
  • Not Synced
you missed the morning song of the birds.
  • Not Synced
So the silence is so important.
  • Not Synced
The silence inside of the mind.
  • Not Synced
So if you feel you don't know
  • Not Synced
what to do, enjoy the silence.
  • Not Synced
Sometimes we are afraid of silence.
  • Not Synced
    At times you are alone,
  • Not Synced
and you feel don't know what to do.
  • Not Synced
You want to look for someone else to talk.
  • Not Synced
    You ruin your silence.
  • Not Synced
    You destroy your awareness.
  • Not Synced
    Your clarity of the mind.
  • Not Synced
In 10 lazy days I spent time by myself.
  • Not Synced
My mentee that goes to the hut,
  • Not Synced
    they have their own practice.
  • Not Synced
And I'm their mentor, I also do by myself.
  • Not Synced
I hide myself in the forest.
  • Not Synced
I think I have enough noise already.
  • Not Synced
    Sometimes we live together,
  • Not Synced
    it's too much noise.
  • Not Synced
    When there's too much noise,
  • Not Synced
we don't feel much (of) present moment.
  • Not Synced
    We don't feel much,
  • Not Synced
the energy of peace, of joy,
  • Not Synced
    refreshing, healing energy in life.
  • Not Synced
In the present moment, what you
  • Not Synced
    need is silence.
  • Not Synced
    Silence.
  • Not Synced
    The other thing is,
  • Not Synced
do one thing at a time.
  • Not Synced
    Don't do multitask.
  • Not Synced
    One thing at a time.
  • Not Synced
I have a habit of learning.
  • Not Synced
I want to learn so much.
  • Not Synced
    Sometimes I learn something,
  • Not Synced
I read something, but I write something.
  • Not Synced
Because I am afraid of losing them.
  • Not Synced
I am afraid I don't have enough time.
  • Not Synced
So I listen to a Dharma talk,
  • Not Synced
    but I am writing something.
  • Not Synced
You just do one thing at a time,
  • Not Synced
to really feel the present moment.
  • Not Synced
You do the garden, and you just do the
  • Not Synced
garden. You put all your heart into the
  • Not Synced
garden. In one of the lazy day, I worked in
  • Not Synced
the rose garden. I put all my heart into
  • Not Synced
doing the rose garden. I weed the grass,
  • Not Synced
I cut the grass, I clear away
  • Not Synced
the weed that occupy the root of the rose.
  • Not Synced
I trim the rose. So you do one thing at
  • Not Synced
a time, you stay in the present moment.
  • Not Synced
    That's why our teacher says,
  • Not Synced
    "Just breathe"
  • Not Synced
    "Just walk".
  • Not Synced
So we walk, and that's it.
  • Not Synced
    We don't think about something.
  • Not Synced
    When we do walking meditation,
  • Not Synced
(it) doesn't mean you are thinking about
  • Not Synced
the dharma talk. No, you just walk,
  • Not Synced
    and the insight comes out.
  • Not Synced
The talk doesn't come from thinking.
  • Not Synced
The talk comes from the insight.
  • Not Synced
    The experience.
  • Not Synced
So just walk, just breath, just eat.
  • Not Synced
    Is that simple enough?
  • Not Synced
And help to clear the mind!
  • Not Synced
Because the silence is so important.
  • Not Synced
The clear mind is so important.
  • Not Synced
In order to have clear mind,
  • Not Synced
the silence, we need to do one thing
  • Not Synced
at a time. It helps (us) to concentrate,
  • Not Synced
to help us concentrate on one thing.
  • Not Synced
    The practice is 'just breathe'.
  • Not Synced
    I like this so much.
  • Not Synced
    "Just breathe", "Just walk"
  • Not Synced
When we eat, we just eat.
  • Not Synced
Enjoy, taste. The gift of life.
  • Not Synced
    That's it.
  • Not Synced
You don't eat and you talk.
  • Not Synced
That's why the first 20 minutes, silence
  • Not Synced
meal is to just eat. That's the time of
  • Not Synced
    concentration, of mindfulness.
  • Not Synced
    Of clear mind.
  • Not Synced
    So it's the training process.
  • Not Synced
I have the feeling that mindfulness
  • Not Synced
    is like a thread.
  • Not Synced
    A very thin thread.
  • Not Synced
You know lotus? When you break the lotus,
  • Not Synced
    there's a thread.
  • Not Synced
    There's a very vulnerable thread.
  • Not Synced
But it can hold other parts of the
  • Not Synced
    lotus stem. So mindfulness is
  • Not Synced
like a thread. Very fine thread.
  • Not Synced
But day by day becomes so powerful.
  • Not Synced
Because the light becomes so powerful.
  • Not Synced
    It recognise things.
  • Not Synced
It see things deeper in the realm of
  • Not Synced
feelings, in the realm of mind,
  • Not Synced
    of thoughts.
  • Not Synced
Not to mention about the green grass,
  • Not Synced
the flower. These are physical things
  • Not Synced
    you can see them clearly.
  • Not Synced
But you can see even your mind,
  • Not Synced
    your feelings, your thoughts.
  • Not Synced
    So training.
  • Not Synced
The third jewel of Plum Village practice.
  • Not Synced
There's a lot, but these are very
  • Not Synced
important jewels that we need to take,
  • Not Synced
we need to bring home, we need to possess,
  • Not Synced
in order to be a rich practitioner.
  • Not Synced
So we don't behave like a destitute.
  • Not Synced
    Like a poor child.
  • Not Synced
In dwelling in the present moment,
  • Not Synced
what you got is the wonders of life.
  • Not Synced
So you don't need anymore conditions
  • Not Synced
    for happiness.
  • Not Synced
    The wonders of life.
  • Not Synced
    Everything becomes so real.
  • Not Synced
    So precious.
  • Not Synced
    The third is the continuity.
  • Not Synced
    Continuity or continuum.
  • Not Synced
This is called the insight. You need to
  • Not Synced
    get this insight of continuity.
  • Not Synced
    (In) Vietnamese called "tuong tục".
  • Not Synced
We need to have an insight of "tuong tuc".
  • Not Synced
    Continuity.
  • Not Synced
Our life is not a rock, ok.
  • Not Synced
    Our life is a process.
  • Not Synced
Our life is a process of energy.
  • Not Synced
Love and energy. Hate and energy.
  • Not Synced
And they don't stay the same.
  • Not Synced
    They always change.
  • Not Synced
    That's why the Buddha say
  • Not Synced
    consciousness sometimes behave
  • Not Synced
    like a river.
  • Not Synced
    It's continually flowing.
  • Not Synced
Remember the insight of our life
  • Not Synced
    is continuity.
  • Not Synced
Our life is flowing all the time.
  • Not Synced
This is the teaching on impermance.
  • Not Synced
So each moment of our lives,
  • Not Synced
    there is input.
  • Not Synced
    The things come in.
  • Not Synced
    Fresh air, sunshine,
  • Not Synced
    a smile, a loving thought.
  • Not Synced
    Each moment of our lives,
  • Not Synced
    there's inputs into what we
  • Not Synced
called body and mind. And also
  • Not Synced
    each moment there is output,
  • Not Synced
    things coming out.
  • Not Synced
    The way you see things,
  • Not Synced
the energy goes out, by wavelength.
  • Not Synced
So you may send out good energy or really
  • Not Synced
    negative energy.
  • Not Synced
So society becomes violent or not
  • Not Synced
depends on individual way of life.
  • Not Synced
What he send out through thoughts,
  • Not Synced
through speech and through body energy,
  • Not Synced
    body language.
  • Not Synced
The insight of continuity helps you to
  • Not Synced
    realise the teaching on impermance.
  • Not Synced
    Everything change.
  • Not Synced
    This is very important insight.
  • Not Synced
    Everything change.
  • Not Synced
So if you have a despair, don't worry.
  • Not Synced
    Everything will change.
  • Not Synced
Even you don't want to change,
  • Not Synced
    it will change by itself.
  • Not Synced
So don't worry about it- despair.
  • Not Synced
    Say hello to despair.
  • Not Synced
As a monk, sometimes I speak about
  • Not Synced
myself. Sometimes we feel like, a little bit
  • Not Synced
    like depressed. (Laughs).
  • Not Synced
    (Bell)
  • Not Synced
I'm sure depression is happening to
  • Not Synced
everyone right? But as a monk, because we
  • Not Synced
are going in, so we face so many energy.
  • Not Synced
And one of the energy inside of our
  • Not Synced
    consciousness is depression.
  • Not Synced
Sometimes I felt the energy depressed.
  • Not Synced
I feel that my energy goes down.
  • Not Synced
Luckily I have a practice called
  • Not Synced
    'gladdening the mind'.
  • Not Synced
    Gladdening the mind.
  • Not Synced
    Cheer up.
  • Not Synced
I go out of depression just like that.
  • Not Synced
Sometimes it's just the seed, triggered up.
  • Not Synced
The seed of depression maybe come from
  • Not Synced
    our father, our mother, ancestors,
  • Not Synced
where they faced, go through challenges
  • Not Synced
in their life, and they fall
  • Not Synced
into depression. They despair because they
  • Not Synced
    cannot do things.
  • Not Synced
They faced so much suffering in life,
  • Not Synced
    and they fall into despair.
  • Not Synced
And now it's transmitted to us.
  • Not Synced
    We practice and we encounter
  • Not Synced
    this energy.
  • Not Synced
    We have the way out,
  • Not Synced
    by gladdening the mind.
  • Not Synced
Open the door and walking outside.
  • Not Synced
Be with nature, and it changes
  • Not Synced
    this energy of depression.
  • Not Synced
    Continuity means that don't worry.
  • Not Synced
    Don't be despair,
  • Not Synced
    because things will change.
  • Not Synced
Sometimes things will change in a year,
  • Not Synced
    not overnight but one year.
  • Not Synced
    There's certain seed, that anger
  • Not Synced
    it takes years to practice.
  • Not Synced
    That certain seed of anixiety,
  • Not Synced
it takes like years to practice
  • Not Synced
So don't give up, have trust.
  • Not Synced
Because we have insight of continuity,
  • Not Synced
    the insight of 'tuong tuc".
  • Not Synced
    'Tuong tuc' means continue,
  • Not Synced
    flowing all the time,
  • Not Synced
    There's another word- impermanance.
  • Not Synced
Don't look into our live as a rock.
  • Not Synced
    A stone. No.
  • Not Synced
Look into our life as a river.
  • Not Synced
    Ever-changing energy.
  • Not Synced
One energy we change to a different energy.
  • Not Synced
So if you have a depression, you can change into
  • Not Synced
joy and happiness. If you have an anger,
  • Not Synced
    you can change into love.
  • Not Synced
You can do it with the practice.
  • Not Synced
    So don't stuck in there.
  • Not Synced
Find a way. A skilful way that fit you.
  • Not Synced
In order to change the river of your mind.
  • Not Synced
We call 'change the seed', because
  • Not Synced
    all come from seeds.
  • Not Synced
    Our consciousness sometimes,
  • Not Synced
is described as 'the totality of seeds".
  • Not Synced
Like the garden, it embodies every kind
  • Not Synced
    of seeds in the garden.
  • Not Synced
When you faced some kind of depression,
  • Not Synced
that's something very normal, but you
  • Not Synced
need to change the seed, or
  • Not Synced
you will be despair for a long time.
  • Not Synced
    Keep this insight of impermance,
  • Not Synced
    insight of continuity.
  • Not Synced
The fourth jewel of the practice is the
  • Not Synced
insight, why we called insight? because
  • Not Synced
it is not thinking. Insight (is what) you
  • Not Synced
see, you see directly, that your body
  • Not Synced
    change, that your mind change.
  • Not Synced
If you are able to let go, it change.
  • Not Synced
Sometimes we don't want to let go.
  • Not Synced
When you hate someone, you keep holding
  • Not Synced
into that, you keep arguing in the mind
  • Not Synced
with that person, and you make it worse!
  • Not Synced
You don't allow it to flow,
  • Not Synced
you have it heavy in your mind.
  • Not Synced
And that person doesn't know anything!
  • Not Synced
    That's really called 'attachment'.
  • Not Synced
This insight helps to remove attachment.
  • Not Synced
    No attachment.
  • Not Synced
    No attachment to whatsoever,
  • Not Synced
whatsoever in the form, in the feeling,
  • Not Synced
in the thinking, in the mind.
  • Not Synced
In the person, even in the person that
  • Not Synced
you don't like, you have to let go.
  • Not Synced
Because your mind holds on to it,
  • Not Synced
    you suffer a lot.
  • Not Synced
Because the insight of continuity means
  • Not Synced
    your mind flow.
  • Not Synced
    Don't hold.
  • Not Synced
You hold, you ruin the nature of our mind.
  • Not Synced
    The insight of interconnectedness.
  • Not Synced
    Interconnectedness.
  • Not Synced
    How Teacher usually says, "interbeing".
  • Not Synced
    Interbeing is another word.
  • Not Synced
So with this insight of changing,
  • Not Synced
    insight of interbeing,
  • Not Synced
    we are free.
  • Not Synced
    Because we relate.
  • Not Synced
If you hate someone, it means
  • Not Synced
    you hate yourself.
  • Not Synced
    Interbeing. Interconnected.
  • Not Synced
    Your suffering is his suffering.
  • Not Synced
    Your smile is her smile.
  • Not Synced
So if you want to punish him means
  • Not Synced
you want to punish her- yourself.
  • Not Synced
    Interbeingness, interconnectedness.
  • Not Synced
And that is the energy field.
  • Not Synced
You know, life- in quantum physics, they
  • Not Synced
    called energy field.
  • Not Synced
You are just a whole bunch of energy.
  • Not Synced
I'm moving around, and two energy bombard,
  • Not Synced
and there is life. Two energy bombard
  • Not Synced
bombard means we have a problem.
  • Not Synced
    You love or you hate.
  • Not Synced
So actually love and hate is just energy.
  • Not Synced
    Collision of energy. In bio-chemistry,
  • Not Synced
they called the bonding of the chemical.
  • Not Synced
Its funny that when you fall in love with
  • Not Synced
someone, you actually bonding with her
  • Not Synced
    in the level of chemistry.
  • Not Synced
You send out to her the message to say,
  • Not Synced
    "Dopamine I love you"
  • Not Synced
You know, the dopamine say "I love you",
  • Not Synced
    "I feel good with you",
  • Not Synced
    and you fall in love.
  • Not Synced
And he do the same thing.
  • Not Synced
So insight of interbeing, the insight is
  • Not Synced
so crucial. Usually we attach our ego,
  • Not Synced
so we forgot the insight of interbeing.
  • Not Synced
    Interconnectedness.
  • Not Synced
We are relating, we are connecting.
  • Not Synced
In the level of human being, and
  • Not Synced
also in the level of nature.
  • Not Synced
    Of life.
  • Not Synced
    Nowadays at Hanoi, the government
  • Not Synced
cuts down all the big trees.
  • Not Synced
There's several thousands of big trees and
  • Not Synced
they want to cut them down.
  • Not Synced
    All of them.
  • Not Synced
You know Hanoi is beautiful because of the
  • Not Synced
the big trees. It gives shade and
  • Not Synced
it also makes the city beautiful.
  • Not Synced
Now they are cutting it down.
  • Not Synced
I think some guy in the back wants to get
  • Not Synced
the wood. That's why they then
  • Not Synced
    make this plan.
  • Not Synced
It's really hurt, especially the people
  • Not Synced
    who live in Hanoi.
  • Not Synced
They didn't know the tree is so important
  • Not Synced
    for life, because we are
  • Not Synced
    interconnected with tree.
  • Not Synced
    Tree absorbs carbon dioxide,
  • Not Synced
    and releases oxygen for us.
  • Not Synced
Tree gives us fruits, tree gives us shade.
  • Not Synced
Tree removes away heat and sunburn.
  • Not Synced
    But they don't know that.
  • Not Synced
    They want to make money.
  • Not Synced
They want to cut down all the trees.
  • Not Synced
I mean they are going to kill themselves.
  • Not Synced
So today we need to pray for the
  • Not Synced
trees in Hanoi. They are giant like this.
  • Not Synced
I think this government is stupid.
  • Not Synced
In Vietnam, the government is stupid.
  • Not Synced
    with all stupid people.
  • Not Synced
Sorry I have to say that, but they do so
  • Not Synced
    many things so corrupt.
  • Not Synced
The insight of interbeing means you are
  • Not Synced
not yourself. The insight of no-self.
  • Not Synced
    It's a very important teaching
  • Not Synced
of the Buddha. I think Thay Phap Luu
  • Not Synced
    like the way I talk...(laughs)
  • Not Synced
because it's a very sutra thing.
  • Not Synced
    Not a separate existence,
  • Not Synced
    interbeing is like that.
  • Not Synced
    You are not alone.
  • Not Synced
    You cannot be alone.
  • Not Synced
In the level of energy, we always
  • Not Synced
exchange. Your sorrow comes out as energy
  • Not Synced
and I got it. Your happiness,
  • Not Synced
as wavelength, comes out and you make
  • Not Synced
    me happy.
  • Not Synced
    It's goes through your eyes,
  • Not Synced
    it goes through your body.
  • Not Synced
Sometimes it goes through your language.
  • Not Synced
    Sometimes you speak beautiful language,
  • Not Synced
we feel good. Nowadays in society,
  • Not Synced
    people speak very rough language.
  • Not Synced
They accuse, their language is like knife,
  • Not Synced
cutting everything. So we need to change
  • Not Synced
    the way of speaking.
  • Not Synced
You know the eight-fold path of
  • Not Synced
the Buddha teaching is right speech.
  • Not Synced
    Loving speech.
  • Not Synced
We need to speak in a way that create
  • Not Synced
    peace, happiness, confidence.
  • Not Synced
    We don't want to hurt
  • Not Synced
other people. We don't want our speech
  • Not Synced
to be like knife, cutting other people up,
  • Not Synced
    with pain and sorrow.
  • Not Synced
    Interbeing, interconnectedness is like
  • Not Synced
that. You are concerned for other people.
  • Not Synced
    Because you are not alone.
  • Not Synced
    You cannot be alone.
  • Not Synced
You know sometimes I have a feeling
  • Not Synced
I want to go away by myself.
  • Not Synced
Because I think I can do better by myself.
  • Not Synced
    So this is very temptation.
  • Not Synced
Because I think I can do better in the
  • Not Synced
    practice by myself.
  • Not Synced
    Living in the community sometimes
  • Not Synced
    is a little bit difficult.
  • Not Synced
    Too much noise...
  • Not Synced
    too much singing...
  • Not Synced
    too much playing music.
  • Not Synced
    You hear flute everywhere...
  • Not Synced
    you hear guitar everywhere...sometimes
  • Not Synced
    you feel overwhelming with that.
  • Not Synced
A lot of talking. We talk a lot.
  • Not Synced
But we don't spend time to be silent.
  • Not Synced
So that's the temptation to be alone
  • Not Synced
    is so strong in me.
  • Not Synced
I've to be very careful with that.
  • Not Synced
Because actually we need each other.
  • Not Synced
One more day, if I give a talk, I'll talk
  • Not Synced
about the sutra the Buddha says about
  • Not Synced
    the importance about having friends.
  • Not Synced
Ananda says it's only half in importance
  • Not Synced
in spiritual life. The Buddha says,
  • Not Synced
    "No, Ananda,full of spiritual life.
  • Not Synced
If you have a good friend".
  • Not Synced
There's a sutra like that. You can
  • Not Synced
realise your full potential of spiritual
  • Not Synced
    life, full enlightenment, with liberation
  • Not Synced
    with a good friend".
  • Not Synced
    A good friend, ok.
  • Not Synced
Not like a noisy guy. (Laughs)
  • Not Synced
So interbeing is like that. We need to take
  • Not Synced
good care of our practice, in order to be
  • Not Synced
good for the Sangha. Be good with our Sangha.
  • Not Synced
To support our brothers and sisters.
  • Not Synced
The fifth jewel of Plum Village practice,
  • Not Synced
is the insight...this is the very
  • Not Synced
    important insight of non-duality.
  • Not Synced
    Non-duality.
  • Not Synced
    This is so important.
  • Not Synced
    Insight. It's not notion.
  • Not Synced
    All these is not notion.
  • Not Synced
All these you need to experience.
  • Not Synced
If you learn from the book,
  • Not Synced
    it's not an insight.
  • Not Synced
If you read from the book, from a sutra,
  • Not Synced
    it's not yet the insight.
  • Not Synced
    You need to experience.
  • Not Synced
You need to live your life
  • Not Synced
    with the insight of non-duality.
  • Not Synced
    What does that mean- non-duality?
  • Not Synced
Means there's no right or wrong.
  • Not Synced
There is no you separate from I.
  • Not Synced
There is no body separate from mine.
  • Not Synced
There is no enemy separate from friend.
  • Not Synced
    Non-duality is like that.
  • Not Synced
We're always thinking of right and wrong.
  • Not Synced
    Good and bad.
  • Not Synced
    Friend and enemy.
  • Not Synced
    Right, is that right?
  • Not Synced
Most of the time we're thinking like that.
  • Not Synced
That is the main source of suffering.
  • Not Synced
    It comes from discriminative mind.
  • Not Synced
    The mind of discrimination.
  • Not Synced
    Non-duality means the insight of
    non-discrimination.
  • Not Synced
The Buddha says there's two views.
  • Not Synced
    Double view. (In viet).
  • Not Synced
    You are different from him.
  • Not Synced
    You, are the perceiver, and
  • Not Synced
he, is the object of your preception,
  • Not Synced
are different. It means double view.
  • Not Synced
If we are caught in that,
  • Not Synced
    we have problem right away.
  • Not Synced
    You begin to judge him.
  • Not Synced
You put him in (a) box.
  • Not Synced
Whether good monk or bad monk.
  • Not Synced
    We already have a problem.
  • Not Synced
    Cannot live together.
  • Not Synced
We have to transcend this double view:
  • Not Synced
    "I'm different from you",
  • Not Synced
    "I'm judging you".
  • Not Synced
"I'm a judge and you become
  • Not Synced
    object of my judgement".
  • Not Synced
    That's called non-duality.
  • Not Synced
    Non-discrimination.
  • Not Synced
You, are a part of my mind.
  • Not Synced
You are the object of my mind.
  • Not Synced
If I don't change my mind,
  • Not Synced
    I cannot change you.
  • Not Synced
If you don't like someone in the Sangha,
  • Not Synced
    you change your mind.
  • Not Synced
Is there anybody you don't like
  • Not Synced
    in your Sangha?
  • Not Synced
You have to change your mind.
  • Not Synced
    Non-duality.
  • Not Synced
And the same thing is (for)
  • Not Synced
suffering and happiness. You don't throw
  • Not Synced
away suffering in order to run after
  • Not Synced
    happiness.
  • Not Synced
    Suffering make happiness.
  • Not Synced
It just like garbage makes flowers.
  • Not Synced
    Manure, cow manure makes flowers
  • Not Synced
    and vegetables.
  • Not Synced
So if you see something inside of you,
  • Not Synced
    called garbage, suffering,
  • Not Synced
    don't be afraid.
  • Not Synced
    Use that to plant lettuce,
  • Not Synced
    green mustard, flowers.
  • Not Synced
    So non-duality is like that.
  • Not Synced
So that point, you'll be able to accept
  • Not Synced
    the whole of life.
  • Not Synced
    You don't struggle.
  • Not Synced
    There is no struggling,
  • Not Synced
    There is no clinging.
  • Not Synced
    Non-duality means no clinging to
  • Not Synced
    whatsoever.
  • Not Synced
    Even enlightenment or happiness.
  • Not Synced
Sometimes we live in a community,
  • Not Synced
    we feel comfortable with someone,
  • Not Synced
with a group of people, and we
  • Not Synced
    don't like the other group.
  • Not Synced
Insight of non-duality helps us to
  • Not Synced
    remove that behaviour.
  • Not Synced
To open our heart, so that slowly
  • Not Synced
everyone becomes part of your community.
  • Not Synced
Everybody becomes part of your love.
  • Not Synced
    Non-duality.
  • Not Synced
We will be free from double grasping.
  • Not Synced
    The Buddha says (in viet),
  • Not Synced
    (in viet), double grasping.
  • Not Synced
    Remove that.
  • Not Synced
We always have this double grasping.
  • Not Synced
It's very deep down, controlled by the ego.
  • Not Synced
    The judge.
  • Not Synced
So the ego in the back is doing all these.
  • Not Synced
    Judging, discriminating.
  • Not Synced
    You see, it's very powerful.
  • Not Synced
    It's very powerful insight.
  • Not Synced
It helps us to remove the totality
  • Not Synced
    of all suffering.
  • Not Synced
    Non-duality.
  • Not Synced
    "I am you"
  • Not Synced
    "I am my father"
  • Not Synced
    "I am my teacher"
  • Not Synced
Look at the people around us.
  • Not Synced
This is transmitted by our teacher.
  • Not Synced
As I say, our teacher is like a rich guy.
  • Not Synced
    Rich man.
  • Not Synced
He has so much jewels and
  • Not Synced
    he give it to us,
  • Not Synced
    but we don't receive anything.
  • Not Synced
We receive only the bark of the tree,
  • Not Synced
    the branch, the leaves.
  • Not Synced
    We don't receive heartwood,
  • Not Synced
    the essential, the most important
  • Not Synced
    of the Buddha's teachings.
  • Not Synced
    We don't receive yet.
  • Not Synced
So if you have in your mind,
  • Not Synced
    thinking of going away,
  • Not Synced
    go to another school,
  • Not Synced
    think about it.
  • Not Synced
    Have you got the jewels?
  • Not Synced
    From Plum Village.
  • Not Synced
    From the mountain.
  • Not Synced
    Good luck.
  • Not Synced
    Thank you very much.
  • Not Synced
    (A lotus for you)
