Sharing Dance

Now, we'll move on to work on our dance

and at first we are going to focus again
on the metamorphic section,

and today I'm going to give them
the opportunity to choreograph

or create a little bit of movement
that they can add into this section.

Just like in the warm up

I need you to make up a team rhythm.

Your team rhythm has to have,
listen, this many beats.

1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

The students will now return
to their two tectonic plate groups

and we are giving them
the challenge of creating

their own eight count individual
movement sequence.

So it will be an eight count rhythm

and if they can move whatever
way they choose as a team [inaudible]

I think the more the students
can invest their ideas into the dance

the more connected they will feel to it,

the more they will want to succeed
as they perform it.

Now adding in their movement
with our sequence,

they are going to march on the spot
saying metamorphic two times,

then they have eight counts
to complete their team rhythm,

then 16 count to show that pressure
tectonic plate pushing pose.

Once they understand the sequence
and they have practiced it,

have each group show
their different movement

and then, have the whole team
practice together

as we did last week moving towards
each other through space

showing their marching, their rhythms
and their pressure pose.

Five, six, five, six march it up.

Metamorphic, metamorphic,
metamorphic, metamorphic.

Push!

Two, three, holding, keep holding,
keep holding, ready to march closer.

- Metamorphic, metamorphic,
- Do your rhythm.

- metamorphic, metamorphic.
- Push and push,

keep pushing, keep on pushing,
focus on pushing forward

- four, five, six, seven sing!
- Metamorphic, metamorphic

metamorphic, metamorphic.

Push, push, keep pushing, keep reaching
and you are going to push them over seven

and eight last march.

- Metamorphic, metamorphic,
- Rhythm.

metamorphic, metamorphic.

Mountain, mountain, forward, ready
explode all the way to the floor, explode.

Now we've completed all the choreography
for the dance which is excellent

so we are going to do a quick review
of all the material,

and the way we did that
was almost in a reverse order.

So we first started with the metamorphic,
we just practiced that section,

now we are going to move back
one section and practice

the igneous section and the metamorphic.

Magma flows.

And if that team is confident,
we'll move back one more

and then do sedimentary, igneous,
and then metamorphic.

And that's just sometimes a wonderful
way to review [inaudible] backwards

to forwards through the piece.

If the students demonstrate confidence
and clarity in their review

then it's time to move on to performing
the routine for each other.
