MARIA MIRABELA este un film muzical, inspirat din povestea lui Ion Creangă „Fata babei și fata moșneagului”, fiind prima peliculă românească în care au fost combinate scene cu actori cu filmul de desen animat.
Eroinele filmului sunt două fetițe Maria și Mirabela.
Universul copilăriei lor este populat cu personaje de basm inventate de I.Popescu Gopo: veselul broscoi Oache, licuriciul Scăpărici și grațioasa Omide, care însoțesc aventurile fetițelor în drumul lor de inițiere în «misterele» vieții.
Mesajul filmului: numai ajutând pe alții cu fapte bune și frumoase poți să te realizezi și să te afirmi.
