0:45 - 0:50it is open and and it is illegal and operates in total secrecy.

0:58 - 1:01NSA contractor Edward Snoden leaked documents

1:09 - 1:11and their lawyers have tried to deflect the public outrage

1:12 - 1:16by distortign the facts and misleading the public about the process

1:16 - 1:21US courts have never allowed the government
to run a spying program of this scale. -
1:21 - 1:22So how this happen?

1:22 - 1:26Well, lets take a step back, for a minute.

1:27 - 1:33America's founders hated oppressive British
survailance and unreasonable search and seizure. -
1:33 - 1:36the issue here is independence.

1:36 - 1:41Understandign the privacy was necessary to almost
every basic right in our constitution. -
1:41 - 1:43They established the forth amendment.

1:43 - 1:48The 4th amendment exist to prevent the government from tracking or searching your personal information,

1:48 - 1:51unless they have good reason to believe a crime is happening
-
1:51 - 1:55it's all there in black and white clear and crystal.

1:55 - 2:01Using the NSA the US government is violating the highest law of the country, the Constitution.

2:04 - 2:07Government surveillance has gone on for decades.

2:07 - 2:09but things got a lot worse

2:10 - 2:12when the congress passed the patriot act

2:12 - 2:15giveing secret ... court more authority

2:15 - 2:17to grant survalance request

2:17 - 2:19on a large scale

2:19 - 2:21instead of getting a warant for individual person

2:21 - 2:22suspected of crime

2:22 - 2:24the governemnt can search a large list of persons

2:24 - 2:28even though under the no suspssiion of criminal activity

2:28 - 2:32FISa courts aren't required to what court orders have been approved

2:32 - 2:34and according evedance is needed

2:34 - 2:36under the 1789 request for authorizing
-
2:36 - 2:39one was withdrawn by the government
-
2:39 - 2:42all the other one were grandted

2:42 - 2:43it is a rubish stamp

2:43 - 2:45all of this is protected by

2:45 - 2:46secricy

2:46 - 2:48with no system for checks and balances

2:48 - 2:50if the NSA is collectiing information

2:50 - 2:53on you based on what you read, or the websites you go to

2:53 - 2:56you'll likly never know or get to stop it

2:56 - 2:58no matter who you are

2:58 - 3:00programs like PRISM

3:00 - 3:01completley ignore the purpose of

3:01 - 3:03warants while claiming

3:03 - 3:04to work within the law.

3:04 - 3:08the US government have turned the internte we love into something never intended to be

3:16 - 3:18this is the most essential problem.

3:24 - 3:25US government agents can illegally track

3:28 - 3:30... who uses web for web portal

3:30 - 3:32data has been collected

3:32 - 3:34for years

3:38 - 3:48gmail, facebook, yahoo, and many more

4:05 - 4:06might get your account monitored
