0:17 - 0:19I was in my house in the backyard,

0:19 - 0:22playing soccer.

0:22 - 0:24Then all of a sudden, I fell down.
-
0:25 - 0:27When I got up in the night,
-
0:27 - 0:29I started this condition.

0:30 - 0:32I started hitting myself
-
0:32 - 0:33and I screamed.
-
0:33 - 0:34Every night, I saw spirit.
-
0:34 - 0:36In fact, I saw a dark shadow.
-
0:37 - 0:39He was holding an ax and a chain.
-
0:40 - 0:43Every night he would wake me up
-
0:43 - 0:44and I would cry.
-
0:44 - 0:47When I woke up, I saw my parents
-
0:47 - 0:49watching TV down the hall.
-
0:49 - 0:52I told them, “Someone was getting me!”
-
0:52 - 0:55But my parents thought it was a nightmare.

0:55 - 0:57But it wasn't,

0:57 - 0:59because it happened every night.

0:59 - 1:01So I went to all kinds of religions

1:01 - 1:03from the east to west to north to south.

1:03 - 1:06Some Chinese say, “Maybe bring your son

1:06 - 1:09to go and see some Buddhist or medium,

1:10 - 1:14maybe pray for you, eat or drink something

1:14 - 1:17it might cure him!"

1:17 - 1:19But it was getting me more scared.

1:20 - 1:23In 1995 I went to Australia.

1:23 - 1:25(grunts, smacking noise)

1:25 - 1:27I got my advanced degree

1:27 - 1:29to study in Australia, Tasmania.

1:30 - 1:32When I went there to study, the students

1:32 - 1:35complained about my being very

1:35 - 1:37noisy in my hostel.

1:38 - 1:39I was told to go and see
-
1:39 - 1:41the psychiatry doctor.
-
1:42 - 1:45So the doctor then told me, “What you’re
-
1:45 - 1:48having is a condition called
-
1:48 - 1:49Tourette’s syndrome.”
-
1:50 - 1:52I used to hurt my chin very badly,
-
1:52 - 1:55it would bruise and crack, black.
-
1:56 - 1:58And yellowish.

1:58 - 2:00(Female interviewer) You mentioned when
-
2:00 - 2:02you’re dancing, it stops.
-
2:02 - 2:04I don’t jerk at all.
-
2:04 - 2:06I don’t jerk at all (grunts).

2:06 - 2:09(Male Interviewer) What about your painting?

2:09 - 2:12(grunts) I used to jerk, I stopped.

2:12 - 2:14But my mentor told me,
-
2:16 - 2:18“When you jerk (grunts)

2:18 - 2:20let the jerk of the movement,
-
2:20 - 2:24leave it in the painting.
