an egg on the ground?

(eggs pelting in rapid succession)

- (giggles)

(man retches)

- Oh, this is HowToBasic, isn't it?

- Oh, this is HowToBasic.

(man snorts, grunts)

- Ew!

(man growls)

- People in Australia like Vegemite, so...

- Was that HowToBasic?

I don't really watch him,
but I know who he is.

- I'm already beautiful.
Why do I need this?

♪ (acoustic guitar music) ♪

- I love how it always starts out
like it's an actual tutorial.

- I bet this is gonna be funny.

- Good job so far.

- Oh no.

(man growling)

- (giggles)

(splattering)
- Oh my god.

- What are they doing to him?

(man gasping erratically)
- I feel so bad for him.

- That is not how to be beautiful.

♪ (cheery pop music) ♪
- So beautiful.

- He's hideous.

That's not beautiful at all.

- That's just weird.

(high-pitched) Whaaat?

- What is that? Like, clam chowder?

- Okay. I haven't seen this one.

♪ (suspenseful music) ♪

- Ew. Ew.

(whoosh)
- Whaat?

- Ooh.

- Cat wants to eat the fish.

- Oh. Oh no.

(glass shattering)
- Oh god!

(violent whacking)

- That was, like, the best
magic trick I've ever seen.

- Starts out good,
but then it goes downhill.

- The eggs again.

- More eggs.

♪ (suspenseful music) ♪

- That is the way to how to rage-quit.

♪ (suspenseful music plays, stops) ♪
- (man) Eh!

- That's the magic I want to see. Mm.

- Why does he do this to his house?

- "How to do homework." Oh no.

(man gasping in agitation)

(man growls fiercely)

(engine starts, revs)

- I wish I could do that to my homework.

(man growling ferociously)

- The noises he makes are so... creepy.

- How I feel about homework and video.

- I'm pretty sure you're
gonna get an A for that.

- Oh, you blend it.

(blender grinds)
- I don't think that's gonna make

a very good smoothie, but you know.

- That looks kinda good.

- Scary thing is it doesn't
even look that bad.

- Bon appetit.

- (loud whisper) Don't eat it.

(chewing followed by immediate retching)

(plate shatters)

(man growls)
- (laughs)

♪ (Vangelis, "Chariots of Fire") ♪
- Creepy.

- Disturbing.

(smack)

- That was so weird.

- Are these videos all by the same person?

- (children) Question time!

- (Finebros) So would you say you liked
the videos we showed you?

- I hated them.

- No.

They're weird.

- No!

But I couldn't take my eyes off it.

- Yes.

- Yeah, of course.

- Yes.

They're funny.

- Ding-ding-ding! Yep!

"How to be beautiful."

(yelling erratically,
pretending to break stuff)

- I was trying to type in
"How to make rainbow bracelets."

And then HowToBasic came up.
And I was like, "What's that?"

I just pressed it,
and then I started laughing.

I started cracking up.

- (Finebros) Well, these videos
were all from a YouTube channel

out of Australia called HowToBasic

that makes how-to videos.
- I didn't know he was in Australia.

- (Finebros) Is he really teaching
you how to do things

in the videos?
- No. Not at all.

- He's teaching people
how to do the thing the wrong way.

- Yeah.

It is my book.

- Yes. If you're homework
is to destroy your homework,

then you were doing it perfectly.

- At the beginning part.

And then it just turns.

- (Finebros) So before
each video we showed you,

there was a picture and title,

which were the pictures
and titles that the channel uses

when he uploads his videos to YouTube.

- That would be really frustrating,
but it would be really funny.

- (Finebros) When you saw
those pictures and titles,

what were you expecting
the video to be like?

- Nice.

Not destroying things.

- They put a picture of something
that they're not doing.

I thought he would actually
bake an egg in Australia.

- I think they want to do that
so it's even more funny

when you switch into crazy mode,

'cause it's just like normal then crazy.

- Well, I knew, because
I knew it was HowToBasic.

But other people,

that's probably how most
people come across him:

just looking for tutorials on everything.

"How to do homework."
I'm sure that's clickbait.

- (Finebros) Do you think it's wrong

that they might be misleading
people to click on their videos

by making titles and thumbnails

not what the video's actually about?

- Yeah, they should do
how it's normally done.

- It's not wrong.

- No, I think it's fine.

- It's not something completely
different. It's still funny.

And if you're studying for a test

and you need to know how to do
homework or something like that,

this will just crack you up
and make your day.

- If somebody's actually
looking for a how-to video

and they come across this,
they're gonna be like,

"Well, I wanted to see how to do it,
not how to smash it."

- (Finebros) So as of now,

HowToBasic has over
7 and a half million subscribers.

- Some people like weird things.

I mean, I like weird things,
but I'm not into that.

- (Finebros) It's Australia's
most popular YouTube channel,

and it has over 1 billion views.
- Oh my goodness.

- That's crazy.

It's the same thing over and over again.

- (Finebros) Why do you
think a channel like this

would be so popular?

- Because a lot of people
like it and think it's funny.

- People like

stuff that doesn't make sense.

- People like crazy things.

People like watching somebody
do something unexpected.

- It's random and funny.

And of course you'd want to see
eggs getting thrown at an oven.

There's no why. Just eggs.

- (Finebros) What would your parents say

if you made as big a mess
like they make on this channel?

- I don't know. I would never
do that in the first place.

- They'd be like, "You're grounded!"

- "Clean that up right now!"

- They'd be like, "What was
the meaning of this?"

I'm like, "Just cooking eggs."

- I'm pretty sure all parents
would be mad no matter what

if you destroy something that
they bought with their kachang.

- They would kill me.

It would be the equivalent
if I took everything in my fridge

and just completely destroyed it.

And that's what he does
every single day for a living.

- (Finebros) Something
in most of these videos

are the breaking of eggs,
and the creator has said

that he loves eggs so much

that they are like the oxygen he breathes.

- I don't think it's safe
to breathe in eggs.

- That's gross and disgusting.

I would not like to breathe yolk.

- (Finebros) Why do you think
he's so obsessed with eggs?

- He breathes eggs.
I mean, he's an egg man.

- Maybe he likes the sound
of the eggs cracking,

and maybe it soothes him.

- If you throw it, then it just bursts.

- It makes a big mess.
And for that channel, that's good.

- (Finebros) Finally,
we did this with the elders

when we covered HowToBasic.

So it's only right that
we do it with you guys as well.

- An egg!

- No! No! No, my beautiful hair!

- (Finebros) What do you want
to do with that egg?

- I want to keep it

and call it my pet.

- Smash it.

- I want to throw it at something.

- I really want to throw it as hard
as I can against the table.

- It's hard-boiled!

- Oh, it's hard-boiled.

I see what you did there.

- You're not gonna stop me,
'cause if I do it, I'm doing it.

I want to throw this
at you guys right now!

- I saw the elders. It's hard-boiled.

I know! I saw the elders.

I'm still gonna smash it.

I hate eggs!
