Renford Reese has more than a decade of experience creating and managing academic programs for people in prison and the formerly incarcerated. He is the founder of the Prison Education Project, which serves inmates in prison, the Reintegration Academy for parolees and, at Cal Poly Pomona, Project Rebound, a support program for formerly incarcerated students. In his research and writing he has delved deeply into issue of race and the U.S. criminal justice system with a focus on African American men. He has also written about professional sports and Black student-athletes in a variety of publications and was interviewed for the Biography Channel’s stories on Jesse Owens and Jackie Robinson.
