Surat Cinta Kepada Sang Prada (Love Letter to the Soldier)
-
0:23 - 0:25Dear Samsul
-
0:26 - 0:32Samsul, I have written two letters to you but you never replied.
-
0:33 - 0:41Hopefully, through this video letter, you will see your daughter and be moved to respond.
-
0:52 - 1:00I brought this video letter from Bupul to Merauke so you could watch it.
-
1:02 - 1:08Samsul, I still live in Bupul village with Mum and Dad.
-
1:08 - 1:13The village is still like before. The air is still fresh.
-
1:14 - 1:18But to this day there is still no electricity and no telephone.
-
1:25 - 1:31On the journey to Merauke we pass through many border security posts.
-
1:32 - 1:36The TNI post that used to be near the Maro River bridge
-
1:36 - 1:40has been moved to near the Eligobel District office.
-
2:04 - 2:09As you know, the trip from Bupul to Merauke is really tough,
-
2:09 - 2:12usually between 4 and 5 hours.
-
2:13 - 2:16Samsul, I miss you.
-
2:19 - 2:26After you left me - when I was 5 months pregnant with our child
-
2:27 - 2:29- life was difficult.
-
2:30 - 2:35Many people ask who is the father of my child.
-
2:36 - 2:43Those who know that her father is a TNI soldier call her an army brat.
-
2:49 - 2:53Sometimes, when Yani is fussy and cranky,
-
2:53 - 2:56Mum and Dad become emotional and say to her:
-
2:58 - 3:05"Your father only knows how to make you, but he is irresponsible!'
-
3:06 - 3:07I usually just stay quiet and accept these words from my parents.
-
3:17 - 3:25Samsul, do you remember when we first met in 2008?
-
3:25 - 3:27You were very polite and kind.
-
3:28 - 3:36You used to visit our house often, bringing biscuits, Energen and milk.
-
3:43 - 3:47You came by the house every day until we started dating.
-
3:48 - 3:52I was still in high school at the time.
-
3:54 - 3:57I thought we were going to get married.
-
3:58 - 4:03But you left for Bandung in November 2008 when I was 5 months pregnant.
-
4:04 - 4:11You promised to move to Merauke and asked me to take care of our daughter.
-
4:14 - 4:23On 17 March 2009, our daughter, Anita Mariani, was born in the Bupul village.
-
4:23 - 4:25I call her Yani.
-
4:27 - 4:33Now Yani has grown big. She's three years old.
-
4:33 - 4:40She wants to go to school and become somebody useful for the nation.
-
5:23 - 5:27Samsul, Mum and Dad have grown old.
-
5:27 - 5:34They can no longer work to support our child.
-
5:36 - 5:43I find it difficult to work because I have to take care of Yani constantly.
-
5:43 - 5:49But I continue to fight to support our child.
-
5:50 - 5:59If you come back to us, of course I will accept you with open arms.
-
6:00 - 6:03I will continue to wait for you, Samsul.
-
6:03 - 6:06I don't care what people say.
-
6:08 - 6:14Love, from Bupul and Merauke, 21 November 2011.
-
