-
Hi there.
-
This is a super quick video to let you know
that you can now, once again, contribute translated
-
captions to GMTK videos!
-
YouTube recently removed the ability for fans
to translate videos on the platform - but,
-
I now have a system in place to make it work
once again.
-
So, here’s how to do it…
-
At the bottom of the description for every
video on this channel, there’s a link to
-
the video’s page on Amara - a free community
captioning website.
-
On Amara, you'll need to make an account,
but can then click on "Add/Edit subtitles",
-
then pick the language you wish to contribute
on the drop down.
-
You'll then see the English captions on the
left, and can provide a translated version
-
in the box on the right.
-
When it's all done, click "Yes, start syncing".
-
I will then receive a notification and can
add the subtitles to the video back on YouTube,
-
and credit you with your Amara name in the
description.
-
I'll try to do it quickly on newly released
videos, but will only be able to update captions
-
about once a month on older stuff.
-
To be crystal clear, all captions are provided
voluntarily.
-
And I'm not asking anyone to do this - but I will
accept them if they wish to contribute.
-
I want to thank everyone who has already translated
GMTK into: French, Italian, Korean, Turkish,
-
Japanese, Spanish, and many, many, more languages.
-
You're helping democratise game design knowledge
by making it free and super accessible.
-
So, thanks - and I'll see you again soon.
