For it to work you have to work it! #katijournaltopic

  • 0:02 - 0:03
    Hey everybody! Happy Saturday.
  • 0:03 - 0:06
I hope you had a wonderful, finally Friday
  • 0:06 - 0:07
Haven't sang that in a while, so you're
  • 0:07 - 0:10
welcome. I don't know if I like this dress
  • 0:10 - 0:13
The color, uh, I don't know. Anyways,
  • 0:13 - 0:15
so it's Saturday and I have a journal
  • 0:15 - 0:16
    topic for you.
  • 0:16 - 0:18
I've been going through a lot of my old
  • 0:18 - 0:21
Q and A's and everything, so stay tuned
  • 0:21 - 0:22
    for a secret project.
  • 0:22 - 0:26
But in doing that I found a wonderful
  • 0:26 - 0:28
journal topic idea. And this comes from
  • 0:28 - 0:29
Jemma. So thanks Jemma for sending this
  • 0:29 - 0:31
quite a little while ago, a couple months
  • 0:31 - 0:34
It says, "When watching some of your
  • 0:34 - 0:35
videos on eating disorder recovery you
  • 0:35 - 0:38
said at the end of one for it to work
  • 0:38 - 0:39
you have to work it. I don't know if you
  • 0:39 - 0:41
use your own advice for a journal topic
  • 0:41 - 0:43
but this really resonated with me
  • 0:43 - 0:46
because sometimes we are quick to give up
  • 0:46 - 0:48
and say it's not working, but have we
  • 0:48 - 0:49
    really worked it?"
  • 0:49 - 0:50
    That's a good question.
  • 0:50 - 0:54
"The answer, well is probably no. Not as
  • 0:54 - 0:56
much as we could. It reminds me never to
  • 0:56 - 0:58
give up and to keep working at it until
  • 0:58 - 1:00
it does indeed work. Thanks for all your
  • 1:00 - 1:02
amazing videos. They make me smile."
  • 1:02 - 1:03
    Aww, you're welcome.
  • 1:03 - 1:05
And I think that is kind of good.
  • 1:05 - 1:07
I forget that I even said that, but
  • 1:07 - 1:10
I remember I used to take some of the
  • 1:10 - 1:12
girls at the eating disorder treatment
  • 1:12 - 1:13
center to the AA meetings, when they were
  • 1:13 - 1:15
open meetings. I would go with them and
  • 1:15 - 1:18
then bring them back. But it was like, it
  • 1:18 - 1:20
works if you work it. Keep coming back.
  • 1:20 - 1:23
That's part of the thing they say at the
  • 1:23 - 1:24
end. I'm doing this because you hold hands
  • 1:24 - 1:25
when you do it sometimes, some groups
  • 1:25 - 1:27
maybe not yours but the one I went to did.
  • 1:27 - 1:30
And for it to work you have to work it.
  • 1:30 - 1:32
Sometimes we don't want to work. I know
  • 1:32 - 1:33
    we're tired. It's a lot of work.
  • 1:33 - 1:35
We're annoyed that we're even doing this
  • 1:35 - 1:39
but it made me think about and write about
  • 1:39 - 1:41
    Have you really worked it?
  • 1:41 - 1:42
If you're wanting to give up, what have
  • 1:42 - 1:44
you done today to try to make it a better
  • 1:44 - 1:46
day? What are things you worked on and
  • 1:46 - 1:48
used? What tools have you tried?
  • 1:48 - 1:50
What alternatives have you done instead of
  • 1:50 - 1:52
self harming before we actually give into
  • 1:52 - 1:53
    the urges?
  • 1:53 - 1:55
If we kind of take stock, we can
  • 1:55 - 1:57
    A) figure out what's really working for us
  • 1:57 - 1:59
and we can refer back and see what's
  • 1:59 - 2:00
helped us in the past, but
  • 2:00 - 2:03
    B) it distracts us in the moment and
  • 2:03 - 2:05
we're actually writing things down and
  • 2:05 - 2:07
surprise, we're working on our recovery.
  • 2:07 - 2:09
So keep at it. Keep working.
  • 2:09 - 2:10
And thanks Jemma for sending this over.
  • 2:10 - 2:11
    Have a wonderful weekend!
  • 2:11 - 2:13
I'll see y'all on Monday. Bye!
