Now we are going to go over a second reason
that you can go vegan: HEALTH. The wealth
-
of research and information on the health
of being vegan is absolutely astounding. The
-
little titbits I’m about to go over don’t
even come close to scratching the surface.
-
Let’s start with a list of diseases from
a diet rich in animal products: high cholesterol,
-
coronary heart disease, diabetes, stroke,
obesity, asthma, high blood pressure, large
-
bowel disorders, various cancers, gall stones,
coronary artery disease, osteoporosis, kidney
-
disease and dementia.
-
Vegans have a ridiculously lower incidence
of the diseases I just mentioned; but wait,
-
I have the perfect argument here: I know this
one person that went vegan and they died.
-
Before you contribute this life-changing nugget
of research, just take a moment and think
-
about the significance of that statement.
Well, if veganism was so healthy and eating
-
animals was so detrimental wouldn’t doctors
be saying something about this? They are – and
-
no, they are not hippie doctors or gym healers,
these are medical doctors. Dr. T. Colin Campbell
-
has spent over forty years as a scientific
researcher doing federally-funded studies
-
for organizations such as the American Institute
for Cancer Research, The American Cancer Society
-
and the National Institutes of Health.
-
Dr. Campbell says: “other research shows
that various cancers, autoimmune disease,
-
bone health, kidney health, vision and brain
disorders in old age (like cognitive dysfunction
-
and Alzheimer’s) are convincingly influenced
by diet. Most importantly, the diet that has
-
time and again been shown to reverse and/or
prevent these diseases is the same whole foods,
-
plant-based diet that I had found to promote
optimal health in my laboratory research in
-
the China study.”
Then there is the fact that 95% of all food
-
poisoning is related to animal products and
then we have things like the swine flu, the
-
bird flu and the mad cow scare. Have you ever
heard of a “mad melon scare?”
-
As Gary Yourofsky says “Lettuce doesn’t shit.”
-
Now, for the men out there I know that you’re thinking,
-
“well, I have to be manly and virile and so, I need to eat meat.”
-
Think about this: animal products are high in fat. Diets high in fat restrict blood flow in the body, blood flow
-
(think about it) is absolutely essential for
your most manly of man organs.
-
In other words, vegans do it harder and longer.
-
Let’s be honest, what is most convincing
is a good “before” and “after” story.
-
Ooby wasn’t always vegan, so let’s take
a look at the difference that this diet has
-
made in her life: so, here she is before vegan

and here’s the radical change after [showing
an “after” picture]. If that isn’t enough

to convince you, here are some people who
are vegan.

So, maybe you don’t care about animals,
or the environment, or feeding the hungry;
-
do it for the most American reason – no,
the most human reason: your ego.
