"Per cento" letteralmente
significa "per centinaio".

Questa è l'origine
della parola.

"Cent-" di "centesimi" e simili
significano "cento".

Perciò dire
"7 per cento",

equivale a dire
"7 x 100",

che è uguale alla
frazione "7/100".

Vediamo di scrivere:
"0,061" come percentuale.

Essenzialmente vogliamo
scrivere questo numero come:

una cifra su 100.

0,061 = 0,061/1
ovviamente sono la stessa quantità.

Se dividiamo una quantità per "1"
otteniamo la stessa quantità.

Moltiplicherò allora per
"100/100".

100/100 = 1
questo non cambierà il valore,

ma esprimerà il valore in una
frazione con "100" al denominatore.

Calcolando "1 x 100" otterrò
"100" al denominatore.

Calcolando "0,601 x 100" otterrò
"60,1" al numeratore.

Infatti, quando moltiplico per "10"
sposto la virgola a destra di 1 posizione.

Moltiplicando per "100" sposterò
la virgola a destra di 2 posizioni.

0,601 x 100 = 60,1

Ora abbiamo il numero
espresso nel modo che volevamo.

"60,1/100" possiamo riscriverlo come:
"60,1 per cento" o "60,1%".
