December 24 - I'm a King's Kid

  • 0:05 - 0:07
    We started in our garage,
  • 0:07 - 0:10
but we’ve kind of progressed to a studio
  • 0:10 - 0:12
that over the last eight years
    we’ve built up,
  • 0:12 - 0:16
    and it’s servicing us
    very well at the moment!
  • 0:19 - 0:21
Kimberly and Robert were called by God
  • 0:21 - 0:24
    to do media ministry
    for children in Australia.
  • 0:24 - 0:25
    At the time,
  • 0:25 - 0:27
    Kimberly started writing songs,
  • 0:27 - 0:31
    and Robert was working at
    Sanitarium Health Food Company.
  • 0:31 - 0:35
One day as Robert was working,
    God revealed a plan!
  • 0:35 - 0:37
God spoke to me in the oven and said,
  • 0:38 - 0:41
    “Look, I’ve got this
    ministry for you guys.
  • 0:42 - 0:47
I want you to not just do songs,
    but media.”
  • 0:49 - 0:51
He also said that this house,
  • 0:51 - 0:54
the house that I actually grew up in
but wasn’t living in at the time,
  • 0:54 - 0:57
    was going to be
    the headquarters in the future.
  • 0:58 - 0:59
I came home and told Kimberly,
  • 0:59 - 1:02
    and she said, “I’m not
    living in that house.
  • 1:02 - 1:05
    But they felt impressed
    to follow God's will.
  • 1:05 - 1:07
They moved in, built a studio,
  • 1:07 - 1:09
    and now, after many challenges,
  • 1:09 - 1:13
    run a fully operational
    children’s media ministry.
  • 1:13 - 1:17
    The King’s Kids program began
at the beginning of the pandemic,
  • 1:17 - 1:19
    As churches closed their doors,
  • 1:19 - 1:22
there was a need for more
    children’s programming.
  • 1:22 - 1:25
    Within a week of their
    first brainstorming meeting,
  • 1:25 - 1:29
    a small team recorded
    the first episode of
    King’s Kids!
  • 1:30 - 1:33
They have continued to put out
    an episode every week since,
  • 1:33 - 1:38
    focused on discipleship and based
on the Primary Sabbath School lesson.
  • 1:38 - 1:41
They’ve produced more than 100 episodes!
  • 1:44 - 1:45
If you came to our house,
  • 1:45 - 1:47
    you would see it’s been
    converted into a studio.
  • 1:48 - 1:50
    We have a control room,
  • 1:50 - 1:52
a studio, which is where we are
    at the moment,
  • 1:52 - 1:54
    we have hundreds of puppets,
  • 1:54 - 1:56
    and lots of characters,
    lots of children,
  • 1:56 - 2:00
and a lot of people that are helping
to support and be a part of this project.
  • 2:00 - 2:02
Getting right to the heart of families,
  • 2:02 - 2:04
and how we can connect them
  • 2:04 - 2:06
    and develop their relationship
    with Christ.
  • 2:07 - 2:09
    Kimberly and Rob
show that in everything they do,
  • 2:09 - 2:11
in the way they treat us
    as their staff,
  • 2:11 - 2:12
in the way they support us,
  • 2:12 - 2:15
and in the way we challenge each other
  • 2:15 - 2:17
to move forward with the projects
    that we’re working on.
  • 2:18 - 2:21
    The feedback has been
    overwhelmingly positive,
  • 2:21 - 2:24
    and now God has put
a new project on their hearts.
  • 2:25 - 2:27
    The King’s Kids program
    that we’re currently producing
  • 2:27 - 2:28
    is a real discipleship one,
  • 2:28 - 2:31
    which is trying to make
    a difference to children
  • 2:32 - 2:33
that already know something about God.
  • 2:33 - 2:36
    But there’s a project
    that we’re working on
  • 2:36 - 2:38
    and developing at the
    moment called, “The Rescue”
  • 2:38 - 2:41
    which is going to be
    a real evangelistic project
  • 2:41 - 2:43
    for children and families
    that don’t know about God,
  • 2:43 - 2:45
that haven’t been brought up in church,
  • 2:45 - 2:47
    that don’t know about Jesus,
  • 2:47 - 2:50
and the only time they’ve heard
about God is in slang language.
  • 2:51 - 2:53
    They’re the ones
that we really want to reach.
  • 2:54 - 2:56
    What we’ll be doing is
    taking the story of salvation
  • 2:56 - 2:59
and looking at God as the rescuer,
  • 2:59 - 3:01
    somebody who sees us,
    who loves us,
  • 3:01 - 3:02
and has a plan for us,
  • 3:02 - 3:04
    and how throughout time,
  • 3:04 - 3:08
He has laid out this plan
to come and rescue His people.
  • 3:08 - 3:10
    This project is something
  • 3:10 - 3:13
    that will be available free
    on multiple platforms.
  • 3:14 - 3:15
We’re really hoping to reach out
  • 3:15 - 3:17
    and connect with families
    across the world.
  • 3:18 - 3:19
    This quarter,
  • 3:19 - 3:22
a portion of your 13th Sabbath Offering
  • 3:22 - 3:25
    will help support the creation
    of
    The Rescue,
  • 3:25 - 3:28
    a three season series
    that travels through time
  • 3:28 - 3:32
    and focuses on different aspects
    of
    The Great Controversy,
  • 3:32 - 3:35
    and how God has intervened
    to rescue His people.
  • 3:35 - 3:37
    There’s so much behind-the-scenes work
  • 3:37 - 3:39
that is put into a project like this.
  • 3:40 - 3:43
It’s been a huge step of faith
    all the way through.
  • 3:43 - 3:44
    Sometimes we’re not quite sure
  • 3:44 - 3:46
    where the next bit of
funding is going to come from,
  • 3:46 - 3:48
where the next bit of equipment
    is going to come from.
  • 3:48 - 3:53
    The extra puppets, the sets,
    the design, cameras, lighting.
  • 3:53 - 3:55
    There’s so much involved.
  • 3:55 - 4:00
That’s what we need to continue
    to produce high-quality kids’ content.
  • 4:01 - 4:04
Without the help of people like yourself,
  • 4:04 - 4:07
    that wouldn’t happen
    as well as it does.
  • 4:07 - 4:11
We need everybody to jump in behind us
  • 4:11 - 4:14
and to support us with your funds,
    with your offerings.
  • 4:15 - 4:19
Thank you for planning a generous
    13th Sabbath Offering this quarter
  • 4:19 - 4:21
that will help share the love of Jesus
  • 4:21 - 4:25
with kids across the South Pacific
    and around the world!
