Introduction to Communication Science week 6: 6.1 Introduction Question & Answers
-
0:11 - 0:15Welcome to our last week before the exam. I
hope you are up to speed with everything. -
0:15 - 0:18If not, take the time to go over the lectures you
missed -
0:18 - 0:22and read the text files we made available on our
platform. -
0:23 - 0:24This is week 6 of our course
-
0:24 - 0:28and as you know, we already covered everything we set out to do in the previous weeks,
-
0:28 - 0:33discussing in a rapid pace some basic models
and concepts, the history of our field, -
0:33 - 0:39the linear, construction/signification and cultural
approaches to communication. -
0:39 - 0:45This week is an unscripted week that I want to
use to go over some student questions. -
0:46 - 0:51I received approximately 200 questions to cover
this or that item. -
0:52 - 0:56Some questions were posted on our forum,
some came through Facebook or Twitter, -
0:57 - 1:02even some per email, even though I hid my email address in the university database,
-
1:02 - 1:04you were quite adept in finding me.
-
1:05 - 1:09No worries, all suggestions were welcome, and I
wish I could cover them all, -
1:09 - 1:13but as every week, we only have eight short
lectures, -
1:13 - 1:18so I made a selection based on how many times a topic was requested
-
1:18 - 1:22and how well it fitted with our course goals.
-
1:23 - 1:25One other important thing.
-
1:25 - 1:30I will add questions to the exam about the topics
that I cover this week. -
1:31 - 1:34So in that aspect, this week is no different than
others. -
1:35 - 1:40We only had a few days to prepare so we have
kept things basic this week. -
1:40 - 1:45You will be seeing me some more than usual
and we have kept the visuals simple, -
1:45 - 1:50but hopefully as effective and entertaining as
before. I hope you enjoy. -
1:50 - 1:54Oh, and let us know what you think of this
week’s more lean approach. -
1:55 - 1:56We are learning just like you!
