  • 0:03 - 0:04
    Hey everyone!
  • 0:04 - 0:07
    In this video, you'll learn
how to sign up for Amara Community,
  • 0:07 - 0:09
so that your friends and followers
  • 0:09 - 0:12
    can help you subtitle
    and translate your videos.
  • 0:12 - 0:13
    Let's get started.
  • 0:14 - 0:16
    First, you'll need to
    create an Amara account.
  • 0:16 - 0:19
If you already have an account,
you can click "Go to Login".
  • 0:19 - 0:22
    Otherwise, fill out the form
    and create a new account.
  • 0:23 - 0:25
A confirmation email will be sent to you.
  • 0:25 - 0:27
You'll need to verify your email
  • 0:27 - 0:30
before you can use some of the features
    of your Amara Community team.
  • 0:31 - 0:32
Pick a name for your team.
  • 0:32 - 0:35
It can match your YouTube channel,
    or be something else entirely.
  • 0:37 - 0:41
Here, you'll choose the number of seats
    and languages for your team.
  • 0:41 - 0:44
Each seat is an available space
    for a team member.
  • 0:44 - 0:47
    "Team languages" refers to
    the number of languages
  • 0:47 - 0:49
    your team members can translate
    your videos into.
  • 0:49 - 0:52
If you're not sure about what you'll need,
    start with a small number.
  • 0:52 - 0:54
You can always upgrade your plan later.
  • 0:56 - 0:58
Next, you'll be taken to the payment page.
  • 0:58 - 1:00
    Enter your payment details here.
  • 1:00 - 1:02
You'll be able to review your plan
  • 1:02 - 1:04
    before finalizing your purchase
    on the next page.
  • 1:05 - 1:08
    Make sure everything looks good
    before you buy.
  • 1:08 - 1:11
Keep in mind that your plan
    will automatically renew
  • 1:11 - 1:12
    after three months,
  • 1:12 - 1:13
but you can cancel at any time.
  • 1:14 - 1:17
    Now you're ready to start
    customizing your team.
  • 1:17 - 1:20
    You'll automatically be taken through
a few quick steps to get you started.
  • 1:21 - 1:23
The first step is to link
    your YouTube channel.
  • 1:24 - 1:28
This will allow your team to easily create
    and publish subtitles to YouTube.
  • 1:28 - 1:33
If all of your YouTube videos are spoken
in the same language, choose that here.
  • 1:33 - 1:36
If you speak more than one language
in your videos, leave this blank
  • 1:36 - 1:39
    and you can manually enter
    the video languages later.
  • 1:39 - 1:41
You'll be taken outside of Amara
    to login to YouTube.
  • 1:43 - 1:46
The next step is to choose the languages
    you want subtitles created in.
  • 1:47 - 1:50
If you want subtitles in the language
    your video is spoken,
  • 1:50 - 1:53
    make sure to include
    your channel language here.
  • 1:53 - 1:56
    Once you set these languages,
you won't be able to change them,
  • 1:56 - 2:00
so if you don't know which ones
you want just yet, skip this for now,
  • 2:00 - 2:02
and you can always set the rest later.
  • 2:02 - 2:05
    Your "user language" refers to
    the languages you speak
  • 2:05 - 2:08
    and understand well enough
    to create subtitles in.
  • 2:09 - 2:13
Make sure to fill this out if you want to
personally contribute to videos on Amara.
  • 2:13 - 2:17
Finally, if you have friends or family
that you want on your team,
  • 2:17 - 2:21
you can invite them by entering
their email addresses in this box.
  • 2:21 - 2:25
If you don't have specific users in mind
for your team, click "Skip for now".
  • 2:25 - 2:28
We'll show you how to send
    an application link
  • 2:28 - 2:29
    to your followers instead.
  • 2:30 - 2:33
Once you finish the setup steps,
you'll be taken to your Team Dashboard.
  • 2:34 - 2:37
Here, you'll be able to see
    videos that need subtitles,
  • 2:37 - 2:40
    recent activity, and navigate
    to other management pages.
  • 2:41 - 2:43
To see all of your videos,
    head to the Videos page.
  • 2:45 - 2:47
Once you link your YouTube channel,
  • 2:47 - 2:51
any public videos from your channel
    will show up here.
  • 2:51 - 2:52
    They will be imported automatically,
  • 2:52 - 2:56
but it may take up to 15 minutes
    for them to show up.
  • 2:56 - 2:58
If you didn't select a channel language
    in the setup steps,
  • 2:58 - 3:02
this is where you can specify
what languages your videos are spoken in,
  • 3:02 - 3:04
either one at a time or in bulk.
  • 3:05 - 3:07
    If you skipped any of
    the initial setup steps,
  • 3:07 - 3:09
    you can complete them
    from the Settings page.
  • 3:10 - 3:14
The Subtitle Languages tab allows you
    to choose languages
  • 3:14 - 3:17
    that your users will be
    able to create subtitles in.
  • 3:17 - 3:21
Make sure to hit "Save Changes"
to finalize any changes you've made.
  • 3:21 - 3:25
Keep in mind that you can't change
or remove a language once you set it,
  • 3:25 - 3:27
but if you find you need more languages,
  • 3:27 - 3:29
    you can use this button
    to upgrade your plan.
  • 3:31 - 3:35
The YouTube Channel tab is where
you can link your YouTube channel,
  • 3:35 - 3:36
    if you haven't already.
  • 3:36 - 3:39
The channel name will show here
    once it's been linked.
  • 3:40 - 3:43
The Team Admission tab is where
you can manage how users join your team.
  • 3:44 - 3:46
    You can choose to either
    invite users directly,
  • 3:46 - 3:49
or have users apply to be on your team
    through your welcome page.
  • 3:50 - 3:54
Right click the welcome page link
    and select "Copy link address".
  • 3:54 - 3:57
Now you can paste the link
    to share with your followers.
  • 3:57 - 4:00
    To manage your incoming applications,
    go to the Members page
  • 4:00 - 4:02
    and click "Review Applications".
  • 4:03 - 4:06
Here you'll see how many seats you have
left on your Amara Community team.
  • 4:07 - 4:09
You can always upgrade your plan
if you run out of seats.
  • 4:14 - 4:17
    The Subtitle Workflow tab
allows you to add a review step
  • 4:17 - 4:19
    in the subtitling process.
  • 4:19 - 4:22
    When review is enabled,
    subtitles won't get published
  • 4:22 - 4:24
    without a second team member
    checking their work.
  • 4:24 - 4:27
    This can help ensure
    that your subtitles are accurate
  • 4:27 - 4:29
and safe from spammers and trolls.
  • 4:31 - 4:33
    If you want to customize
    how your team pages look,
  • 4:33 - 4:37
you can add a banner and logo
    from the Community Description tab.
  • 4:37 - 4:41
You can also update any info and messaging
you want displayed for your team.
  • 4:43 - 4:46
Now you're all set up and ready
    to start managing your team.
  • 4:47 - 4:48
Check out the links in the description
  • 4:48 - 4:51
    to find more resources
    about Amara Community teams.
  • 4:51 - 4:53
We're excited to help you get started.
