Sexual Orientation: A Spectrum Of Attraction

  • 0:00 - 0:03
    [MUSIC PLAYING]
  • 0:03 - 0:06
    Sexual orientation is one of
    the most fascinating aspects
  • 0:06 - 0:10
    of our existence, and that
    is because sexual thoughts
  • 0:10 - 0:12
    and attractions are
    experienced inside our minds.
  • 0:16 - 0:18
    Every individual's
    sexual orientation
  • 0:18 - 0:19
    is a bit different
    from the other,
  • 0:19 - 0:22
    just like personalities and
    appearances are slightly
  • 0:22 - 0:23
    different in each person.
  • 0:26 - 0:28
    Different people are attracted
    romantically or sexually
  • 0:28 - 0:31
    to various features and
    characteristics in others.
  • 0:36 - 0:37
    Some people do not
    feel attraction at all
  • 0:37 - 0:40
    and identify as asexual.
  • 0:40 - 0:42
    A person's feelings
    about attraction
  • 0:42 - 0:47
    can evolve, or may stay
    the same over time.
  • 0:47 - 0:49
    The same is true across
    cultures and countries
  • 0:49 - 0:51
    all over the world.
  • 0:51 - 0:54
    [MUSIC PLAYING]
  • 1:00 - 1:05
From when I was a small child, I
    remember myself falling in love
  • 1:05 - 1:05
    with boys.
  • 1:10 - 1:16
    Although, from time
    to time, in my dreams,
  • 1:16 - 1:18
    I would be fascinated
    by a beautiful women
  • 1:18 - 1:24
    or feel something from
    imagining a woman.
  • 1:24 - 1:27
    Now, I never found myself
attracted to a real life woman
  • 1:27 - 1:33
standing in front of me, so
    I consider myself straight.
  • 1:33 - 1:37
From a very early age, I
    experienced this feeling
  • 1:37 - 1:38
    that would later become
    attraction towards men.
  • 1:48 - 1:50
    For years, I was so
    afraid of dealing
  • 1:50 - 1:54
    with my sexual orientation,
until at the age of 21,
  • 1:54 - 1:58
I hooked up with a woman,
    and that made me realize,
  • 1:58 - 2:02
    finally, that women are
just not my cup of tea.
  • 2:02 - 2:04
    So from then on, I
    started the process
  • 2:04 - 2:08
    of accepting my feelings and
coming out as gay to my family
  • 2:08 - 2:10
    and friends.
  • 2:10 - 2:16
    I would probably define
    myself as pansexual.
  • 2:16 - 2:19
I'm more drawn to the soul
    and character and less
  • 2:19 - 2:21
    to a specific gender.
  • 2:24 - 2:29
    I had relationships with
all genders, as each of them
  • 2:29 - 2:32
    met a different
    emotional need of mine.
  • 2:32 - 2:35
    And for the past
    three years, I've
  • 2:35 - 2:38
    been living with an
    amazing woman who
  • 2:38 - 2:42
I'm still madly in love with.
  • 2:42 - 2:45
As you can see, there is a wide
    variety of sexual orientations.
  • 2:45 - 2:48
    Human sexual orientation
    is a spectrum.
  • 2:48 - 2:50
    As we open our minds
    further, we learn
  • 2:50 - 2:53
    to respect and accept the
    differences in each other
  • 2:53 - 2:55
    and realize that love
    and attraction may
  • 2:55 - 2:56
    come in many forms.
  • 2:56 - 2:59
