I've lived in Jerusalem for 25 years

to a

certain way of

life and it's evil Lord it's

wrong and Lord again

men who whether they were shouting it or

whether it was under their

breath went out and killed Jewish people

saying

great in the name of their God killing

people killing Jewish

people and Lord we've just we've just

gotten used to it lord it's it's

terrible though we sang that you are the

maker we just I I come before you Lord

and ask you to make a

way and Lord to change the

situation and to give our leaders

courage to change the

situation not not just by more

violence but with

wisdom wisdom Lord your

wisdom not the politics of the world's W

covenanted this land with Abraham Isaac

just before we uh close our worship in

prayer time I want to pray a prayer for

our Jewish Brethren family in the United

States I don't know how many of you read

the news follow the news

yesterday Senator Chuck Schumer who is

the most senior

uh us Jewish person in politics the

Senate Majority

Leader um gave a speech on the floor of

the Senate which is written up you can

see it on online a very impassioned and

eloquent plea to stand against the

anti-Semitism that is he said that we've

never seen like this

before in in the United States uh it was

very

significant but many of us in this room

have

relatives uh in the

US almost all of us I

think um and L we want to pray Lord we

we've always and for decades Lord we've

been

preaching what is it from Jeremiah 16 is

it the the the the hunters and the and

the Fishers and the that whole thing

though we've known we know that we knew

that that we know that the time would

come Lord would this be this wave of

anti-Semitism that would overcome even a

country which like the United States

which has been such a a a

safe home for our people Lord we pray

for our family and others to wake

up Lord we pray for them to come

home to understand that it's what they

it's the exact opposite what they see on

the news and blah blah blah this is

actually the safest place for Jewish

people we can fight back here we have an

army we have police we have

guns Lord I pray for my family members

to wake up Lord help us to communicate

properly to them

Lord Lord we know there are many many

many many Christians in the US who

understand this and will rise up and

will stand but there's it we've crossed

a line it

seems and with the number of Muslims and

what's happened in politics and Academia

and what's happened among among the

younger generation in America it's it it

just may be too late so Lord we pray we

pray for us just for the right message

to go out for our for the whole country

to be ready to accept a huge wave of

immigration and Lord let it come it's

it's the Fulfillment of

scripture Let It Come Lord bashem Yeshua

amen well beloved I want to study today

a little bit just do a Bible study from

this week's Torah portion which is VL

and it's primarily from chapter Genesis

chapter 32 onward and we'll learn learn

a few uh lessons from that there's

actually some interesting play on words

in Hebrew which you probably don't get

for those who read in Translation so I

like to go over a few of them few of

those with you and we'll uh start with

the word

m m we'll pick this up and the numbers

are a little different in the in the

Hebrew and uh sometimes in Translation

I'm picking up in Genesis

32 and this is uh verse two in the

Hebrew it might be one in the English or

another language and says this Lord we

just thank you for your wisdom and your

grace upon us hallelujah as we study the

word of truth thank you God Amen and I

just also want to encourage everybody

you can't take this for granted does

everybody know that we believe in

reading the Bible every

day both the law and the prophets and

the New Covenant you have to read it

every day that's rule number one for a

Believer any kind of believer we have

have to particularly today that there's

so much false information in the world

and you lose your Basics the basics of

what is right and wrong and truth and

and and lies it's amazing we have to be

reading our Bible every day hu you can't

trust your impressions you can't trust

social media and you can't trust you you

just having dreams and Visions because

that's based on partly on your feelings

you have to be grounded in reading the

word of God every day amen so I'm

picking it up here Yakov with about

Jacob and Jacob went on his way and the

angels of God met him met him sort of

bumped into him there or he bumped into

them and it

says and uh when and Jacob said um when

he saw them this

is the camp of God and he called the

place that he saw there Mahan now the

word Mahan there if you hear that some

of you can know that he I am at the end

means double like Yus is a double and

and so this is he's saying it's a double

camp and he says that because he sees

this group of angels and apparently the

Angels he saw them in two camps of

angels isn't that interesting is that

fascinating and then you go down a

couple of verses and he's speaking about

God blessing his his own life and look

what he says in verse

10 in English and I think it's verse 11

here in the

Hebrew not and he says uh I am too small

for all the grace and for all the truth

truth that you have done for your

servant for I came across the Jordan

with just my rod and I've came back here

being two camps so it's interesting do

you get the first comparison here Jacob

comes over and he says I see angels in

two camps and he looks down at his

family and he says well my family is in

two camps so we have two sets of two

camps angels and the family of Jacob

it's a very interesting play on words

because this is the word that you pick

up much later on in the Song of Solomon

talking about the Bride of the Lord when

he says he looks at she says you're

beautiful as the dance of two camps and

that's the mahanan so you have now three

levels are you follow you have the two

camps of the angels two camps of the

family of Jacob and then two camps of

whatever is the Bride of the Lord as we

picked up in Song of Solomon what a

beautiful pattern this is going on at Le

leads me to a uh a concept in Jewish

interpretation of of uh scriptures which

is called um

M it says and the Deeds of the

forefathers are aign to the children and

what it means is that when we read the

stories particularly in Genesis it is a

true story that happened to a certain

group of people and yet they're in the

Bible because it is a pattern for us to

learn from it's a un ival pattern why is

it Universal because in the Book of

Genesis that was that was the only

Believers that there were so what

happened to them is relevant to anybody

else so what happens in their lives

becomes a pattern for the rest of us did

you get that did I say that so enough

what because the the Patriarchs were the

first Believers whatever happened to

them sets a pattern for what's going to

happen to all the rest of the Believers

so when we read the stories of Abraham

and Isaac and Jacob and Joseph and and

on it's yet yes it's a true story about

those people but it's a it's setting a

Biblical pattern for us to look a

pattern for our own lives and here he

says he says well there's I see a double

Camp of angels my own family has turned

into a double camp and then later on the

song of pomon said where the double Camp

is the is the people of God the Bride of

the Lord what a beautiful uh and this is

all happening with Jacob here now why is

it happening with Jacob it's interesting

that God is trying to renew the same

Covenant that he's always had God's

never changed his plan the same thing

today as it was in the Garden of Eden

puts us in the Garden of Eden said be be

fruitful and multiply what's God's plan

to have a big family in a Garden of Eden

all over the Earth hasn't changed we

human beings keep messing it up he keeps

going back to it but at this but all

this time so he got to he got to Noah

who was one man and he renewed it and he

goes in Abra is it but he never with

Jacob something different happens

because he's got 12 sons the kingdom

starts to multiply and so you have the

first time you can see God's plan for a

group of people think about this never

really happened even from even from

Abraham it's Jacob and his sons start

the pattern of what God wants for the

people of

God that was a deep Point let me say it

again that with with Jacob's sons you

start the pattern of what God wants for

all the people of God because until

Jacob and his sons there were no people

of God you just had individual Believers

I mean even Abraham had had Isaac and

then Isaac had Jacob and Esau but now

with Jacob it starts to multiply so here

be becomes starts to enter in God's

secret for what he wants for the whole

human

race through a family of people what he

wanted from Adam and Eve when he said be

fruitful and multiply

now before that time God was still

saying what the pattern was but he

couldn't do it through people cuz he

didn't have the people so what did he do

it through a

rainbow remember we had only know it was

only one person some of us went out this

last week when we flew to uh Armenia for

an amazing conference I hope we have

time to talk about it at some other time

one of the most spiritually significant

conferences I've ever been in Gering in

believer conferences for 45 years and

one of the reasons was we took a group

of people out to the the foo Hills of

Mount Ararat where Noah's Covenant was

with the human race and it's like it

wasn't anything new it's not like I read

something new in the Bible but there it

was in front of your face you know and

and mount arat is enormous I didn't know

that it's huge it Towers over really the

whole nation of Armenia and all of in

Eastern Turkey it's enormous and you

stand in front of it and we we're were

trying to imagine a big rainbow being

over it and um and just thinking there

was God was was saying this was my plan

for all the nations for all the nations

to be the different colors in the

rainbow and the promise is as solid as

that mountain I never I never got that

before it's like if this mountain could

not be there then the promise wouldn't

be there and you get well this mountain

is this mountain is non going anywhere

the promise of God for all the nations

of the world to become a beautiful

harmonious multicolored glorious

Heavenly rainbow is still there and that

promise is as solid as that mountain is

and it's not going away well he had to

do with Noah as a as a rainbow oh that

was his purpose and so now the the God's

plan for the Nations is being multiplied

into a group of people so it becomes

much more real it's got a lot more

problems now because you have real real

people but on the other hand it's more

real and now so God's plan for all the

nations of the world which he first

promised to Adam and Eve which he made a

covenant with with Noah at the rainbow

at AR now is the first time in history

is starting to multiply into a family

with real children he says now I've got

two camps of people

here I think what he meant by that was

the sons of Leah and the sons of Rachel

were forming two camps at that

particular time the sons of Leo were

little larger but let's not forget that

Joseph was in the camp of of Rachel who

then he became the leader of of uh of

Egypt and became a much larger group and

so there's a play going out now starting

between the sons of Leah and the sons of

Rachel which then goes all through the

rest of the book of of Genesis and then

into actually all the scriptures into

the history of ancient Israel because

and then you have the the wars between

Israel and Judah this is all starting

here on those two camps

because the sons of Leah are from Judah

and then the sons of of Rachel are are

become become Israel and the and it this

play begins to go out and then it seems

to be when you cross the line at the New

Covenant then that multiplies out into

what we call Israel and the church it's

amazing but the double Camp theme is

starting right here and is growing into

the Nations and we're dealing with it

today that we are here as the Messianic

community trying to hold on to the

international eklesia with one hand and

trying to hold on to our people the

nation of Israel with the other hand the

two camps are still dancing around and

we're getting it straight a little bit

better now at least uh the Christian

world is starting to speak of judeo

Christian values and even the the nation

of Israel starting to pray with with

Christians that have come up here so

amazing thing is happening through but

the pattern has to start there with

Jacob do you understand because it

couldn't be anybody else he was the

first one that had multiple children in

the Kingdom what an amazing

thought now um so God makes a

promise to Jacob of what's going to

happen all the rest of the history for

his promises to the nations of the world

now the nations of the world are the

human population and out of each Nation

becomes a group of Believers a remnant

of faith of True Believers in every

nation and those remnants of Faith be

become what they become the Ecclesia

they become the church they become the

people of God now how do we say that uh

in Hebrew how do you say the word how do

we say congregation or church in Hebrew

it's the word kahila kahila amazing well

of course that's only started after the

book of Acts didn't it no uh-uh started

with well it started with and with Adam

and Eve and with Noah but let's look at

it now with with uh with uh Jacob let's

look at this here in Jacob and uh twice

we see in this in this story with him

the a a prophecy of the church now you

may have never seen this before but when

you see it in Hebrew it shouts out at

you what it is let's look at this in two

we'll compare two verses uh 283 and

3510 now let's go back to

28 chapter 28 um verse three that I have

it in in Hebrew is that right Genesis

28:3 and this is uh Isaac uh

blessing Jacob and here's what he says

to

him wow and elai will bless you and make

you fruitful and multiply what's that

obviously quoting Genesis 1 2 and and

and so he's saying that he's basically

saying look I haven't changed but now

it's going to multiply through and then

and then he says and this has never

happened

before he says you will become a you

will become a Congregation of peoples

kahal the root of the word for Kil which

then becomes Ecclesia we come becomes a

church he basically says here if we were

to put it in modern language he will

become an International Church of people

he will become an international Ecclesia

coming out of Jacob he says I'm

promising you to that what an amazing

thought and then he says the same thing

to him again let's go back up to where

we were in um let's look at this in uh

and in Genesis

35 verse 10-

11 Genesis 35 now this is the end of the

story so 28 and 35 are kind of the

beginning and the end of the story of

Jacob you get you get the same blessing

here

um start in verse

10 and so he says that verse and says um

and so God said to him your name will no

longer be called Jacob but you but you

will be called

Israel um and and you your name will be

called Israel he say so we'll get into

that later about become a prince of God

and then he says to him and and and God

said to him I am elai be fruitful and

multiply uh the nation and become a

again he says

aalim a

a Congregation of Gentile Nations

amazing that was a promise so you see it

at the beginning of the story the end of

the story will come out of you and Kings

will come out of your loins so you have

a promise to Jacob as he be as his

family begins to multiply God says now

my purpose is that I commanded Adam and

Eve and they blew it that I made a

covenant with Noah and they blew it and

I started with Abraham Isaac and and now

this is the first time I've got a

multiplying family immediately when

happens I'm I'm promising you to see

that you are going to become ail you are

going to become a Congregation of all

the peoples in the world wow from The

Book of Genesis amazing that's what we

mean

by that the that the works of the

forefather of the Patriarchs become

assigned to to the children now our

people don't see that the Jewish people

because you have to see that in Yeshua

but you see that the promise of the

International Church that would come out

of Israel and then be reconnected back

to Israel all happened there right right

with Jacob and actually if you follow

that it's promised from Abraham through

Joseph about six seven times throughout

the Patriarchs the same covenantal

promise and even later on when the

promise comes to Joseph and he says you

you will

become that you will become the fullness

of the Gentiles is what Paul quoted in

Romans 11 I just want to say the pattern

that from the family of Israel would

then come out multiply into the Nations

and that would become a community an

Ecclesia of Believers from all the

nations of the world is right there with

the Patriarchs Allelujah now let's come

back you remember what happened right

before this this weekly portion and that

is that Jacob went out to Syria to

Lebanon for how long was he there 20

years that's a long time he goes out 20

years and comes back back this is the

pattern of what Exile and restoration

Exile and restoration that's the pattern

of the whole Bible with the people of

Israel you go to Exile you come back you

go down to Egypt you come back you go

into Syria you come back you go to

Babylon and you come back you go and

this is this is the pattern because God

wants not just Israel he wants the

Nations it's setting up that Rhythm that

something's going to start in Israel go

to the Nations then come back from the

Nations to Israel and we're living in

that today amazing so we say so he comes

back 20 years which I think is symbolic

to the 2,000 years of our Exile and then

coming back to the land it's interesting

there that he was there in Syria whereas

of course then Moses and Abraham were in

in were in Egypt and that you have this

uh going back and forth between the

Nations by the way there's another uh

rinic way of of understanding the um the

Torah and the prophets uh which seems to

me so Accord according to the New

Covenant he says that every

story of the Torah is itself a

mash is a parable or a proverb and he

says you have to read in two ways in

every Mas there is the mas and the N

there is the the story itself and then

it's its Parable meaning but of course

it could be reversed depending how you

read it what is a parable to one person

is the is the story to another person

the other person's story is their

Parable it's it the Nim the Mas flip

according to how you're how you're

reading it but he said every story that

you read you have to see it on on on

both levels what is actually happening

and what is the the

parallel spiritual symbolic meaning to

the same story what an amazing thing to

to read that that you can read every

section that way that's very important

by the way later on because a lot of the

prophecies about Yeshua are in their

place they a prophecy to David and his

sons but we understand it to be a

parable not just to David and his sons

but to about the Messiah we see the

stories of Israel also being a parable

about the church we see and but that's

but that is an accepted rinic way of

understanding the text every text you

read in the Bible he says has another

meaning to it wow what a beautiful thing

all right let's go on so now he comes

back H from these uh 20 years in Exile

and what happens is right before he

comes in I don't know if you remember

that from the previous Torah portion he

he makes a covenant with laan and and

they set a

border it's a border between Israel and

Syria an amazing thing and then he comes

back with well lean but then we said

with Esau then you have Jordan and you

have with with Egypt and then you even

have with the Palestinians the Covenant

with ABI and F and you and you see God

even with the forefathers setting up a

pattern that there's a place for Israel

to live there's a place for Lebanon

there's a place for Jordan there's a

place for Syria there's a place for

Egypt and it's all there now even back

then most of the people were evil but

every time you had a righteous person

pop up oh God could set his pattern what

he wanted for them and so now Jacob has

come back after all this time H to meet

his brother Esau and we know the

story Jacob obeyed his mother and she

said don't worry the curse will be on me

and so then he got in trouble he I

wanted to kill him for stealing his

Birthright and his Blessing but uh

anyway so now he comes back he hasn't

seen his brother in 20 years the last

thing he heard about his brother was

saying I'm going to kill you as soon as

dad dies so he's been way for for 20

years he doesn't know what he's scared

like crazy he hasn't he's still the old

Jacob here he's trying to figure out

some ways if he can manipulate uh uh

Esau and to not killing him so he comes

up there he sends someone forward to see

a messenger the messenger comes back he

says ah well your brother hears that

you're coming and he's on his way with

400 armed

men and Jacob freaks out you know he

just the old the old man is just going

crazy here he sends the whole you know

the story he sends the whole family

there there at the area of pinam and he

sends them across the

theal and he waits there alone and of

course then he has this amazing

experience there in which he meets a man

of course it can't be a man because he's

called God and he can't be God the

father because he's called a man there's

only one person there's a mutually

exclusive set where you can only be God

and man there's only one person in that

place and that's Yeshua and he appears

every single place in the Torah and the

prophets he's the central figure not

just of the New Covenant he's the

central figure of the Torah and the

prophets so he meets this guy and he

looks him and so he starts wrestling

with him it's such an incredible thing

that he wrestles with him all night and

if I understand the text it's a it

depends a little bit how you interpret

the pronouns there but I think what he's

saying is that this man who we

understand to be the angel of the Lord

or Yeshua says to him you have

overpowered me and that was Yeshua comes

and wrestles with him as a man he

doesn't come with his glory in heaven he

just mess wrestles with with him as a

man and this guy won't let go of him and

you know I always looked at this thing

about Jacob the heel Grabber as always

kind of a negative thing but you know I

was thinking today there's something

about Jacob when he's saying this guy

just won't let go you know it doesn't

I'm thinking we need to be that way we

need to be that way because guys you and

I we're all just as messed up as Jacob

is but we we we hold on to the promises

of God I mean you feel like sometimes

everything's going wrong nothing's

working out but you know what if I have

to bite you Yeshua if I have to dig my

fingernails into you I'm not letting go

of the promises of God I don't care what

I see I don't care what I know it's it's

I'm holding on to that and it's like

Yeshua wrestles with them all night and

it's almost like you feel maybe I'm

reading the text but Yeshua is like

really enjoying this come on you know by

he man this guy just won't let go so he

says all right I'll take a little bit of

divinity here for a moment Bo he knocks

his he knocks his thigh out and he just

says um but so wrestling with him all

night and then you think and then he you

know he changes his name there I won't

read the passages you know that well but

he changes his name from Jacob which is

the heel Grabber to

Israel and now I don't know another

place that that root is used as a uh as

a verb maybe once in in Hosea but it's

mostly used as a noun as a prince and he

says you I'm changing you because of

you're wrestling with me from this old

personality to being a prince with God

in in symbolic sense he went through a

born again experience at this moment he

wrestled with Yeshua his character was

changed his name was change he was born

again at this moment and received this

new identity of being a prince with God

now that's also a pattern for us folks

you know we've all got that Jacob part

of it where we're just holding on to the

promises of God nothing's working out I

know who you are you know who I am we're

just as nasty as thinking as we always

were but we're all holding on to the

promises of God but God says no no

you're a prince you're a princess in the

kingdom of God and that's our new

identity that we're holding on to

amazing I'm sharing with an Israeli

friend who's just about ready to get

baptized and I was sharing this this

passage with he says what do you want me

to do next I said you need to I said

look at this passage I said this is what

you need to do you need to go to that

man you know who that man is so you need

to wrestle with him all night and until

he changes your character and then then

and when that happens the next thing he

does he crosses the water and I said

That's you have to get immersed in water

you have to you wrestle with the man you

get your identity changed and you cross

the water and that's where you then you

come into the blessings of God of of the

promised land unsaved Israeli men he got

it totally understood every got the

point I was also thinking for us when it

says he crossed over the river what word

do you think it is in Hebrew of

course which is the same word we have

for Hebrew aval and and the name Hebrew

means to cross the river you basically

means to get baptized you know me said

everybody who becomes a Believer has to

cross through the waters you may do it

coming out of Egypt you may going

through the Jordan you may do it through

pineal at the little yook but everybody

got to wrestle with God get your

character changed and then cross the

water to go into the next stage of your

life amazing that all that's there um

with uh uh with Jacob now let's do uh we

getting close to the end here let's uh

let me skip a couple of things here

let's go down let's just do one more

point in his

reconciliation with uh Esau uh let's

look up now in uh chapter uh

33 the of course in 32 what happens is

he finishes this time wrestling this man

he comes out and he said I just saw the

face of

God the man was the face of God that's

why I know it's Yeshua but this name and

then he comes up let's go up now into

going go in

33 when he now he sees Esau he comes up

to Esau I'll just tell it so we don't

have to read the read the verses he sees

Esau

Esau's running to him and Jacob's

thinking this is it it's

over bye-bye Promises of God and Esau

runs up to him and grabs him and kisses

him and the two of them begin to weep

now we take that as Believers here in

the land as one of the many examples

that despite all the hatred there is

between Arabs and Jews that when you get

to the right place of the Covenant we're

going to hug one another we're going to

weep we're going to kiss one another and

we're going to have a joint Destiny

together and an amazing thing after he

after after they get reconciled he says

this beautiful thing in verse 10 here

and he says

um and he says and Jacob says to him uh

don't don't do that if I have found

Grace in your eyes please take this gift

from from my hand because for now I have

seen your face as the face of God and

you have been reconciled to me he uses

the same word that he used in wrestling

with

Yeshua and says I've seen the face of

God he comes

across and and deals with his struggle

with Esau is reconciled and he says the

same words to him I have seen in your

face this face of God

what does that mean just end with this

thought I the only way I can understand

it is that he saw the face of Yeshua

before it was striking to him and then

when he was reconciled with Esau he

looked at him and he saw something in

Esau's eyes that reminded him of

something he saw in yeshua's eyes and

the angel of the Lord he said wow I've

seen your the the face of God in you and

you've become reconciled with me

what I think we we need and of course

you know ornes wrote this amazing book

about the faces of God because the word

of face in Hebrew is is plural which you

don't get that in other nations so it

means the face of God you see it in

Yeshua but then you also see it a little

bit of his character in other people the

face of God is reflected in Yeshua but

also in the eyes of other people so he

was the first one to experience he saw

the face of God in Yeshua and then was

reconciled with Esau he saw at least

some something that reminded him in

Esau's face of what he saw in the face

of God so we take that um to mean a you

know that we can see God in other people

God reveals himself through Yeshua but

he can also reveal himself to us through

other people and we believe that through

faith in Yeshua that we can be

reconciled with Arabs and Jews my time

is up one more quick thought but you

know we we just had another terrorist

attack this morning we got up this

morning to a ter several people were

killed looks like there a few in the

hospital look like they're about to die

but but we but we believe that we can be

reconciled taking this as Jacob and ISO

as a pattern that we can be reconciles

as Jews and Arabs on one condition we

got to go through what Jacob went you

cannot be reconciled through politics

through diplomacy through right-wing

policy through leftwing policy you can't

be Jewish enough you can't be liberal

enough it's not going to work there's

only one way Jews and Arabs need to be

born again through the faith in Yeshua

and then we will love one another and

kiss one and let's remind ourselves of

that in all this difficult politics and

everything we're going through and our

kids and our husbands and our brothers

are all in the army fighting but the

ultimate solution is in the gospel of

Yeshua to change people's hearts you

can't make an outward agreement you

can't have a peace agreement on the

outside if people's hearts haven't been

changed on the inside first

and that's why we share the gospel When

people's hearts are changed it's easy

for Jews and Arabs to love one another

and come to real peace for eternity amen

father we thank you that we learn these

blessons from uh from Jacob and from

Esau and from pel and the whole pattern

that we see of Jacob's family then

becoming the International Community of

Faith wow thank you Lord and I just pray

that we can all continue to meditate on

scriptures understand your plan your

pattern your purpose and submit to it

and be actively synergizing with it and

participating with it in yeshua's name
