Our first problem invasive fish species is the mosquitofish. the mosquitofish was originally native to the southern united states and Mexico but has now been introduced into many other countries around the world. They were originally imported to help combat the spread of malaria but have now become a problem species to get rid off.

Our next invasive fish species is the brown trout. Many people see the brown trout as a positive fish to have in an ecosystem as they're a popular food fish and they are also very popular with fishermen. The brown trout was originally native to continents in the united states but has since been introduced into the southern hemisphere when it continues to threaten vulnerable species of fish such as the new Zealand native galaxiids.

Our next Invasive fish species is the walking catfish. The walking catfish is originally native to south east Asia but has since been introduced into places such as the USA. The walking catfish is a particular problem as its able to move from one water source to the other by "walking" across land.

Our Forth invasive fish species is the northern snakehead. The northern snakehead is a tough hardy predatory fish and because of this it can have a huge impact on an ecosystem where it doesn't belong. One of the reasons why it has had such an impact in the US is because it can survive in cold water and it is also a great parent.

Our last invasive fish species is the common pleco. The common pleco is originally native to south America but has become a notorious invasive species all thanks to the aquarium trade. Plecos are often sold while they are small but of course grow very large. The common pleco is a particular problem in Florida as they pester manatees and erode river banks.
