How To Vote In Georgia 2020

0:04 - 0:06Hello Georgia! If you want to be
able to vote in November -
0:06 - 0:08you’re going to have to register first

0:08 - 0:10You can check using the link below

0:10 - 0:12to see if you’re registered already
If you’re not -
0:12 - 0:13or if you’ve moved or changed
your name since the last time -
0:13 - 0:17you voted you can use that same link

0:17 - 0:18to fill out a registration application
-
0:18 - 0:20For those of you who have a valid
-
0:20 - 0:23Georgia driver’s license, you'll be able to to enter that license
number -
0:23 - 0:24and submit the form online
-
0:24 - 0:25If you don’t have a Georgia license
-
0:25 - 0:27they’ll ask you to print it out, sign it
-
0:27 - 0:29and mail it in. Like, with a stamp.

0:29 - 0:31I know it’s annoying but it’s important
so do it anyway -
0:31 - 0:33The deadline to register is October 5th
-
0:33 - 0:35if you want to vote in the general
election on November 3rd -
0:35 - 0:36So once you’re registered you
-
0:36 - 0:38have a couple different options

0:38 - 0:39for how you can vote
-
0:39 - 0:40Anyone in Georgia can vote by mail
-
0:40 - 0:43otherwise known as voting absentee
for any reason -
0:43 - 0:44All you have to do is download the
form in the link below -
0:44 - 0:48fill it out and mail it to your county board of registrar's office
-
0:48 - 0:50there’s a link to all their addresses
in the description -
0:50 - 0:53technically Georgia accepts absentee
ballot requests up until October 30th -
0:53 - 0:56but the sooner you apply to vote
absentee, the sooner you get your -
0:56 - 0:59ballot and the longer that you will have
to look it over and make your decisions -
0:59 - 1:01and mail it back before November 3rd

1:01 - 1:04you can also vote early in person
from October 12th through 30th the -
1:04 - 1:06hours and locations vary by county
-
1:06 - 1:08but all counties are required to allow you to
-
1:08 - 1:11vote early on at least one Saturday if
voting on the weekend is easier for you -
1:11 - 1:15there's a link in the description where
you can just select your county -
1:15 - 1:16and it will tell you when and
where you can go vote early -
1:16 - 1:20if you really want all the excitement of
voting in person on November 3rd -
1:20 - 1:22though you can find out where to go to vote

1:22 - 1:24using the same link you used to register

1:24 - 1:26Polls are open from 7am to 7pm statewide
-
1:26 - 1:28You’ll need to bring an ID with you
-
1:28 - 1:32They’ll accept a driver’s license,
state ID, passport, military ID or tribal ID -
1:32 - 1:35If you don’t have any of those forms of
identification -
1:35 - 1:39you can get a free voter ID card at your
County Registrar’s office or the DMV -
1:39 - 1:43The hours that those offices are open can vary
and you’ll also need a birth certificate -
1:43 - 1:45and a proof of address to get one
so if you need free voter ID -
1:45 - 1:47start working on that now

1:47 - 1:49if you want to see everything
that you’ll be able to vote for -
1:49 - 1:52there’s a link below to where you can
find your sample ballot -
1:52 - 1:55it’s the same link that you’ll use to
register and check your voting location -
1:55 - 1:57This gives you a chance to research
the candidates -
1:57 - 1:59for your local elections ahead of time

1:59 - 2:02You don’t have to vote for every item on
the ballot if you don’t want to -
2:02 - 2:05but if you do want to have an impact on
those important local elections -
2:05 - 2:07it’s really helpful to know what’s going
to be on there -
2:07 - 2:09before you walk into the voting booth

2:09 - 2:12If you want, you can print one out
and bring it to the polls with you -
2:12 - 2:14so you can remember how you want to vote

2:14 - 2:16One last thing: if you’re going to vote

2:16 - 2:19open up your notes app or grab a piece
of paper and make a plan -
2:19 - 2:21Write down when and how you’re going to register

2:21 - 2:23what time you’re gonna vote
how you’re gonna get there -
2:23 - 2:25what ID you’re going to use

2:25 - 2:26even who you’re
going to bring to the polls with you -
