Introduction to Communication Science week 6: 6.8 About the exam

  • 0:10 - 0:14
In the final clip of this Question and Answer
week I want to answer some questions
  • 0:14 - 0:18
I received on the exam. What to expect?
  • 0:18 - 0:22
The exam consists of one hundred multiple
    choice questions.
  • 0:22 - 0:25
Each question has, just like the weekly practice
    questions,
  • 0:25 - 0:29
three possible answers, only one of which is
    correct.
  • 0:29 - 0:32
I have tried to make the questions comparable
to what you are used to,
  • 0:32 - 0:36
    so I don' expect any
    surprises there.
  • 0:36 - 0:40
The topics are of course everything that we
    discussed in the weekly lectures
  • 0:40 - 0:45
and just to avoid misunderstanding, that also
    includes this week's contents.
  • 0:46 - 0:51
The contents of the Little Box of Nuance,
however, are not part of the exam.
  • 0:51 - 0:59
I will ask you to define concepts, name theories
    and models, mention important scholars,
  • 0:59 - 1:04
    technological innovations, pick the correct
approach that fits one particular statement.
  • 1:04 - 1:09
All of these things. Basically everything that we
    practiced.
  • 1:09 - 1:15
Well I recommend that you use the text files
we've made available of the lecture transcripts.
  • 1:15 - 1:20
and the practice questions. I'm sure they will
    come in handy.
  • 1:20 - 1:22
You have one week to fill in the exam.
  • 1:22 - 1:27
You will have to look on our website for the final
    date to submit the exam.
  • 1:27 - 1:31
Your certificate with your grade will be emailed
    to you within three weeks.
  • 1:31 - 1:33
  • 1:33 - 1:39
Just something else. I can imagine it's very
tempting to use offline or online help,
  • 1:39 - 1:44
while making the exam. But I strongly
    recommend against this.
  • 1:44 - 1:48
As you know, your certificate and grade is solely
    for yourself.
  • 1:48 - 1:51
It does not give you university credits
  • 1:51 - 1:54
and it is not comparable to our regular
    certificates.
  • 1:54 - 2:00
It is a certificate of participation. An indicator of
    your interest in our field,
  • 2:00 - 2:05
and your personal commitment and dedication
    to follow this course through.
  • 2:05 - 2:07
Therefore, make it a real reflection of your
    knowledge and understanding
  • 2:07 - 2:14
I'm sure you will value it more that way.
  • 2:14 - 2:18
In week eight I will a present a behind the scene
    look on our MOOC
  • 2:18 - 2:23
It's about why we made this course, how we
    made it, who made it,
  • 2:23 - 2:28
things we learned on the way, who you are, and
what you thought of the course,
  • 2:28 - 2:33
according to the survey we sent out, and what
    future improvements might be.
  • 2:33 - 2:39
Also, we'll talk about the exam, how well you
did, and how many people finished the entire
  • 2:39 - 2:41
    course within our set timeframe.
  • 2:41 - 2:45
I wish you good luck for next week.
