June 21 - Saturday for December

  • 0:06 - 0:12
    Yangon, Myanmar's largest city,
is home to more than 7 million people,
  • 0:12 - 0:14
    each carrying their own
    hopes and struggles.
  • 0:15 - 0:18
Among them is a young Adventist
    named December.
  • 0:19 - 0:21
    She was filled with joy
    when she discovered
  • 0:21 - 0:23
    the Seventh-day Adventist message
    and was baptized.
  • 0:24 - 0:27
    However, she soon encountered
    challenges in her faith journey.
  • 0:29 - 0:31
    December lived in the countryside
  • 0:31 - 0:33
    where there were
    limited job opportunities.
  • 0:33 - 0:37
To support herself and her family,
she had to move to the city for work.
  • 0:37 - 0:41
There she found that many companies
    demanded work on Sabbath.
  • 0:42 - 0:43
    December found herself torn
  • 0:43 - 0:46
    between supporting her family
    and honoring her faith.
  • 0:47 - 0:51
    Our Adventist young people have
difficulty in looking for a job.
  • 0:52 - 0:53
    And aside from that,
  • 0:54 - 0:56
    when we did this survey,
  • 0:56 - 1:00
    we found out that many
    of our young people still
  • 1:00 - 1:02
from the province come in to the city,
  • 1:02 - 1:05
and yet we have never seen them
    in the church.
  • 1:05 - 1:07
Because once they got a job,
  • 1:07 - 1:10
    it is difficult for them
    to have a Sabbath off.
  • 1:11 - 1:13
    Given these challenges,
  • 1:13 - 1:15
it's clear that a concrete solution
    is needed.
  • 1:16 - 1:19
    More and more people
    are coming to the city,
  • 1:19 - 1:23
and it is very crucial for us
    as a Seventh-day Adventist Church
  • 1:23 - 1:28
to have a center that will influence
or that will impact positive life,
  • 1:28 - 1:31
    that will bring hope
to the city dwellers in Yangon.
  • 1:31 - 1:35
The center will help youth find jobs
where they won't have to work on Sabbath.
  • 1:36 - 1:38
    Additionally, the center will train
    and prepare missionaries.
  • 1:39 - 1:41
And as for the city dwellers,
  • 1:41 - 1:43
they will come just to have
  • 1:44 - 1:47
    an authentic encounter
with our savior Lord Jesus Christ.
  • 1:48 - 1:49
    With this vision in place,
  • 1:49 - 1:52
we ask for your support in prayer.
  • 1:52 - 1:55
    Please pray for the project
    that we will have
  • 1:55 - 1:57
    in this Myanmar Union mission,
  • 1:57 - 1:59
for the success of the project,
  • 1:59 - 2:03
    and also for the success
    of bringing people to Jesus.
  • 2:04 - 2:05
    This quarter,
  • 2:05 - 2:07
a portion of the 13th Sabbath Offering
  • 2:07 - 2:10
wil help construct an urban center
    of influence in Yangon, Myanmar.
  • 2:11 - 2:13
    This center will provide
    training for youth
  • 2:13 - 2:15
    and offer non-believers an opportunity
  • 2:15 - 2:18
to experience God in a transformative way.
  • 2:21 - 2:24
If this project is truly materialized,
  • 2:24 - 2:27
    the Adventist's youth
    will be closer to God.
  • 2:27 - 2:31
    And at the same time,
they will be exposed to the outside world,
  • 2:31 - 2:34
but they will have a stronger tie
to the church as a family.
  • 2:37 - 2:42
Thank you so much for supporting
the 13th Sabbath Offering for Myanmar.
