TOP 5 - The Worst Endings of Mortal Kombat 4 (N64)

  • 0:00 - 0:03
    Passagem Secreta Presents
  • 0:03 - 0:05
    >> Rafael Fernandes: Mortal Kombat 9 is there,
  • 0:05 - 0:10
restarting the series with extremely detailed graphics and fatalities more sadistic than ever.
  • 0:10 - 0:15
However, more than 10 years ago, the series made its first transition to 3D,
  • 0:15 - 0:18
while it tried to keep the fun of the two-dimensional trilogy.
  • 0:19 - 0:22
While Mortal Kombat 4 was very well received by critics,
  • 0:22 - 0:27
it seems that players have not seen much fun in polygonal characters a bit rubbery,
  • 0:27 - 0:31
and not even with the return of the series to the more darker, more violent environment.
  • 0:31 - 0:36
Still, the game was ported by Eurocom for the PlayStation, PC and Nintendo 64,
  • 0:36 - 0:39
and as expected for the Nintendo console,
  • 0:39 - 0:44
there was a series of cuts to fit the game in the 16 mega capacity of the cartridge.
  • 0:44 - 0:46
    Yeah, 16 mega!
  • 0:46 - 0:48
    Besides the highly-compressed sound,
  • 0:48 - 0:52
the opening and ending CGs of each character were replaced with small films,
  • 0:52 - 0:55
using graphics generated in real time by the console itself.
  • 0:55 - 0:59
And if these original endings already were not that great,
  • 0:59 - 1:03
imagine using all the power of the video game allied with the unwillingness of some programmers.
  • 1:03 - 1:09
So, stay there to check out the most ridiculous endings of Mortal Kombat 4.
  • 1:15 - 1:17
Reiko was a newcomer in that game.
  • 1:17 - 1:20
With good moves and a cool appearance,
  • 1:20 - 1:24
    the character was well received by fans, despite its mysterious story;
  • 1:24 - 1:27
so mysterious that they decided that this would be the ending for him.
  • 1:51 - 1:53
    Wait, that's it?
  • 1:53 - 1:56
This is one of the least rewarding endings I've ever seen.
  • 1:56 - 1:59
How could he enter a portal so poorly done, without even explaining anything?
  • 1:59 - 2:01
    Well, go figure.
  • 2:02 - 2:03
In the fourth place, we have Liu Kang,
  • 2:03 - 2:07
that since is the protagonist, has a somewhat more elaborate ending,
  • 2:07 - 2:09
    though a little disappointing, eh.
  • 2:09 - 2:10
    Check it out.
  • 3:04 - 3:06
    >>Rafael Fernandes: Stop, stop, stop everything!
  • 3:06 - 3:10
So you mean that Kitana, at her best "Talisa Soto" style,
  • 3:10 - 3:14
appears and invites him to rule a realm full of riches and plenty of lust,
  • 3:14 - 3:16
    and Liu Kang refuses?
  • 3:20 - 3:21
    >>Rafael Fernandes: For God's sake, huh.
  • 3:21 - 3:23
Well, with someone screaming with a voice so thin, it was expected, huh.
  • 3:25 - 3:28
Now we have Johnny Cage, who, as always,
  • 3:28 - 3:29
    is unconnected in the story.
  • 3:29 - 3:32
And has gotten an adequate ending, take a look.
  • 4:16 - 4:19
    >>Rafael Fernandes: Well, if anyone has any plausible explanation for this,
  • 4:19 - 4:22
please, do not forget to send your letter to the show, okay?
  • 4:23 - 4:26
In second place, we have Quan Chi, who seems to have something wrong.
  • 4:26 - 4:29
Despite having one of the best fatalities of the game,
  • 4:29 - 4:31
    he has serious muscle problems,
  • 4:31 - 4:34
having many spasms in most of his animations.
  • 4:34 - 4:36
Take a look at his ending, so you will know better.
  • 5:36 - 5:39
    >>Rafael Fernandes: Evil tongues say that Quan Chi had an epileptic seizure after that.
  • 5:39 - 5:41
    Does not surprise me much.
  • 5:42 - 5:45
And, in the very first place, not only one, but three characters!
  • 5:45 - 5:49
As Sonya, Jax and Jarek, who is a disciple of Kano,
  • 5:49 - 5:53
share the same story in the tournament, they have more or less the same ending.
  • 5:53 - 5:56
What you will see now, more precisely, is the ending of Jax,
  • 5:56 - 6:00
that from all three, is the one with the largest number of poorly done things in this little film.
  • 6:00 - 6:03
What you will see now is quite disturbing.
  • 6:03 - 6:05
Get the children out of the room.
  • 7:11 - 7:14
    >>Rafael Fernandes: Let's go back a little and think a bit: would it not be better like this?
  • 7:26 - 7:29
    >>Rafael Fernandes: Seriously, guys, this is "THE" ridiculous ending.
  • 7:29 - 7:33
Not only the script that was written by someone who has the mental age of 10,
  • 7:33 - 7:37
the animations are ridiculous, and what Jarek tries to say when he falls from the cliff, eh?
  • 7:41 - 7:43
    >>Rafael Fernandes: It's better not to know it.
  • 7:50 - 7:52
Of course the game has many other poorly done endings.
  • 7:52 - 7:56
This video was just to show that while we are in the era of photorealism,
  • 7:56 - 8:00
there have been times when technological limitations gifted us with things like these,
  • 8:00 - 8:02
and the worst: we loved them.
  • 8:03 - 8:06
Although almost forgotten, Mortal Kombat 4 can still be fun,
  • 8:06 - 8:09
    even if unintentionally, eh.
  • 8:13 - 8:17

Title:
TOP 5 - The Worst Endings of Mortal Kombat 4 (N64)
Description:

Mortal Kombat 4 is a Midway game released originally for the arcades in 1997. The title, O título, responsible for the transition of the digitized graphics of real actors for the 3D polygonal models, was ported in the following year by Eurocom for the PlayStation and Nintendo 64.

As the Nintendo's console used cartridge as media, the storage space of the game was very limited. Therefore, the endings of the characters had to be reproduced with the graphics of the game, instead of CGs in the game from Sony. The result ended up being pretty lame, and you can see some of the worst endings here in the video.
