-
7:02 - 7:03(Applause)
-
7:03 - 7:04So ...
-
7:04 - 7:06we are the Showhawk Duo.
-
7:06 - 7:10My name is Jake.
This is my good friend Mikhail. -
7:10 - 7:13And we met about 10 years ago,
-
7:13 - 7:15and we've been in a band ever since.
-
7:15 - 7:19We met through a mutual love
of good music and playing the guitar. -
7:19 - 7:21Mikhail: As simple as that.
-
7:22 - 7:26That's right, and this next song
we're going to play for you guys, -
7:26 - 7:28it started life as
a classical piece of music. -
7:29 - 7:31It was written by a guy
called Samuel Barber. -
7:32 - 7:37And then it was remixed in the '90s
by a DJ called Tiesto. -
7:38 - 7:41This is Adagio for Strings.
-
7:41 - 7:44(Music)
-
8:25 - 8:28(Music ends)
-
8:32 - 8:35(Music)
-
9:09 - 9:11(Cheers) (Applause)
-
10:53 - 10:55(Applause) (Cheers) (Whistles)
-
11:44 - 11:46(Audience clapping along)
-
11:47 - 11:50(Whistles)
-
12:46 - 12:49(Cheers)
-
14:56 - 14:57(Music ends)
-
14:57 - 14:59(Applause) (Cheers)
-
14:59 - 15:01Jake: Thank you very much.
-
15:09 - 15:12Mikhail: We didn't want to do
too much talking, so I'll be quick. -
15:12 - 15:17Our philosophy is to always try to play
the most unexpected thing you can expect -
15:17 - 15:18on the guitar.
-
15:18 - 15:20I know that doesn't make any sense,
-
15:20 - 15:21and -
-
15:22 - 15:24So bearing that in mind,
-
15:24 - 15:26we are going to move away
from the dance music, -
15:26 - 15:32and we're going to play you our rendition
of Queen's classic, Bohemian Rhapsody. -
15:32 - 15:34(Cheers) (Applause)
-
15:34 - 15:37J: Okay. Ah. See?
You're all in good voice. -
15:37 - 15:41So as I am sure, you're all aware
by now, we don't sing. -
15:41 - 15:43We strictly play guitar.
We're not very good at singing. -
15:43 - 15:45But you guys are all in really good voice.
-
15:45 - 15:49So it'd be really nice if we could get
a few of you to join in and sing along. -
15:49 - 15:53If you do or don't know the words, feel
free to make them up as you go along. -
15:53 - 15:54Most people do that anyway.
-
15:54 - 15:57Yeah, this is Queen's Bohemian
Rhapsody. Thank you very much. -
15:57 - 16:00(Cheers) (Applause)
-
17:03 - 17:06(Music)
-
19:16 - 19:18(Cheers)
-
20:14 - 20:16(Cheers)
-
22:30 - 22:32(Applause) (Cheers) (Whistles)
-
22:41 - 22:43(Music ends)
-
22:43 - 22:44Thank you.
-
22:44 - 22:46(Cheers)
-
22:46 - 22:47Thank you very much.
-
22:47 - 22:49Thank you very, very much.
-
22:49 - 22:51(Applause)

Music works a lot like language does - except instead of words and ideas, it expresses emotions and intent. It also gives us an oxytocin boost, which plays an important role in increasing the bonding and trust between people. The Showhawk Duo bonded with TEDxKlagenfurt’s audience with their spectacular approach to playing the guitar. Listen to the magic they created on stage with their version of Insomnia - I can't get no sleep, Tiesto’s Adagio For Strings, or the most unexpected thing you can expect on a guitar: Bohemian Rhapsody.
Young British guitarists Mikhail Asanovic and Jake Wright, together known as the Showhawk Duo, started out as buskers and have since gone on to play all over the globe. They have appeared on BBC Radio 1 on the Nick Grimshaw’s Breakfast Show and have performed for the LAD Bible and BBC Radio Bristol. They have played in the UK's largest festivals, including the Main Stage at Bestival, Glastonbury, Secret Garden Party, Wilderness, Somersault and more. International performances include F1 Grand Prix in Singapore, Seychelles, club tours in Spain, Switzerland and the Netherlands and a 20-day residency at Pacha in Ibiza.
