    Christ Consciousness
    (with subtitles)
  • 0:15 - 0:19
I'm not good on days like that,
    yesterday or day before yesterday,
  • 0:19 - 0:22
but I feel it was yesterday, in the morning,
  • 0:22 - 0:25
    well, even from the night,
  • 0:25 - 0:38
I was totally filled with some deep, deep fire
    to share something.
  • 0:38 - 0:42
    It usually starts like that,
I don't know what I want to talk about.
  • 0:42 - 0:54
    Just it comes first
with a tremendous depth of a feeling.
  • 0:54 - 1:00
    And it's full,
it was full, full, full love and full power,
  • 1:00 - 1:04
full Holy Spirit Presence, full like that.
  • 1:04 - 1:08
It was like 3 o'clock in the morning,
  • 1:08 - 1:10
    [laughter]
  • 1:13 - 1:15
    and there's nobody around.
  • 1:15 - 1:21
[Mooji] So, I started having Satsang with emptiness,
    in the emptiness.
  • 1:21 - 1:24
I just had to speak it out, speak it out,
  • 1:24 - 1:28
    and I had this feeling
that I was speaking to people all over the world.
  • 1:28 - 1:32
I don't know, it was just like that.
    Sometimes these things come,
  • 1:32 - 1:35
and to the mind they are not convenient at all.
  • 1:35 - 1:38
This should be really about lunchtime,
  • 1:38 - 1:43
    maybe this would be
a really good message for Christmas.
  • 1:43 - 1:46
But 3 o'clock in the morning and it was like that.
  • 1:46 - 1:52
And it was so totally full, full,
  • 1:52 - 1:56
    that even after I fell off to sleep;
  • 1:56 - 2:00
    this heat, this beautiful heat
  • 2:00 - 2:03
    still continued shimmering, shimmering, shimmering,
  • 2:03 - 2:06
and it spilt out a little bit in the daytime.
  • 2:06 - 2:10
I felt, Maybe I have to talk about something,
  • 2:10 - 2:15
and I spoke a few words
that came out of that space, for a little bit.
  • 2:15 - 2:18
And then today it was a feeling,
  • 2:18 - 2:24
maybe I would talk a little bit about Jesus.
  • 2:24 - 2:29
But I thought, Maybe, should I read something
    from the Bible?
  • 2:29 - 2:32
I went and looked and I couldn't find anything,
  • 2:32 - 2:37
it was just not coming to ...
  • 2:37 - 2:41
    Nothing was coming like that.
  • 2:45 - 2:50
So, I felt that I couldn't tell you about Jesus.
  • 2:50 - 2:54
I can't tell you 'about' Jesus.
  • 2:54 - 3:00
But I feel I could introduce you to Jesus
    inside your own heart!
  • 3:00 - 3:04
    Maybe something like that.
  • 3:04 - 3:08
Because to tell you 'about' something,
  • 3:08 - 3:10
it feels like it's not here.
  • 3:10 - 3:15
Like we'll talk about someone who is not here.
  • 3:15 - 3:18
But when you are here, I don't talk about you.
  • 3:18 - 3:21
    I must talk with you.
  • 3:21 - 3:27
    But because, actually,
I don't perceive Jesus as other,
  • 3:27 - 3:34
or you may say, the Christ Consciuosness.
  • 3:34 - 3:40
So, how to speak 'about' this?
  • 3:40 - 3:46
I feel the way in which we must speak
    about Lord Krishna
  • 3:46 - 3:55
or Ramana, or Papaji, or Lord Buddha,
    or Lord Christ
  • 3:55 - 4:03
is only by way of direct experience,
    not just talking about.
  • 4:03 - 4:09
Because 'about' turns in the mind
    and it trips on it.
  • 4:16 - 4:18
    How can I introduce you,
  • 4:18 - 4:24
how can we be introduced to Christ Consciousness?
  • 4:29 - 4:34
If it is outside of us,
if it is other than what we are,
  • 4:38 - 4:44
    then you're going to have
to do something extraordinary to reach it.
  • 4:44 - 4:53
You have to be something other
than what you are to reach it also.
  • 4:53 - 4:58
    And you've heard
that you can only meet God inside your heart.
  • 4:58 - 5:03
You can only read, understand or feel
    or experience the Buddha.
  • 5:03 - 5:09
    To read about Buddha,
it gives you a sense of the life.
  • 5:09 - 5:14
Your mind will fill in the rest,
    imagination is always needed.
  • 5:14 - 5:22
But how can you meet the Lord of the Heart
    without imagination?
  • 5:30 - 5:38
So the only way I know is to not be preoccupied
  • 5:38 - 5:41
with anything else for a moment.
  • 5:41 - 5:45
    Or to leave everything else,
whatever you may know as else.
  • 5:45 - 5:49
And what do we call else?
  • 5:49 - 5:55
Meaning something that you can perceive
    phenomenally, objectively,
  • 5:55 - 6:00
whether it is a thought, or an object,
    or even imagined;
  • 6:00 - 6:05
actual, real, or whatever, the senses,
  • 6:05 - 6:10
    anything that you can perceive
through the senses or the mind,
  • 6:10 - 6:13
will for a while be other.
  • 6:13 - 6:18
Later we can come to see if other is other.
  • 6:18 - 6:22
So, let's leave all those things aside
    for a moment,
  • 6:22 - 6:29
because they depend upon your being here first
    to perceive them,
  • 6:29 - 6:35
to perceive their presence and their absence.
  • 6:35 - 6:40
So, whatever perceives them, must outlast them,
  • 6:40 - 6:45
meaning that it is not carried away by them.
  • 6:45 - 6:48
Like a space in which they appear and disappear
  • 6:48 - 6:52
but the space does not go.
  • 6:58 - 7:06
If we see someone like Christ
from the standpoint of a person,
  • 7:06 - 7:09
then you'll want to see Him as another person.
  • 7:09 - 7:11
    Then you can say, 'Yes',
  • 7:11 - 7:14
and that may be a tremendous experience
  • 7:14 - 7:17
to say, Oh my God, Ramana or Jesus
  • 7:17 - 7:20
appeared to me yesterday and we talked
  • 7:20 - 7:24
    and I was completely filled
with just the most amazing feelings,
  • 7:24 - 7:28
and they are still here after the dream has ended,
  • 7:28 - 7:32
it's like, He is in me. Or something like that.
  • 7:32 - 7:38
That would be a very powerful encounter.
  • 7:38 - 7:43
But what if Jesus is even nearer than intimacy?
  • 7:50 - 7:54
    What if He is gapless,
  • 7:54 - 7:59
    meaning that there's no separation?
  • 8:06 - 8:09
    Then how would you know?
  • 8:09 - 8:13
If you can see, either you see everything
  • 8:13 - 8:16
    as only sensations in consciousness,
  • 8:16 - 8:22
    ideas in consciousness,
    phenomenon coming and going,
  • 8:22 - 8:25
and you come to a total understanding
  • 8:25 - 8:28
    that the perceiver of them
and they are not the same,
  • 8:28 - 8:31
especially the perceiver of all of that,
  • 8:31 - 8:37
the world of thought and time and whatever.
  • 8:37 - 8:40
That without you, the perceiver, they are not,
  • 8:40 - 8:44
so you are primary in this.
  • 8:44 - 8:47
So whatever is seemingly is secondary,
  • 8:47 - 8:52
that comes after you, you leave it.
  • 8:52 - 8:57
And we can do it now.
  • 8:57 - 9:01
    Don't hold onto any thought,
    or any idea, any desire,
  • 9:01 - 9:05
anything that you may feel attached to even.
  • 9:05 - 9:10
Even our idea of God, or idea of Christ
  • 9:10 - 9:13
    or the Buddha or scriptures,
  • 9:13 - 9:19
    hold onto nothing at all,
    because they come and go.
  • 9:19 - 9:23
Not even by your will, they come and go.
  • 9:23 - 9:26
    But you are the witness,
    or something is the witness
  • 9:26 - 9:30
    of their coming and going.
  • 9:30 - 9:34
Even the idea about yourself comes and goes
  • 9:34 - 9:40
What is that that does not come and go?
  • 9:40 - 9:46
Which requires no effort to be?
  • 9:51 - 9:57
    Requires no imagination.
  • 9:57 - 10:04
    Because imagination is also phenomenal.
  • 10:04 - 10:10
Then leaving aside all notions of other,
    and even of 'I',
  • 10:16 - 10:21
    this is the space
in which the Christ light appears,
  • 10:21 - 10:26
    the Buddha appears,
what is called the Buddha nature,
  • 10:26 - 10:29
the Christ nature arises in this.
  • 10:29 - 10:35
    Not the person only.
  • 10:35 - 10:38
The person comes through the mind,
  • 10:38 - 10:44
but the essence arises here, in this space.
  • 10:44 - 10:47
Even your own sense of Self arises here
  • 10:47 - 10:49
and is perceived only in the mind.
  • 10:49 - 10:55
But the essence is here, in this essential place.
  • 10:55 - 10:58
    This is your Christ space.
  • 10:58 - 11:01
    It is an unshared space.
  • 11:01 - 11:07
    There is not two.
To meet, there must be two.
  • 11:07 - 11:10
    Here, there is not two.
  • 11:10 - 11:14
And even, there is not one.
  • 11:19 - 11:24
It does not come and go.
  • 11:24 - 11:26
    It has no form.
  • 11:26 - 11:33
    Only forms come and go.
  • 11:33 - 11:36
So, rather than reading something about Jesus,
  • 11:36 - 11:38
    or about the Prophet Mohammed,
  • 11:38 - 11:46
or about Guru Nanak, or Lord Shiva,
    Lord Ram, Lord Krishna,
  • 11:46 - 11:54
Anandamayi Ma, or Mahavira or like this,
  • 11:54 - 12:00
    let's be in this place,
  • 12:00 - 12:06
    in which even the perceiving
of them arises, in this space.
  • 12:06 - 12:12
    There is no story here.
    There is no religion here.
  • 12:12 - 12:14
    There is no philosphy here.
  • 12:14 - 12:17
    There are no persons here.
  • 12:17 - 12:21
    There is no time here.
  • 12:21 - 12:24
There is neither day, nor night here.
  • 12:24 - 12:28
There is neither you, nor me here.
  • 12:28 - 12:31
There is neither disciple, nor master here.
  • 12:31 - 12:38
There is neither heaven, nor hell here.
  • 12:38 - 12:42
And yet it is not a sterile space.
  • 12:42 - 12:47
It is not dead, it is not inert.
  • 12:47 - 12:50
    [silence]
  • 12:57 - 13:03
    Imagination is not required.
  • 13:03 - 13:05
    No vehicles are required,
  • 13:05 - 13:09
because there is no distance to cover.
  • 13:12 - 13:17
    It's neither hot, nor cold.
  • 13:17 - 13:22
    It's neither in, nor out.
  • 13:22 - 13:28
    It's neither above, nor below.
  • 13:28 - 13:32
It's not in the four directions.
  • 13:32 - 13:35
    [silence]
  • 13:44 - 13:49
Your own Heart is its temple, you can say.
  • 13:55 - 13:59
    Who are you here?
  • 14:01 - 14:05
    Only here you cannot argue.
  • 14:05 - 14:09
    There are no opinions here.
  • 14:15 - 14:19
There is nothing to work out.
  • 14:19 - 14:23
    There is nothing to heal.
  • 14:31 - 14:36
Either this is the most absurd idea,
  • 14:36 - 14:39
    or it's the most natural.
  • 14:42 - 14:49
Either this is the most strange idea,
  • 14:49 - 14:53
or it is the most natural.
  • 14:53 - 14:57
For nothing needs to be done.
  • 15:02 - 15:06
    Even to discover this,
  • 15:09 - 15:16
who or what makes this discovery even?
  • 15:16 - 15:21
And can the discoverer live there?
  • 15:21 - 15:25
    As what?
  • 15:25 - 15:28
    [long silence]
  • 15:53 - 15:59
    It remains unaffected
by the play of the body-mind.
  • 16:08 - 16:14
    No one possesses it.
  • 16:14 - 16:17
No one can keep it a secret.
  • 16:17 - 16:21
It cannot be kept. It cannot be lost.
  • 16:21 - 16:26
It cannot be remembered or forgotten.
  • 16:26 - 16:33
All these are notions in the mind.
  • 16:33 - 16:42
    Mind itself is a power
    that arises inside the space,
  • 16:42 - 16:49
exists inside the space of the Self,
  • 16:49 - 16:52
dissolves inside the space of the Self,
  • 16:52 - 16:59
and nothing happens to the Self.
  • 16:59 - 17:03
Do you need to imagine this?
  • 17:07 - 17:12
Can you tell a story about this?
  • 17:20 - 17:25
    Is there anything such as
  • 17:25 - 17:31
AD or DC or BC, or anything like this?
  • 17:31 - 17:37
Is there a period like before Christ
    or after Christ?
  • 17:41 - 17:45
    Is there history there?
  • 17:45 - 17:52
And where is there? How far is there?
  • 17:52 - 17:57
Is it outside of our experience?
Is it outside of our being?
  • 17:57 - 17:59
    Who are we?
  • 17:59 - 18:03
    Are we apart from this?
  • 18:06 - 18:11
So, I've given you some clues.
  • 18:11 - 18:13
It's not anything you can think of.
  • 18:13 - 18:16
You cannot reach it by imagination.
  • 18:16 - 18:23
You cannot find it by being super-good.
  • 18:23 - 18:28
You cannot lose it by being super-bad.
  • 18:28 - 18:35
You cannot keep it by any practice.
  • 18:35 - 18:39
    You cannot be you there.
  • 18:39 - 18:45
Not the you that is of this world.
  • 18:52 - 18:57
    When shall we be there?
  • 18:57 - 19:02
When is the best time? When is a good time?
  • 19:02 - 19:05
    [silence]
  • 19:15 - 19:18
    And is it 'there'?
  • 19:23 - 19:27
Or is it 'here', and never there?
  • 19:27 - 19:32
    Does it have these boundaries?
  • 19:32 - 19:35
    [silence]
  • 19:43 - 19:46
If you want to meet Christ,
  • 19:46 - 19:50
    the Christ of history,
  • 19:50 - 19:54
    the Buddha of history,
  • 19:54 - 19:57
then you must either use your imagination,
  • 19:57 - 20:01
they may appear in some vision,
  • 20:01 - 20:06
    or through imagination.
  • 20:06 - 20:12
But if you want to meet them as they truly are,
  • 20:12 - 20:15
    this you can do now.
  • 20:15 - 20:18
    [long silence]
  • 20:52 - 20:56
    I could'nt find ...
  • 20:56 - 21:03
I could not find a way of talking about Jesus.
  • 21:03 - 21:09
I looked through the most easily readable Bible
    I could find,
  • 21:09 - 21:14
but I couldn't find the inspiration
    to talk about Jesus.
  • 21:14 - 21:18
    I couldn't find a story
    that would be fitting tonight,
  • 21:18 - 21:25
    of all the many stories;
some of them I've told you.
  • 21:25 - 21:29
    And I cannot prepare.
  • 21:29 - 21:33
So, on the way down here we were trying to sketch,
  • 21:33 - 21:35
even this I didn't know anything about
  • 21:35 - 21:38
what anything was going to be today,
  • 21:38 - 21:43
    except there seemed
there's going to be something here,
  • 21:43 - 21:46
what the programme was going to be,
  • 21:46 - 21:50
that maybe we'll have a few carols
and then I'll talk about Jesus.
  • 21:50 - 21:53
    And I thought, Oh Jesus. I can't.
    [laughter]
  • 21:53 - 21:59
It's not coming like that today.
  • 21:59 - 22:05
To talk about Jesus is to talk about Jesus.
  • 22:12 - 22:16
    But who wants to meet?
  • 22:16 - 22:22
Who wants to know? Who wants to be?
  • 22:22 - 22:24
    Who will take that risk?
  • 22:24 - 22:29
Who has that love? Who has that surrender?
  • 22:29 - 22:33
Who has that burning, that urge?
  • 22:38 - 22:48
Who wants to discover that place
    where Jesus comes from,
  • 22:48 - 22:54
where the saints and all beings come from?
  • 22:59 - 23:04
    Can imagination take you there?
  • 23:11 - 23:15
Is it far, far away? Beyond the skies?
  • 23:15 - 23:19
Far, far into some distant galaxy?
  • 23:25 - 23:30
Either it's far, far, far, far, far away,
  • 23:30 - 23:34
    or it's no distance.
  • 23:34 - 23:37
    You choose.
  • 23:42 - 23:45
    If we believe in personhood
  • 23:45 - 23:50
    then you'll believe very much
    in the sense of separation,
  • 23:50 - 23:55
and you will believe in time and effort,
  • 23:55 - 24:01
and these have their place also.
  • 24:01 - 24:06
As long as we conceive of ourselves as a person,
  • 24:06 - 24:12
there will be things to be done and undone,
  • 24:12 - 24:15
something to reach, something to leave,
  • 24:15 - 24:21
something to fix, something to change,
  • 24:21 - 24:25
    something to become.
  • 24:25 - 24:32
It's not easy to shake these off,
  • 24:32 - 24:35
because these are seeds that sprout very easily
  • 24:35 - 24:41
    in the human consciousness.
  • 24:41 - 24:45
    Where is this place
  • 24:45 - 24:48
    that Jesus returned to,
  • 24:48 - 24:51
    the Buddha returned to?
  • 24:56 - 25:02
    Is it a physical place?
  • 25:02 - 25:07
    If it's a physical place,
there will be a physical distance.
  • 25:07 - 25:09
    If it's a non-physical place,
  • 25:09 - 25:13
what kind of distance will there be?
  • 25:17 - 25:19
    If it's a conceptual place,
  • 25:19 - 25:23
    there'll be some conceptual distance.
  • 25:26 - 25:31
But if it's beyond the mind, if it's beyond time
  • 25:31 - 25:36
and change and distance and form,
  • 25:36 - 25:39
    where is it then?
  • 25:39 - 25:42
Is there anything in you like that?
  • 25:42 - 25:45
Is there any place in you which is beyond time
  • 25:45 - 25:50
and change and distance and form?
  • 25:56 - 26:01
Are we now in the domain of imagination?
  • 26:01 - 26:05
    Or are you still here?
  • 26:05 - 26:08
    [silence]
  • 26:19 - 26:25
I don't want to talk to you about Jesus.
  • 26:25 - 26:29
I don't want to talk to you about God.
  • 26:29 - 26:33
I don't want to talk about Truth.
  • 26:33 - 26:36
I don't want to talk about Love.
  • 26:36 - 26:40
    It's been enough of that.
  • 26:40 - 26:46
It's time to go beyond talk.
  • 26:46 - 26:49
    [long silence]
  • 27:23 - 27:28
Do you have to wait until you are good enough?
  • 27:36 - 27:41
Is it possible to escape the domain
    of good and bad,
  • 27:41 - 27:44
    of you and me?
  • 27:47 - 27:51
    Does such a place exist?
  • 27:59 - 28:02
All of us suffer from our own mind,
  • 28:02 - 28:06
our own projections, our own identities.
  • 28:06 - 28:12
It is this that gives us the sense of separation,
    of distance.
  • 28:12 - 28:15
    [silence]
  • 28:33 - 28:39
    So tonight,
I don't want to talk to you about anything.
  • 28:39 - 28:42
    [silence]
  • 28:55 - 28:58
If we can find a way where there is no distance
  • 28:58 - 29:02
    to allow 'you' and 'me',
  • 29:02 - 29:07
then what is there to talk about?
  • 29:13 - 29:18
What keeps you 'you', and me 'me'?
  • 29:22 - 29:26
    Who made this law?
  • 29:34 - 29:38
    Who said it is true?
  • 29:38 - 29:41
    [long silence]
  • 30:09 - 30:13
    OK. Om Namah Shivaya Om.
  • 30:42 - 30:46
[voices in sangha] Thank you, Mooji.

Christ Consciousness
Description:

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Monte Sahaja
25th December 2014

I can't tell you about Jesus. But I feel I could introduce you to Jesus inside your own Heart.

So I feel the way in which we must speak about Lord Krishna or Ramana or Papaji or Lord Buddha or Lord Christ is only by way of direct experience, not just talking about.

Is there any place in you which is beyond time and change and distance and form?

I don't want to talk to you about Jesus, I don't want to talk to you about God. I don't want to talk about Truth. I don't want to talk about Love. It's been enough of that. It's time to go beyond talk.

So tonight I don't want to talk to you about anything. If we can find a way where there is no distance to allow 'you' and 'me' then what is there to talk about then? What keeps you 'you' and me 'me'? Who made this law? Who said it is true?
