  • 0:00 - 0:02
    hey it's mike chen
  • 0:02 - 0:04
you know there has always been legends or rumors about those
  • 0:07 - 0:09
who are supposedly no longer of this world but are somehow secretly still roaming a monster living
  • 0:09 - 0:11
for example some people continue to believe
  • 0:12 - 0:14
that Elvis Presley who died back in the late 1970s is still very much alive today
  • 0:17 - 0:18
some believe that Bruce Lee is still alive and kicking
  • 0:18 - 0:20
and there are also speculations that iconic rapper Tupac who was killed in a drive-by shooting
  • 0:23 - 0:26
back during the 90s never really died from his wounds
  • 0:26 - 0:28
another theory dates back to the second world war though many decades have already passed
  • 0:30 - 0:31
as some people still insist that the leader of the Nazi Party Adolf Hitler did not actually perish
  • 0:36 - 0:37
during the final days of the war in 1945 and that his suicide was in fact faked
  • 0:39 - 0:41
so he could live out the remainder of his days under the radar without getting prosecuted for his war crimes
  • 0:42 - 0:45
so out of all these supposedly deceased people who are rumored to be alive today
  • 0:47 - 0:49
one particular individual may have been rumored to be living on earth
  • 0:50 - 0:53
for much longer than everybody else this mythical man is named Ashwathama
  • 0:57 - 0:59
and according to an ancient tale he is a man who was cursed to live in a mortal life
  • 1:01 - 1:04
filled with nothing but endless suffering and pain
  • 1:04 - 1:06
though son dismissed the story as nothing more than a work of fiction
  • 1:08 - 1:09
there are those who believe that this immortal is very much real
  • 1:09 - 1:12
and over the many years that have passed there have been several instances
  • 1:13 - 1:15
in which people claim to have seen him in the flesh
  • 1:16 - 1:19
so who is this immortal man
  • 1:19 - 1:21
well Ashwatthama is not only one of the key characters in a Sanskrit epic Mahabharata
  • 1:22 - 1:25
he is also viewed as the ancient Indian narratives antihero
  • 1:25 - 1:27
he was the son of a powerful guru named Drona and a grandson of the Brahmin sage Bharadwaja
  • 1:32 - 1:34
he is the avatar of the eighth Rudras or followers of the god Rudras Shiva
  • 1:36 - 1:38
and one of the seven chiranjivis or the immortal ones in Hinduism
  • 1:40 - 1:42
he ranks third among those who managed to kill the most number of warriors during the kurukshetra war
  • 1:45 - 1:48
and he is also the lone survivor said to be still living after fighting in that war
  • 1:49 - 1:51
the story goes following his father's demise in the kurukshetra war
  • 1:52 - 1:55
ashwatthama out of grief and extreme anger decided to walk the path of terror and bloodshed
  • 1:57 - 1:59
he entered the camp of his enemies the pandavas and slaughtered him
  • 2:01 - 2:03
he is also responsible for releasing one of the world's most deadly weapons
  • 2:03 - 2:06
unto the womb of uttara killing her unborn child
  • 2:08 - 2:09
who is supposed to be destined to rule over the world
  • 2:09 - 2:11
because of this the Hindu deity Krishna was rage
  • 2:15 - 2:17
at the Ashwathama heinous crimes of murdering innocent children
  • 2:17 - 2:18
as punishments for the horrible things he did, Krishna cursed him
  • 2:20 - 2:22
so that no matter what he did he would not be able to die
  • 2:22 - 2:24
he was doomed to experienced the most wretched life any person could ever live on earth
  • 2:26 - 2:28
he would endlessly roam as a despicable being who would never receive love or affection until the end of time
  • 2:32 - 2:34
now you might think okay so what's the big deal if you get to live forever
  • 2:35 - 2:37
well his leg wasn't so good because the power ahwatthama forehead
  • 2:39 - 2:41
which protected him from diseases was also removed by Krishna
  • 2:41 - 2:44
he was given the terrible affliction of leprosy to suffer from for 3,000 years
  • 2:48 - 2:49
and through this Krishna made ashwatthama immortality
  • 2:49 - 2:52
the very bad of his existence such that he would always seek his death but he could never die
  • 2:54 - 2:56
so for thousands of years ashwatthama was doomed to roam the outskirts of society
  • 3:00 - 3:02
all along and to many followers of the Hindu faith it is believed that
  • 3:04 - 3:07
until now the once powerful asvatthama still wanders the earth
  • 3:07 - 3:08
and search for death in the end to his immortal curse
  • 3:10 - 3:12
of course this sounds is very not real very fantasyesque
  • 3:14 - 3:17
but supposedly there is proof that Ashwathama is still alive
  • 3:17 - 3:19
one of the stories circulating online about the purported sightings of Ashwathama
  • 3:21 - 3:23
involves a doctor in madhya pradesh of central india
  • 3:24 - 3:26
who claimed to have encountered up patients with aseptic forehead
  • 3:26 - 3:28
after several potions were applied to his forehead
  • 3:29 - 3:31
the wound remained fresh and continued to bleed
  • 3:31 - 3:33
amazed at his seemingly ageless and cureless injury
  • 3:33 - 3:35
the doctor told to his patient whether he was secretly the missing Ashwathama
  • 3:37 - 3:38
however before he could reapply more medicine to his room
  • 3:40 - 3:42
the patient that suddenly disappeared into thin air and was gone without a trace
  • 3:43 - 3:45
and spiritual gurus like the popular pilots Baba have purportedly claimed
  • 3:49 - 3:51
to have encountered Ashwathama where he was studying with the local tribes at the Himalayan foothills
  • 3:52 - 3:54
the immortal is also believed to have been sending flower offerings to shivling
  • 3:56 - 3:58
in abstract representation of the Hindu deity Shiva
  • 3:58 - 4:00
locals in the area also supposedly have seen a very tall man with a very distinct dent on his forehead
  • 4:04 - 4:05
visit someone at the foothills every single year
  • 4:07 - 4:09
during this time they said he eats all the food he can and he drinks no less than a 100 liters of water
  • 4:11 - 4:13
once his thirst and hunger is satisfied the villagers allegedly claimed that he returns to the forests
  • 4:16 - 4:18
and disappeared completely until his scheduled visits the following year
  • 4:20 - 4:22
and in recent years news surfaced online that a 5000 year old man
  • 4:26 - 4:28
is believed to be living as temples of wood our Pradesh in India
  • 4:28 - 4:30
and for every temple that he visited this man were performed puja
  • 4:32 - 4:34
were an act of revenues to the gods at the crack of dawn and made offerings
  • 4:36 - 4:38
some of the locals believe that this immortal man is the ashwatthama mentioned in the Mahabharata
  • 4:41 - 4:43
moreover they say that settings of asvatthama were rare since he still possessed godlike powers
  • 4:45 - 4:47
which allowed him to choose whether he wanted to be seen by others
  • 4:49 - 4:50
or whether he preferred to remain invisible
  • 4:52 - 4:54
now whether these stories are true whether this 5000 year old man is still alive or not
  • 4:54 - 4:56
I think we can learn a lot from this right
  • 4:57 - 4:58
so here's a person who according to legend had unquestionable power and invincibility in warfare
  • 5:02 - 5:03
but his lack of responsibility and self-interest proved to be his downfall
  • 5:05 - 5:07
because that Spiderman was told great powers comes with great responsibilities right
  • 5:08 - 5:10
but this guy chose to abuse his powers and
  • 5:10 - 5:12
so in the end his greed and vengefulness did really not give him peace
  • 5:14 - 5:17
and did not even bring him justice and speaking of his punishment
  • 5:18 - 5:21
I feel like there's really nothing worse on earth than just pure long-term solitude and loneliness
  • 5:25 - 5:27
there was an experiment lately where a woman was put in solitary confinement
  • 5:28 - 5:30
and she had nothing around her
  • 5:30 - 5:32
no interactions and she was going crazy after like a day
  • 5:34 - 5:35
and now granted if the story was real all this guy could still go visit places
  • 5:38 - 5:40
so it's not as bad as solitary confinement but it's still that good right
  • 5:40 - 5:41
I mean if I was him I'd be Netflix films like crazy
  • 5:43 - 5:44
alright guys thank y'all so much for watching this video. I'll see you later
