Alexander Rybak Interview about Entertainer on NRK radio 08.06.2016

  • 0:01 - 0:05
Host: Ten years ago he won Kjempesjansen on NRK.
  • 0:05 - 0:09
Later he has been awarded with the
    "Spellemann Award", the Hedda award,
  • 0:09 - 0:16
and not least victory in Eurovision Song
Contest with the highest score ever.
  • 0:16 - 0:24
Now he celebrates ten years as an artist, and he does that with a tremendous show at Bølgen Culture House in Larvik.
  • 0:24 - 0:28
Then it's only appropiate to congratulate
for the ten years, Alexander Rybak.
  • 0:29 - 0:34
A: Thank you so much, I am very happy
about being able to make a proper celebration.
  • 0:34 - 0:38
Host: When you look 10 years back
    in time, to Kjempesjansen,
  • 0:38 - 0:44
when you stood there, did you dare
to hope for all what you've experienced?
  • 0:44 - 0:50
    A: I didn't think much about the
extent of it and the amount of CDs sold.
  • 0:51 - 0:56
What I hoped for was to make as many
people happy as possible with my music.
  • 0:56 - 1:03
I enjoy recording songs, but being on stage and performing, that's what I love. That's what I like the most.
  • 1:03 - 1:08
    Host: You've done that bigtime.
A: Yes, lots of times. I'm very privileged.
  • 1:08 - 1:13
R: Then there'll be a grand, enormous celebration in Larvik this summer
    A: Yes, at Bølgen .
  • 1:13 - 1:20
A: I'm extra privileged this year having Sofie and Heidi join me.
  • 1:20 - 1:26
Who have been picked from the first shelf.
No, how do we say it? Hand picked.
  • 1:26 - 1:33
Fantastic women that have joined you, Heidi Ruud Ellingsen and Sofie Bjerketvedt, welcome to you, too.
  • 1:33 - 1:39
The two of you have performed in various musicals
at different places. But now it will be fairytale.
  • 1:39 - 1:43
S&H: Now it will be fairytale, we answer in sync.
  • 1:43 - 1:49
S: We're Siamese twins, one blonde and one dark haired.
H: He just had to involve both of us.
  • 1:49 - 1:51
Host: But what's it like being part of this?
  • 1:51 - 1:58
S: It's a real treat and very nice. We have
only just begun, so it's very exciting,
  • 1:58 - 2:06
We have lots of plans and we hope to do just
as well as we do now, both on stage and off.
  • 2:06 - 2:10
A: The sky is the limit here, we have
talked about everything we can do.
  • 2:10 - 2:18
I have seen what Sofie and Heidi do
and can do. It will be very versatile.
  • 2:18 - 2:23
H: It's a bit fun... My first theatre job and also your first theatre job we did together.
    A: Was that your first?
  • 2:23 - 2:26
H: It was my first one. "Fiddler on the Roof" ten years ago.
  • 2:26 - 2:30
H: Alexander had just won Kjempesjansen.
    A: Yes, right after Kjempesjansen
  • 2:30 - 2:38
H: I actually played a bit of violin together with you. Do you remember that?
A: Yes, that's why I really hoped Heidi would join me in.
  • 2:38 - 2:44
H: It's fun being able to work together again.
    A: I think so, too.
  • 2:44 - 2:48
We'll be a nice trio, and as
    mentioned before it's the versatility,
  • 2:48 - 2:52
    which is the most important
thing to me when I perform.
  • 2:52 - 3:01
These two girls here enjoy making people both
cry and laugh, and being impressive.
  • 3:01 - 3:04
Host: But then there is... what kind of show is this?
  • 3:04 - 3:10
It's probably best to ask the director who will
keep all three of them on a tight leash. What is this?
  • 3:10 - 3:16
J: It is a musical show. The music
is the main focus all the way.
  • 3:16 - 3:26
And that involves Alexander's pop music, classical music,
folk music and entertainer material mostly.
  • 3:26 - 3:32
And we have a big band, so there
    will be some wind instruments.
  • 3:32 - 3:38
There will be girls singing loud and
long and do the splits and so on.
  • 3:38 - 3:47
So yes, this is a musical entertainer show,
    but with some humorous elements.
  • 3:47 - 3:54
A: Because when I watch those tapes from
Kjempesjansen with a big band, I get to feel a bit of nostalgia.
  • 3:54 - 3:59
So then I had to have such a band this summer.
  • 3:59 - 4:09
And the three of us on stage, we love that sound with wind instruments, and it will be a bit old fashioned and a bit modern.
  • 4:09 - 4:16
A: It will be a mix. We will make a good mix.
Host: Big band, choir, dancers. The splits, does it still work?
  • 4:16 - 4:22
    H: We have to practise.
J: It still works. I have seen Sofie taking some "break" splits now and then.
  • 4:22 - 4:27
H: Sofie takes care of that.
S: I will bend between two chairs every night until the premiere.
  • 4:27 - 4:33
Host: And the premiere is at Bølgen Culture House in Larvik on July 6.
  • 4:33 - 4:39
You heard Alexander Rybak, Heidi Ruud Ellingsen,
Sofie Bjerketvedt and director Johan Osuldsen.
  • 4:39 - 4:46
There will be fairytale in Bølgen Culture House
from 6th of July, and also here in NRK P1 now.
