This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. Challenging behavior exhibited by children and adolescents is a common concern and frustration for parents, teachers, and other helpers. In this talk, Dr. Stuart Ablon of Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School will challenge the conventional wisdom about what causes challenging behavior and as a result what we should do to help. Drawing from research in the neurosciences, Dr. Ablon will suggest a revolutionary way of thinking about challenging behavior and a corresponding process by which kids of all kinds can be taught skills of flexibility, frustration tolerance and problem solving.
Dr. Stuart Ablon is a child psychologist who specializes in working with challenging children and their families, teachers and helpers.
He serves as the Director of Think:Kids at Massachusetts General Hospital Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School.About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
