    and it's those times where
I find myself turning to God
  • 26:40 - 26:42
    and just starting to pray,
  • 26:42 - 26:45
and then next thing I know it's morning.
  • 26:45 - 26:47
    - What an amazing thought
    for me is not only
  • 26:47 - 26:51
    that my sin's been forgiven
    but God forgets 'em.
  • 26:51 - 26:53
And that's an amazing thought for me,
  • 26:53 - 26:55
'cause obviously coming from an addiction,
  • 26:55 - 26:57
    the multiple times I said,
    "I'll never do it again,"
  • 26:57 - 26:59
did it again, and to say,
  • 26:59 - 27:01
well God couldn't forgive all of that,
  • 27:01 - 27:03
and to realize that He has.
  • 27:03 - 27:05
In fact, if I come back to Him and say,
  • 27:05 - 27:07
    "Oh, that's right, I've
    asked for forgiveness,
  • 27:07 - 27:08
"but would You forgive me again?"
  • 27:08 - 27:10
You know you sometimes repeat that?
  • 27:10 - 27:11
God goes like, "What's he talkin' about?"
  • 27:11 - 27:14
God's forgiven it and forgotten it.
  • 27:14 - 27:16
    That gives me encouragement
I need to move on as well.
  • 27:16 - 27:18
    - You know, I find that so interesting
  • 27:18 - 27:21
    because if you wanna play
that out, what you just said,
  • 27:21 - 27:25
    when someone's given their testimony,
  • 27:25 - 27:27
    and of course the power
    of it, of our testimony
  • 27:27 - 27:31
is not where we've been, it's
what Jesus did in that moment
  • 27:31 - 27:33
    and where we're going now.
  • 27:33 - 27:35
But every time we give a testimony,
  • 27:35 - 27:37
we start talking about our past.
  • 27:37 - 27:38
    Can you imagine?
  • 27:38 - 27:41
    God's listening in going,
    "What are they talking about?"
  • 27:41 - 27:43
    - I think it's an
    opportunity for growth, too,
  • 27:43 - 27:45
    you know, really just relating
    to what you were saying.
  • 27:45 - 27:48
If we dwell on that past,
  • 27:48 - 27:51
    it doesn't give us that
    opportunity to move forward.
  • 27:51 - 27:54
    So it's an opportunity
for us to grow in Christ,
  • 27:54 - 27:56
for us to grown in our
    relationship with Him,
  • 27:56 - 27:59
and just be the better us
that He has created us to be.
  • 27:59 - 28:00
    - Yeah.
  • 28:00 - 28:03
We hold our past against us and sometimes
  • 28:03 - 28:04
    that holds us back.
  • 28:04 - 28:08
We think about it so much
    that it holds us back
  • 28:08 - 28:12
and we use that as a crutch
    for not moving forward.
  • 28:12 - 28:17
And so, if God can wipe that
    away, that is our release.
  • 28:19 - 28:21
And we have to pray for forgiveness
  • 28:21 - 28:26
    because if He can forgive,
then why dwell on the past?
  • 28:26 - 28:30
    Our future is guaranteed,
    if we're working with God.
  • 28:30 - 28:34
    - Here's the second piece
of the news you can use.
  • 28:34 - 28:36
    Are you ready for this?
  • 28:36 - 28:38
I don't need to be afraid.
  • 28:38 - 28:41
Because of Easter, my future is secure.
  • 28:42 - 28:43
    My future is secure.
  • 28:45 - 28:47
I love what John says in 1 John.
  • 28:47 - 28:51
"This is the promise of what
    Jesus himself made to us."
  • 28:51 - 28:52
    You ready for it?
  • 28:52 - 28:54
    Here's the promise, "Eternal life."
  • 28:56 - 28:58
    News that we can use.
  • 28:58 - 28:59
    Amen?
  • 28:59 - 29:02
My friends, the greatest miracle of God
  • 29:02 - 29:06
    is not a physical healing,
    it's the spiritual one.
  • 29:07 - 29:11
It's when we get to spend
    eternity with Jesus.
  • 29:12 - 29:14
That's the greatest of all miracles.
  • 29:14 - 29:16
    Isn't that great news?
  • 29:16 - 29:17
    It's great news.
  • 29:17 - 29:21
    Because of Jesus, not only
    has my burden been lifted,
  • 29:21 - 29:23
but my bed has been made.
  • 29:23 - 29:24
    I love it.
  • 29:24 - 29:26
    It's like a Motel 6 moment,
  • 29:26 - 29:28
"And we'll leave the light on for you."
  • 29:28 - 29:29
(laughs) You know what I mean?
  • 29:29 - 29:30
    I love that stuff.
  • 29:30 - 29:32
Look what Jesus said in John 14.
  • 29:32 - 29:34
"If I go and prepare a place for you,
  • 29:34 - 29:38
"I will come back and take
you there to be with Me."
  • 29:38 - 29:39
    Don't you love it?
  • 29:39 - 29:42
"For where I am, you will be also."
  • 29:44 - 29:47
    Paul wrote in 1 Thessalonians,
    "He died for us."
  • 29:47 - 29:48
    And why?
  • 29:48 - 29:53
"In order that we might live
    together with Him forever."
  • 29:53 - 29:56
My future, your future, it's secure.
  • 29:57 - 29:58
    Amen?
  • 29:58 - 29:59
    - [Group] Amen.
  • 29:59 - 30:02
    - In the book of Isaiah, let
me tell you what it reads.
  • 30:02 - 30:04
    "Why would we ever fear?"
  • 30:05 - 30:09
    The prophet Isaiah
    actually asks the question.
  • 30:09 - 30:10
    It's a great question.
  • 30:10 - 30:12
    Why would we fear?
  • 30:12 - 30:15
He goes on to say, "For God is with us."
  • 30:16 - 30:17
    God is in us.
  • 30:19 - 30:23
Look what Isaiah goes on to say.
  • 30:23 - 30:25
    "I am your God.
  • 30:25 - 30:27
    "I will strengthen you.
  • 30:27 - 30:28
    "I will help you.
  • 30:28 - 30:32
    "I will uphold you with
    my righteous hand."
  • 30:34 - 30:36
    What a promise of God.
  • 30:36 - 30:39
In Psalm 23, we read those amazing words,
  • 30:39 - 30:43
    "The Lord is my shepherd;
I have all that I need.
  • 30:44 - 30:47
"I have all that I need,"
    isn't that great news?
  • 30:47 - 30:50
    "Even when I walk through
    the darkest of valley,"
  • 30:50 - 30:53
and we're in a valley right now.
  • 30:53 - 30:56
We're in a valley right now.
  • 30:56 - 30:57
Let me help you with it.
  • 30:57 - 31:00
How about the valley of loss?
  • 31:02 - 31:03
    A loss of job.
  • 31:04 - 31:05
Let's just talk about the loss
  • 31:05 - 31:09
of our daily freedoms right now.
  • 31:09 - 31:10
And of course, then there's the fear
  • 31:10 - 31:13
of a physical loss of life, right?
  • 31:14 - 31:19
But how about the valley of
    questions and uncertainties?
  • 31:19 - 31:20
    The unknown.
  • 31:21 - 31:25
How about the valley of isolation
    right now and loneliness?
  • 31:25 - 31:30
    And yet David writes,
    "We will not be afraid,
  • 31:30 - 31:34
"for our God is right here,
    right now, beside us."
  • 31:35 - 31:37
    Isn't that great news?
  • 31:37 - 31:40
I mean that is incredible news.
  • 31:40 - 31:42
Don't you just love David's imagery here?
  • 31:42 - 31:44
    I love it.
  • 31:44 - 31:46
    We never have to worry
    when we follow Jesus
  • 31:46 - 31:50
because our Good Shepherd will protect us,
  • 31:50 - 31:51
    He will provide for us.
  • 31:51 - 31:53
This is the power of Easter, right?
  • 31:53 - 31:55
    But now watch this.
  • 31:55 - 31:59
For even though we go through
    these darkest of times,
  • 31:59 - 32:04
and that our God is right
    here, right now beside us,
  • 32:04 - 32:05
but not just in the here and now.
  • 32:05 - 32:09
    Here's what David says,
    "Beyond this valley,
  • 32:09 - 32:12
"is guaranteed a house of rest."
  • 32:14 - 32:17
That's what he says in Psalm 23.
  • 32:17 - 32:21
"And I will dwell in the
    house of the Lord forever."
  • 32:23 - 32:25
    That's the great.
  • 32:25 - 32:26
    That's the grand.
  • 32:26 - 32:29
That's the awesome news of Easter.
  • 32:30 - 32:33
    Look what Titus three says.
  • 32:33 - 32:37
    "He has declared us not
    guilty," our past is forgiven.
  • 32:37 - 32:41
But then he goes on to write, "But now,
  • 32:41 - 32:45
"we can know that we will
    inherit eternal life."
  • 32:47 - 32:52
    These two amazing truths,
    that our past is forgiven
  • 32:52 - 32:53
and that our future is secure,
  • 32:53 - 32:58
    are the most important
    truths in all our lives.
  • 32:58 - 33:00
    When you think about that,
    that your future's secure,
  • 33:00 - 33:02
what does that say to you?
  • 33:02 - 33:04
    - God has me in every situation.
  • 33:04 - 33:07
    No matter what, I'm secure.
  • 33:07 - 33:09
He holds me in his hands
    every day of my life.
  • 33:09 - 33:12
    - [Keith] Every situation, I love that.
  • 33:12 - 33:14
    - I hear the language of
    people as they get older,
  • 33:14 - 33:17
    not that I'm in that
    generation, but it is,
  • 33:17 - 33:19
    'cause everybody around me
    is talking about security,
  • 33:19 - 33:22
only they talk about Social Security.
  • 33:22 - 33:25
    They talk about retirement security,
  • 33:25 - 33:27
    which is obviously tied
    to financial security,
  • 33:27 - 33:28
    health security.
  • 33:28 - 33:31
    They talk about that and
it's all that kind of stuff.
  • 33:31 - 33:33
    You go, "No, no."
  • 33:33 - 33:36
    That's not the security,
    'cause all that will go.
  • 33:36 - 33:40
    It's heavenly security,
    that's what it's all about.
  • 33:40 - 33:41
And that's why I don't have to be afraid
  • 33:41 - 33:43
of any of that other stuff.
  • 33:43 - 33:44
    - Yeah, that's definitely security.
  • 33:44 - 33:47
If our lives are in his hands,
  • 33:47 - 33:49
that's more security than anything else
  • 33:49 - 33:52
because the world that we live in,
  • 33:52 - 33:55
we're only in it for a moment.
  • 33:55 - 33:58
And, so as sometimes people get older,
  • 33:58 - 34:03
    they start reflecting on how
much time that they have left
  • 34:03 - 34:05
    and they're like, "Okay,
    I need to make more
  • 34:05 - 34:08
"of the little time that I have left."
  • 34:08 - 34:10
We should've done that from the beginning,
  • 34:10 - 34:14
    and God can help us
    capitalize on that time
  • 34:14 - 34:17
as long as we follow his instructions, so.
  • 34:17 - 34:21
    - Here's the third piece
of news that we can use.
  • 34:21 - 34:22
    You ready for this?
  • 34:22 - 34:23
    Write it down.
  • 34:23 - 34:27
    We will not be afraid,
for we can live right now,
  • 34:27 - 34:29
    today, life to the full.
  • 34:31 - 34:33
    Past forgiven,
  • 34:33 - 34:37
    future secured, but because
    of those two truths,
  • 34:38 - 34:41
we can now live a life to the full.
  • 34:42 - 34:44
    Don't you love those words?
  • 34:44 - 34:45
    Say them with me.
  • 34:45 - 34:48
    - [Group] Life to the full.
  • 34:48 - 34:50
    - In 1 Peter, look what it says.
  • 34:50 - 34:53
"He carried our sin to the cross
  • 34:53 - 34:56
"so we could be rid of it,"
  • 34:56 - 35:01
    there it is, past forgiven,
"free to live the right way."
  • 35:03 - 35:04
    I love that.
  • 35:04 - 35:07
    Past forgiven, future's secure,
  • 35:07 - 35:10
now let's get on in living.
  • 35:10 - 35:12
    Every day matters.
  • 35:12 - 35:14
My friends, when you know that your past,
  • 35:14 - 35:15
    are you ready for this?
  • 35:15 - 35:17
Is not hanging over your head,
  • 35:17 - 35:19
    when you know that your
    future is locked up
  • 35:19 - 35:21
    and solidified, oh my goodness,
  • 35:21 - 35:23
    it makes the day a
    different day, doesn't it?
  • 35:23 - 35:25
    When you really get that.
  • 35:25 - 35:27
Look what Major Ian Thomas writes.
  • 35:27 - 35:31
"Eternal life is not a particular feeling.
  • 35:31 - 35:35
    "It is not an ultimate
    destination, to which we go.
  • 35:35 - 35:39
    "If you're born again,
    and you have eternal life,
  • 35:39 - 35:43
    "it is the quality of
    life that we can possess,
  • 35:43 - 35:45
    "right now, today."
  • 35:46 - 35:48
    Don't you love those words?
  • 35:48 - 35:51
    It'd be like Warren Buffet,
  • 35:51 - 35:53
let's say he and I were on the phone
  • 35:53 - 35:57
and earlier today and I get
    to share this good news.
  • 35:57 - 36:00
    Warren calls me up and
    says, "Hey, first of all,
  • 36:00 - 36:01
"let everybody in your church know
  • 36:01 - 36:03
"that I called all their banks,
  • 36:03 - 36:04
"I called all of their creditors,
  • 36:04 - 36:08
"and I paid off every debt they have."
  • 36:08 - 36:09
Now I don't know about you,
  • 36:09 - 36:11
we can just stop like right there.
  • 36:11 - 36:13
That'd be like a good day, wouldn't it?
  • 36:13 - 36:15
But then he says, "Oh, by the way,
  • 36:15 - 36:16
"but tell every one of 'em
  • 36:16 - 36:19
"I then deposited a million dollars
  • 36:19 - 36:22
    "into their bank account.
  • 36:22 - 36:24
"They don't have to pay it back."
  • 36:24 - 36:27
    Paid all of their debt,
    they have no debt anymore,
  • 36:27 - 36:31
and they now have a million
    dollars in their bank account.
  • 36:31 - 36:32
    Now you ready for this?
  • 36:32 - 36:37
    I guarantee you that would
    make today a different day.
  • 36:37 - 36:39
    You would just think differently,
  • 36:39 - 36:40
    you would just see differently,
  • 36:40 - 36:42
    you would act differently.
  • 36:42 - 36:44
    How much greater is Easter?
  • 36:46 - 36:48
And you know what I fear?
  • 36:48 - 36:50
I fear that people would rather have
  • 36:50 - 36:52
    that call from Warren Buffet
  • 36:52 - 36:55
than they would from Jesus Christ.
  • 36:56 - 36:57
    I fear that.
  • 36:59 - 37:01
You know, I saw this cartoon.
  • 37:01 - 37:02
Jesus was talking to some children,
  • 37:02 - 37:04
    and so get the picture.
  • 37:04 - 37:08
He's telling them about a time
    He was with his disciples.
  • 37:08 - 37:11
The kids are wide-eyed, they're listening,
  • 37:11 - 37:13
and the caption reads, Jesus speaking,
  • 37:13 - 37:15
"So I was like, 'I'm the Son of God',
  • 37:15 - 37:16
"and they were like, 'No way,'
  • 37:16 - 37:18
    "and I was like, 'Yahweh.'"
    (group laughing)
  • 37:18 - 37:21
    (laughs) I love that.
  • 37:21 - 37:22
    I just love that.
  • 37:22 - 37:25
    I want you to picture
    that this is your life.
  • 37:25 - 37:27
    This is your life.
  • 37:27 - 37:28
Here's what I get concerned about
  • 37:28 - 37:31
that most people don't get Easter.
  • 37:31 - 37:36
This being the Son of God
    and representing his blood.
  • 37:38 - 37:40
And I think what we end up doing is,
  • 37:40 - 37:43
we put a little Jesus in our lives
  • 37:43 - 37:46
    'cause we don't understand Easter.
  • 37:46 - 37:48
And we go to church and
we try to do a few things
  • 37:48 - 37:52
    that look good and yet,
if you look at the glass,
  • 37:52 - 37:55
    and this being our life,
you see the blood of Jesus.
  • 37:55 - 37:57
The only problem is there's a whole bunch
  • 37:57 - 38:01
    in the glass still not
    covered in the blood.
  • 38:02 - 38:04
Now, I want you to catch this.
  • 38:04 - 38:07
    Jesus said, "I came that
    you might have life,"
  • 38:07 - 38:11
    but then He describes the
    life, life to the full.
  • 38:13 - 38:17
    That's what Jesus said
    our lives were to be.
  • 38:17 - 38:19
Nowhere in scripture did He say
  • 38:19 - 38:22
that you take your life and
put a little Jesus in it.
  • 38:22 - 38:24
    Now, I wanna tell you
    why this is a problem
  • 38:24 - 38:26
and why I struggle because so many people
  • 38:26 - 38:27
are full of fear right now,
  • 38:27 - 38:31
and I'm not just talking about
    those who don't know Jesus.
  • 38:31 - 38:34
I'm hearing a lot of doubt and fear
  • 38:34 - 38:39
    and anxiousness from people
who love Jesus, so to speak.
  • 38:40 - 38:42
But I wanna help you what Easter is about.
  • 38:42 - 38:47
    Jesus said, "I come that
    your life would be full."
  • 38:47 - 38:51
But if you put just a
    little Jesus in your life,
  • 38:51 - 38:52
you leave all this other room
  • 38:52 - 38:56
for the devil to get in and put the fear.
  • 38:57 - 39:00
    Now, to personalize this,
  • 39:00 - 39:02
am I experiencing any fear right now?
  • 39:02 - 39:02
    No.
  • 39:04 - 39:05
    No.
  • 39:07 - 39:08
People say, "But what if you die?"
  • 39:08 - 39:11
(laughs) I get to go be with Jesus?
  • 39:11 - 39:14
That's what it's all about, people.
  • 39:14 - 39:18
Jesus didn't come to fix my life here,
  • 39:19 - 39:23
He came to be with me
    here and take me there,
  • 39:23 - 39:24
to be with Him in glory.
  • 39:24 - 39:26
    This isn't my home.
  • 39:27 - 39:30
But Jesus said fill up your life,
  • 39:30 - 39:34
let your life be full of Me
because when it's full of Jesus,
  • 39:34 - 39:36
there's no room for the devil,
  • 39:36 - 39:38
    there's no room for fear,
  • 39:38 - 39:40
"Because perfect love," the Bible says,
  • 39:40 - 39:42
    "casts out all fear."
  • 39:43 - 39:45
    You see how that works?
  • 39:45 - 39:50
But then Paul says this, not
only do you fill your life up,
  • 39:51 - 39:55
    that's why we don't make
    the weekend an option,
  • 39:55 - 39:58
we read books and we read
    the Bible and we pray,
  • 39:58 - 40:00
    and we're in a life
    group and we're communing
  • 40:00 - 40:02
and doing life with other brothers
  • 40:02 - 40:03
    and sisters in the Lord.
  • 40:03 - 40:05
Our lives are full of Jesus,
  • 40:05 - 40:07
so full of Jesus, there's no room
  • 40:07 - 40:09
    for anything of the world.
  • 40:09 - 40:13
There's no place, no space for the devil.
  • 40:14 - 40:16
    But Paul says but then
    our lives are to overflow
  • 40:16 - 40:20
'cause that's what being a witness is.
  • 40:20 - 40:22
When God keeps pouring into your life,
  • 40:22 - 40:25
it then overflows your life into others.
  • 40:27 - 40:29
    Isn't that a beautiful picture?
  • 40:29 - 40:30
    I love that stuff.
  • 40:30 - 40:34
Listen to the words of E. Stanley Jones.
  • 40:34 - 40:37
    "Anything less than
    God will let you down."
  • 40:38 - 40:40
    Those are great words.
  • 40:40 - 40:42
    Anything less than God.
  • 40:43 - 40:46
You know, there's an old hymn that says,
  • 40:46 - 40:49
"My hope is built on nothing less
  • 40:49 - 40:52
    "than Jesus' blood and righteousness.
  • 40:53 - 40:56
"I dare not trust the sweetest frame."
  • 40:57 - 41:00
I dare not trust anything in this world.
  • 41:00 - 41:03
"But I wholly lean on Jesus' name.
  • 41:03 - 41:06
"On Christ the solid rock I stand."
  • 41:06 - 41:08
    All other ground is what?
  • 41:08 - 41:09
    - [Group] Sinking sand.
  • 41:09 - 41:13
    - All other ground is sinking sand.
  • 41:13 - 41:13
    Wow.
  • 41:14 - 41:17
My past forgiven, my future secure,
  • 41:19 - 41:21
and because of those two truths,
  • 41:21 - 41:24
I can now live life to the full.
  • 41:24 - 41:26
    Woo.
  • 41:26 - 41:28
Come on, what's that say to you?
  • 41:28 - 41:28
    - Totally.
  • 41:28 - 41:31
    Last night, it's funny, we
    were just talking last night
  • 41:31 - 41:33
    about where we're currently at
  • 41:35 - 41:39
and just how it just seems
that life is easy right now
  • 41:41 - 41:44
when you recognize that when you are full,
  • 41:44 - 41:47
that these worries that are out there,
  • 41:47 - 41:52
    that they dissipate, and we
have so much more to live for
  • 41:53 - 41:55
    and it's just--
  • 41:55 - 41:57
    - Circumstances don't dictate our joy.
  • 41:57 - 41:59
    - That's exactly right.
  • 41:59 - 42:01
    - I like the--
    - Those are great words.
  • 42:01 - 42:05
Circumstances, talk about read a message.
  • 42:06 - 42:07
    Circumstances.
  • 42:08 - 42:11
They do not, if you will, interpret,
  • 42:11 - 42:14
they do not determine our joy.
  • 42:14 - 42:16
    Christ determines our joy
  • 42:17 - 42:20
because that's who Christ is, is joy.
  • 42:20 - 42:23
So in Christ, we have joy.
  • 42:23 - 42:25
    Which only solidify those
    words, "Greater is He
  • 42:25 - 42:30
    "that is within me than
    anything that's in the world."
  • 42:30 - 42:32
    - You said many times the
    fact that Jesus always said
  • 42:32 - 42:35
come to heaven as a child, and
you think of a little child,
  • 42:35 - 42:38
    I don't know of a three year
    old that today is going,
  • 42:38 - 42:40
"Man, I just blew it yesterday.
  • 42:40 - 42:41
    "I just blew that."
  • 42:41 - 42:44
Or today is going, "Man, what
am I gonna do for college?
  • 42:44 - 42:46
"What am I gonna do for college?
  • 42:46 - 42:47
    "What's gonna happen?"
  • 42:47 - 42:48
    No.
  • 42:48 - 42:50
Because the past, the future, they don't,
  • 42:50 - 42:54
    they're so full of joy
    today and it overflows
  • 42:54 - 42:56
    in everything that they do.
  • 42:56 - 42:58
And you see it and that's
    why Jesus says, "Okay,
  • 42:58 - 43:00
"that's how I want you to live."
  • 43:00 - 43:01
    Just what you said.
  • 43:01 - 43:02
    - Yeah, they're in the moment,
  • 43:02 - 43:04
those kids are in the moment.
    - Exactly.
  • 43:04 - 43:06
    - There's no worry about what I just did
  • 43:06 - 43:09
or what I'm going to do,
it's what's in front of me.
  • 43:09 - 43:11
    - [Man] And they're full in that moment.
  • 43:11 - 43:12
    - Yes.
  • 43:12 - 43:15
    - It just took me back that yesterday,
  • 43:15 - 43:19
with all that, you know, this
    pandemic that's in our world,
  • 43:19 - 43:23
    I just thought of that
moment where I looked at Kay
  • 43:23 - 43:25
    and I said, "Where's Jackson?"
  • 43:25 - 43:29
    She said, "Well, she
    went upstairs to play."
  • 43:29 - 43:31
    Isn't that interesting?
  • 43:32 - 43:35
Which is really to me a picture of prayer.
  • 43:35 - 43:37
She didn't go up to pray,
    she went up to play.
  • 43:37 - 43:38
    Why?
  • 43:38 - 43:39
    God's got it.
  • 43:40 - 43:42
    (laughs) Everything's good.
  • 43:42 - 43:44
So I went up and went into her room
  • 43:44 - 43:46
and she's in her little playhouse
  • 43:46 - 43:48
and she's talking to her little friends
  • 43:48 - 43:50
and creatin' this beautiful little moment,
  • 43:50 - 43:52
    and it was like wow.
  • 43:52 - 43:53
    Why can't I do that?
  • 43:53 - 43:54
    And then Jesus said what?
  • 43:54 - 43:55
    "Come to heaven.
  • 43:55 - 43:57
"You must come like a child."
  • 43:57 - 43:59
    - I see parallels in this situation
  • 43:59 - 44:03
'cause right now, I'm starting to realize
  • 44:03 - 44:05
that I have more, we have less,
  • 44:09 - 44:12
we have less of a lot of
    things at this moment,
  • 44:12 - 44:15
but one thing that I know everyone can say
  • 44:15 - 44:17
is that we have more time.
  • 44:17 - 44:19
If anyone says, "Oh, I don't have time,"
  • 44:19 - 44:22
you know that that is not
true at this moment in time,
  • 44:22 - 44:23
    for anybody.
  • 44:24 - 44:26
So, it's just made me value,
  • 44:28 - 44:30
    value things more.
  • 44:30 - 44:32
It's like getting us back to the basics,
  • 44:32 - 44:34
and so we just do the basics.
  • 44:34 - 44:39
    And in that, we have
    happiness and we realize well,
  • 44:39 - 44:42
    this is actually what we
    were meant to live for
  • 44:42 - 44:45
instead of just the dundrum of work
  • 44:47 - 44:51
    and just structure that
    we've been built in,
  • 44:51 - 44:53
    you know, that's been
    built into us, you know.
  • 44:53 - 44:57
So, I just think that we've taken this
  • 44:57 - 45:02
    and it's helped us realize
    what the world should be.
  • 45:02 - 45:04
    - I think we have more time
  • 45:05 - 45:09
    to be like children,
    because when you're a child,
  • 45:09 - 45:12
you know, what am I gonna do, I'm bored,
  • 45:12 - 45:15
you know, and you just go
    play, like you talked about,
  • 45:15 - 45:18
and we can just go and
    pray and be with God,
  • 45:18 - 45:21
because He's given us that gift of time.
  • 45:21 - 45:22
    - You know, being in healthcare,
  • 45:22 - 45:24
you just think about this faith of a child
  • 45:24 - 45:29
and what if we all had
    the faith of a child?
  • 45:29 - 45:30
    In a moment of sickness?
  • 45:30 - 45:31
    No matter what it was.
  • 45:31 - 45:34
Not just this pandemic that we had,
  • 45:34 - 45:35
but what would the world be like?
  • 45:35 - 45:37
    I always ask myself
    that being in healthcare
  • 45:37 - 45:40
    because my daughter has
    a scratch on her nose
  • 45:40 - 45:43
    and she's like, "God's
    gonna heal it, Mommy.
  • 45:43 - 45:45
    "God's gonna heal it." (laughs)
  • 45:45 - 45:47
And it's a scratch on her nose, you know,
  • 45:47 - 45:50
    but we think about that
    from an adult's perspective
  • 45:50 - 45:51
    and what if?
  • 45:51 - 45:54
    What if we really had
    that faith of a child?
  • 45:54 - 45:57
Where God's gonna heal a scratch?
  • 45:57 - 45:59
    - There's an old legend.
  • 45:59 - 46:02
It's about an ancient village in Spain.
  • 46:02 - 46:05
    The villagers learned
    that the king was coming
  • 46:05 - 46:07
    to pay a visit.
  • 46:07 - 46:09
This is a big deal 'cause in 1,000 years,
  • 46:09 - 46:13
no king had ever come to their village.
  • 46:13 - 46:16
    "We must throw the
    biggest celebration ever,"
  • 46:16 - 46:18
    the chief declared.
  • 46:18 - 46:20
But the village was a poor village,
  • 46:20 - 46:23
and they didn't have very many resources.
  • 46:23 - 46:26
But one villager had an idea.
  • 46:26 - 46:31
    "Since our village is known
    for the finest of wines,
  • 46:31 - 46:35
    "let's have everyone bring
a large cup of their best,
  • 46:35 - 46:38
"their finest to the town square,
  • 46:38 - 46:40
"and we'll pour it into a large vat
  • 46:40 - 46:43
"and offer it to the king when he arrives.
  • 46:43 - 46:45
    "Thus when the king drinks,
  • 46:45 - 46:48
"it will be of our very best."
  • 46:48 - 46:50
The day prior to the king's arrival,
  • 46:50 - 46:52
    hundreds of people lined
    up to make their offering.
  • 46:52 - 46:55
    They climbed a small stairway
  • 46:55 - 46:57
    and poured their gift
    through a small opening
  • 46:57 - 47:01
    at the top that collected
    into the vat below.
  • 47:01 - 47:04
The next day, the king arrived
  • 47:04 - 47:07
    and he was immediately
    escorted to the village square.
  • 47:07 - 47:09
There he was given a silver cup
  • 47:09 - 47:11
and told to draw some wine,
  • 47:11 - 47:16
    which represented the
    village's absolute best.
  • 47:16 - 47:18
He placed the cup under the spigot,
  • 47:18 - 47:21
turned the handle, and drank from the cup.
  • 47:21 - 47:25
But to his surprise it was
    nothing more than water.
  • 47:25 - 47:29
    You see, each villager thought,
  • 47:29 - 47:34
    "I'll withhold my best, and
    I'll substitute it with water.
  • 47:34 - 47:36
"For with so many cups of wine in the vat,
  • 47:36 - 47:38
    "who would know, right?"
  • 47:40 - 47:42
    But here's the problem:
  • 47:42 - 47:45
    Everyone in the village
    had the same thought.
  • 47:45 - 47:49
    And here's the sadness:
    The king was dishonored.
  • 47:52 - 47:53
    My friends,
  • 47:55 - 47:57
    the King is coming back.
  • 47:59 - 48:03
    The King is gonna be
    coming to our village.
  • 48:03 - 48:05
    But you ready for this?
  • 48:05 - 48:09
Our best, our wine that we get to offer
  • 48:10 - 48:11
    would be ourselves.
  • 48:14 - 48:16
    That's all that God wants.
  • 48:17 - 48:21
I love this cartoon, it's of a picture,
  • 48:21 - 48:25
    and it's a person holding
    out their heart to Jesus.
  • 48:26 - 48:29
And it says, "It's all I have."
  • 48:29 - 48:32
    To which Jesus responded,
    "It's all I want.
  • 48:32 - 48:33
    "It's all I want."
  • 48:33 - 48:35
    That's our wine.
  • 48:35 - 48:37
    So here we are, Easter.
  • 48:38 - 48:40
    It's a moment of decision.
  • 48:40 - 48:42
    Are you ready for this?
  • 48:42 - 48:46
    Jesus already made his,
    and that decision was us.
  • 48:47 - 48:49
It was you, it was me,
  • 48:51 - 48:54
    and because of Easter, we
    don't have to be afraid
  • 48:54 - 48:58
because our past is completely forgiven.
  • 48:58 - 49:02
    Our future, it's in the
Book of Life, if we want it.
  • 49:03 - 49:06
And if we get those two, really get it,
  • 49:06 - 49:08
then our life then is full
  • 49:09 - 49:12
and that's how we get to live today.
  • 49:12 - 49:13
    So Jesus made his decision.
  • 49:13 - 49:16
The question is: Have you made yours?
  • 49:19 - 49:21
    Have you made that decision
  • 49:21 - 49:25
    to completely, to fully
    lay down your wants,
  • 49:27 - 49:31
    lay down your opinions,
    lay down your ideas?
  • 49:31 - 49:34
    Quit leaning on your understanding
  • 49:34 - 49:36
and begin to let the Word of God
  • 49:36 - 49:39
    richly indwell within you.
