  • 0:00 - 0:02
my experience when it comes to
  • 0:02 - 0:04
    disability being included in the
    conversation
  • 0:04 - 0:06
about inclusivity has been that in
  • 0:06 - 0:08
    general it hasn't been
  • 0:12 - 0:14
It's only recently that it's really start
  • 0:14 - 0:16
to move the needle on me, you do a lot of
  • 0:16 - 0:19
    work with sag-aftra in issues
    around of diversity
  • 0:19 - 0:21
and inclusivity and I got a say that
  • 0:21 - 0:23
the performance of disability to me
    has done
  • 0:23 - 0:25
    phenomenal work in moving the
    needle in
  • 0:25 - 0:28
    getting this conversation
    happening in the industry,
  • 0:28 - 0:29
    its amazing how much energy
  • 0:29 - 0:32
it takes to get that big old bolder role
  • 0:32 - 0:35
in just an inch and they've done that
  • 0:35 - 0:36
and it's starting to move now
  • 0:36 - 0:37
    It's actually starting to role
  • 0:37 - 0:39
and people have that in conversation
  • 0:39 - 0:40
    cause-ahh-causepeople
  • 0:41 - 0:43
I think what Iam most excited
    about right now
  • 0:43 - 0:46
is that so many people are talking about
  • 0:46 - 0:48
    equality and inclusivity and
  • 0:48 - 0:51
they are trying to make sure that
    nobody get's left out
  • 0:51 - 0:52
and so when you point out
  • 0:52 - 0:55
to somebody that you are leaving out
  • 0:55 - 0:56
    the 20% of the population
  • 0:56 - 0:58
they pay attention, they wake up
  • 0:58 - 1:01
and so that to me has been, I think it's
  • 1:01 - 1:04
not been nearly as hard a converstion
  • 1:04 - 1:06
as it would have been 10-15 years ago
  • 1:06 - 1:08
people suddenly go, oh ! you are right
  • 1:08 - 1:10
I haven't been thinking about that
  • 1:10 - 1:13
    i have'nt been including performance
of the disabilities in my projects,
  • 1:13 - 1:15
    I haven't been hiring writers
    with disabilities
  • 1:15 - 1:17
I haven't been looking for producer
  • 1:17 - 1:20
so the simple fact that is being pointed
  • 1:20 - 1:23
out to them in a sometimes in the
  • 1:23 - 1:26
shaming way but sometimes in the
  • 1:26 - 1:29
this action will help improve your
    bottom line
  • 1:29 - 1:32
    because people always wanna see
    themselves on camera
  • 1:32 - 1:34
and this doesn't always either be
    the point
  • 1:34 - 1:36
in fact sometimes it's most powerful win
  • 1:36 - 1:38
yo, what you see a person on camera with a
  • 1:38 - 1:41
disability and it's not the point of
    the story
  • 1:41 - 1:45
    that's happening more and more
    it's not happening enough
  • 1:45 - 1:48
    but lets be clear
    but it's happening more
  • 1:48 - 1:50
cause you know at the end of
    the day
  • 1:50 - 1:51
I think people are starting to
    realize that if you
  • 1:51 - 1:55
say you stand for a quality, it's got
be a quality across the board
  • 1:55 - 1:58
It can't be just quality for people
    that look look like me
  • 1:58 - 2:01
or my gender,or think like me, or
    love like me
  • 2:01 - 2:03
It's gotta be a quality for everybody
  • 2:03 - 2:06
either you fight for everybody or
you really just fighting for yourself
  • 2:06 - 2:07
    and people like you
  • 2:07 - 2:09
    so I think that's the message that's
gotta get out there more and more
  • 2:09 - 2:13
I think, It's out there that simple
    note of
  • 2:13 - 2:14
    don't forget about these folks
  • 2:14 - 2:16
who are by the way is the biggest
    population
  • 2:17 - 2:19
of people that are forgotten in the
    country
