-
Hey everyone, The Walking Virus here, As gamers
we all have those games that we love to go
-
back to time and time again,
which is why the recent surge in remasterings
-
has been doing so well, everything from simple
updated remasterings like
-
The Handsome Jack collection, to entire rehauls
like ducktales remastered, allow us to play
-
and enjoy some of our old
favorites in new ways without hauling out
-
our old equipment.
-
But theres still plenty of classics that we
wish we didn't
-
have to find an a/v jack in order to play,
so here's our Top 5 Game Series We Wish Would
-
Get Remastered.
-
#5 - Actraiser
-
Actraiser was an amazing game from the SNES
era, putting the player in the role of a god
-
trying to restore his peoples
faith as he battled various monsters from
-
mythology, it combined peaceful god-sim gameplay
and intense action-platforming
-
segments into something spectacularly different
from anything else of its time.
-
If the game were to be updated It's
different gameplay elements would lend itself
-
perfectly to a combination of god of war style
action levels, with a
-
simplified version of civilizations city management.
-
But since this games rights have been sitting
in the square enix
-
vaults for over 20 years it's highly unlikely
we'll get to see any new or remastered Actraiser
-
awesomeness but hey, we
can dream.
-
#4 - Dungeon Keeper
-
One of Peter Molyneux's crowning achievements,
Dungeon keeper put players in the role of
-
an evil overlord looking to lure
in the heros of the land into their dungeons
-
full of ferocious and terrible monsters...and
also worthless imps...tons of
-
worthless imps.
-
The game caused players to not only have to
think of how they were going to design their
-
dungeon to best
lure the heroes into devious traps, but also
-
what monsters they would attempt to lure to
their dungeon, as monsters had their
-
own patterns and natural enemies they would
fight with.
-
This game is probably one of the more likely
to get remastered as
-
EA at least tried to reboot the series on
mobile...unfortunately EA did EA things and
-
the game ended up being a complete
disaster but at least they're still doing
-
things with the franchise...I just want Hi-Def
Imps to smack around EA, IS THAT SO
-
MUCH TO ASK?!
-
#3 - Giants Citizen Kabuto
-
Giants Citizen Kabuto is one of the strange
gems of the ps2 era that didn't do spectacularly
-
well at launch but sold extremely
well after release.
-
The game combined 3rd person shooting and
actiion elements with the base building mechanics
-
of an RTS.
-
The
games crowning moments were the charm of it's
-
unique sense of humor, and the diverse gameplay
each of the 3 playable races
-
provided, theres something so immensely satisfying
about destroying a base as a 25 ft monstrosity
-
while they feebly attempt to
destroy you.
-
Unfortunately the studio who made this gem
has since closed down and no one can figure
-
out who the rights actually
went to when that happened so this one is
-
probably one of the least likely to occur,
which is a shame because who wouldn't want
-
to see a Smartie in HD.
-
#2 - Legacy of Kain Series
-
Ok so I know this isn't actually one game,
but this entire series was one of the first
-
times I can think of besides the ultima
series that actually managed to conclude a
-
multi-game story in an at least relatively
satisfying way.
-
The games focused on the
intertwined stories of Kain and Raziel as
-
they struggled over the entire fate of Nosgoth,
and featured action adventure gameplay
-
whose influence can still be seen today in
titles such as god of war.
-
With it's dark world and storytelling this
series could easily
-
benefit from an overhauled remake to bring
its graphics to modern times.
-
This is another Gem that Square Enix has it's
hands on,
-
although they did have a recent release based
on the IP so we can only hope that we will
-
get to see the world of Nosgoth get
the shiny new coat it deserves.
-
#1 - Chrono Trigger
-
I don't think there's anything I can say about
Chrono Trigger that hasn't been said thousands
-
of times already, it is one of the most
beloved RPGs of all time.
-
This game not only had a spectacular combat
system that caused players to think beyond
-
their action meter
filling up, it also has one of the better
-
uses of a time travel storyline and the cause
and effect that such travel would cause to
-
happen.
-
It had memorable moments and characters and
a run time that allowed the game to be impactful
-
without feeling like it was
dragging too much.
-
This is one of the first games I fell in love
with as a child and I am rather amazed that
-
it has never gotten
a remastery already.
-
considering how well Akira Toriyama's art
style seems to work with cell shaded graphics
-
I would be super excited
to see this game get a rehaul to a 3d style,
-
although once again this will all come down
to Square Enix and I think we'd have to wait
-
until they're done with that Final Fantasy
7 overhaul to see if they'd ever be willing
-
to do anything with the series again, speaking
of
-
HURRY IT UP SQUARE!!!
-
But what do you all think?
-
Do you feel like there's a game that should
have made this list or think we were wrong
-
about some of the ones on
here?
