Tarnobrzeg is a small town situated in the south-east of Poland.

The monument of Bartosz Głowacki was erected in 1904.

Głowacki was a peasant who fought for the independence of Poland in 1794.

Now the population of Tarnobrzeg is almost 50,000 inhabitants.

The castle is the most magnificent building in the town.

The castle belonged to the Tarnowski family.

The first building was erected in 15th c. and the present one was built after a fire in 1927.

The castle is surrounded by a picturesque park.

In the second half of the 20th c. Tarnobrzeg developed thanks to the sulphur mines in the nearby villages.

It was the capital of the province between 1975 and 1998.

A few years ago, within the area of one of the mines a huge lake was built.

It attracts many visitors, especially in the summer time.

Water sports lovers can sail and windsurf here.

The Dominican Church is one of the landmarks of Tarnobrzeg.
