-
When I was an environmental activist,
-
my energy was directed outwards.
-
I thought that I was helping many people.
-
I was helping the environment,
-
but at the same time I was not able to have good relationship with the people closest to me,
-
my family, my friends, my colleagues and even within myself.
-
So I felt ashamed.
-
I felt that I needed to set the priority right and
-
with me being an activist,
-
I had this strong habit energy of looking outwards,
-
and see things that's not right.
-
I tried to fix it.
-
But I did not look inside myself.
-
What is wrong in here?
-
There's something that maybe need to be looked at, also.
-
So to become a spiritual activist is to look inwards, not just outward,
-
to look inwards more and to see what is in here that needs to be paid attention to.
-
And with Thầy's teachings, there is no separation.
-
Looking inwards is also taking care of the things outside.
-
But that doesn't mean they stop outside activities completely.
-
It's more about taking care of what is going on inside here more,
-
and when inside is more peaceful, is more calm than whatever action we do,
-
it's going to be based on understanding and love, not on anger or negative emotions.
