"What do I actually lose from
not going to Sangat (holy congregation)?"
-
This entire question is twisted.
-
"What do I gain from Sangat?"
That's what we say.
-
What will I gain from going?
That's why we go to places.
-
We go to listen to a lecture,
we go to sangat,
-
we go to school we go to a job,
to gain something.
-
We say, "If we don't gain anything,
then what's the purpose of us going?"
-
"I am fine at home, I'd
rather watch movies at home"
-
But ask those, and the question is
completely different in their mind.
-
They say, "It's not what
I gain from going."
-
But instead, "What do I lose
from not going?
-
That the path to my beloved Guru
is very very far.
-
It is cold. It is dark. It is muddy.
There's lots and lots of mud.
-
But, what will I gain if I go?
-
If I go, all my clothes will get wet.
That's what I gain from actually going.
-
But what do I lose from not going?
-
If I stay, my heart breaks.
-
See, by not coming
and valuing this Sangat,
-
many times we don't even realise
what we're not breaking.
-
At least those people realise that their
heart breaks by not going in Sangat.
-
But for many people (including myself),
we have such a bad fortune,
-
we don't even realise
what we're missing out on.
