-
Hello, we're Yeray and Sergi
-
and we will talk about Minorca
-
the good things and the bad thing about it.
-
Because Menorca can be a wonderful
-
island, as you know
-
but it also, has some bad things
-
let's start with the bad ones.
-
If we want to live the island
-
we have to travel by boat or plane
-
And in the mainland you have cheaper options
-
to travel around, for example:
-
the car, the train...
-
Also you can go whenever you want
-
Beacuse we have a fixed time table
-
Oh, Imagine if the airport is broken
-
it will be a disaster.
-
After that, there are a few shops
-
in Minorca and a lot of people
-
have to buy through Internet.
-
We don't have a lot of places
-
to go shopping,
-
we have Mango for example and stradivarius
-
but not a mall where everything is near.
-
We have a lot of pollution in summer
-
because a lot of people throw thing
-
on the sand, or in the water
-
and all these thing end up
-
in the same place and it can be removed
-
correctly .
-
Another example is
-
that during the "fiestas",
-
a lot of people throw their bottles
-
with gin and lemonade on the floor,
-
beers, plastic bags...
-
Minorca is a place to relax
-
but in summer there are thousands of
-
poeple that goes to relax like on the
-
beach, it can be stressful
-
because there are a lot of people
-
in the same place.
-
We know that we need this
-
because we depend on tourism
-
but in some situations it's stressful.
-
And finally the last drawback
-
is the Tramuntana
-
which is a wind that comes from the north
-
and drags many things to other places.
-
It's irregular
-
which means that we don't know when
-
it will arrive,
-
but we have it all the year.
-
Well,
-
now let's start with the positive things.
-
Minorca is a small place and there aren't
-
a lot of largest distances
-
For example the larges distance that we
-
have in Minorca is from Maó to Ciutadella
-
And also, is a place wher you can
-
relax and finally is a peaceful place.
-
Also in Minorca we have the
-
"cami de cavalls"
-
where you walk around Minorca visitng
-
secret places, we have 20 stages
-
and they're connected.
-
The Talaiotic culture is very important for
-
Minorcan people.
-
The prehistoric monuments we can find
-
are (navetes, talaiots) and this are one of
-
the most popular tourist attractions
-
For example: "Es poblat de Talati"
-
"Sa naveta d'es Tudons", "Torralba" etc
-
In MInorca, there are a lot of sports that
-
you can practice for example
-
football rollerblading, tennis
-
basketball..., but the problem is that we
-
can't practice winter sports.
-
For example, we play football in
-
Sporting Mahones, but sometimes we play
-
basketball, voley and different sports
-
when we can, also we like
-
going horse ridding with friends...
-
In the video we have prepared you'll see
-
our friends doing different sports in Minorca.
-
Minorca is a wonderful place where you
-
can find a lot of beaches. In Minorca
-
there are 197 beaches, 132 of sand
-
and 67 of rocks.
-
The beaches are completly clean and
-
beautiful but sometimes they're a little
-
bit dirty.
-
Finally it's the perfect place to relax
-
and release your bad feelings.
-
The "fiestas ara a traditional celebration
-
that only take place in Minorca.
-
They start with the "toc de fabiol".
-
During the fiestas people of different
-
ages do different thing for example drink
-
pomada which is made with lemon and gin
-
and it's so good. And pople also go to
-
the jaleo. The jaleo is the part of
-
the fiestas where the horses jump with the
-
the help of people that are around them
-
but if it's your first time there be
-
carful because if you're the typical
-
"giri" that wants to record everything
-
the horses can kick you. And finally when
-
the jaleo finishes, the samba starts. The
-
samba is the final part of the fiestas
-
where all the people go to the square
-
where the jaleo took place and start to
-
dance while the band plays
-
Oh, I love fiestas so much, Sant Jaume and
-
Sant Climent are my favourtie ones,
-
I also love the samba and being with
-
all my friends.
-
Well, in conclusion we can say that Minorca
-
is a place where you can do a lot of things
-
for example walk around the villages,
-
learn about their culture, practice some
-
aquatic sports... It's a place where you'll
-
be safe because it's a peacful island
-
but also has some problems for example
-
you don't have any malls on the island
-
where you can go shopping, some beaches
-
and villages are a bit dirty, especially
-
after the fiestas, and as we said before
-
you have to take the boat or the plane
-
to go out.
