The fairy tale: “Cuoi on moon palace” will give you an interesting answer for this.

Once upon a time, there was a woodcutter named Cuoi. One day, when he went into the forest to collect some wood, he saw four cubs which were lying in a cave.

Immediately, he killed them in order to protect the villagers later. But right after that, the mother tiger was coming back.

He was freaking out. Then he threw his axe and climb up on the nearby tree.

Opps I’m gonna die!

The mother tiger was extremely angry when she saw all of her children was already dead. Then she went to a tree nearby, picked its leaves up and used it to heal her children.

Soon afterwards, four cubs came alive. Cuoi was so surprise. He waited until the mother tigers brought all of her children away then he dug and carried that bizarre tree home.

Oh my god, how can they …?

On the way home, he met a dead body of the elder. Cuoi tried to use some new leaves to save his life. Magically, the elder woke up right afterwards.

The elder said: This is a magical banyan tree, God gave it to you to save the world. Take care of it and do not ever irrigate the dirty water. If not it will fly into the sky and you will lose it forever.

Cuoi brought it home, grew it up and always irrigated it by clean water.

Thanks to this magical banyan tree, he saved lots of lives. If he heard that somebody was dead, he immediately came and healed them.

One day, he saved a dog which was drowned in the river. Then the dog became his best friend.

Another time, he saved a girl of a rich family.

In order to say thank to him, she wanted to marry him. Her father was agree. And later on, the new couple lived together in happiness.

Suddenly one day, robbers knew that Cuoi has the magic to save the life. They killed his wife when he was not home.

Then they stole her heart and threw it into the river.

When he was back, his wife was dead pretty long time, he could not save her with the magical leaves because she did not have the heart.

The dog saw that his boss cried so much, so he decided to give his heart to Cuoi for trying to save his wife. Fortunately, after having a dog’s heart, his wife was rescued and woke up.

Later, Cuoi created a new heart by soil and tried to rescue the dog. The dog also came alive. The family continued to live together in happiness.

But from that time, the wife’s characteristic was changed. She always forgot what her husband told her.

The day that Cuoi had to go to the forest to cut the tree has come. Before going, he told his wife thousand times to use the clean water to irrigate the tree, but she forgot right away and used the dirty water instead.

Right afterwards, the magical banyan tree waverd strongly and flew to the sky.

At that time Cuoi was back, he was panic and used his axe in order to pull the tree back to the earth.

But the tree kept flying higher, Cuoi could not held it back and he also did not give up. Finally, the flying tree brought him to the moon palace.

Later on, Cuoi stays on the moon forever with his tree. And each year, just one leaf falls down to the ocean.
