summer room makeover soft & cute, minimal, korean inspired aesthetic

  • 0:12 - 0:13
I know it hasn't been all that long
  • 0:13 - 0:16
    since I've done a
    "room makeover" style video
  • 0:16 - 0:20
but my room has been in this layout
for at least half a year
  • 0:20 - 0:22
    and it's summer, so...
  • 0:24 - 0:26
    like, why not?
  • 0:26 - 0:28
If you've seen my vlogs before
  • 0:28 - 0:31
I've mentioned how I'm the type of person
  • 0:31 - 0:34
who really needs to change up
    her environment frequently
  • 0:34 - 0:36
    to feel inspired and motivated.
  • 0:36 - 0:38
And with the new season coming
  • 0:38 - 0:41
    I feel like my room
could be more suited to summer.
  • 0:41 - 0:44
So I'm going to keep that in mind
  • 0:44 - 0:46
    and rearrange some things today.
  • 0:46 - 0:49
    [To do: move the bed]
The main thing I want to do is move my bed
  • 0:49 - 0:52
    which is the largest furniture
I may have in my room
  • 0:52 - 0:55
so I think when I find a new spot for it
  • 0:55 - 0:57
    everything else will have to
    shift accordingly
  • 0:57 - 1:00
giving me a whole new layout to work with.
  • 1:00 - 1:02
I want a drastic enough change in my room
  • 1:02 - 1:05
so I feel more inspired again,
    like it's a new space.
  • 1:05 - 1:09
    Because I spend so much
of my time in this room
  • 1:09 - 1:11
I don't want to get tired of it.
  • 1:11 - 1:14
    Just by rearranging stuff
and finding new places for them
  • 1:14 - 1:18
is an easy way of giving yourself
    a room makeover
  • 1:18 - 1:21
without having to buy new things
  • 1:21 - 1:25
    or do any intensive reconstruction
    or renovation.
  • 1:25 - 1:27
So today is a room day.
  • 1:28 - 1:33
    Chapter 1. Moving the bed
  • 1:33 - 1:37
My bed faces away from the window
and doesn't get much light during the day
  • 1:37 - 1:40
so I want to move it
to the brighter side of my room.
  • 1:44 - 1:48
    And the process begins...
  • 1:51 - 1:52
    Noticing all the dust.
  • 2:03 - 2:06
    A tiresome but necessary
    part of the process.
  • 2:14 - 2:15
    Last push.
  • 2:16 - 2:20
If I have my bed on this side of the room
    my closet is blocked
  • 2:21 - 2:24
Aside from that I like my bed here...
  • 2:28 - 2:32
Testing out the view of my room
if I were to lay here.
  • 2:32 - 2:34
    (from multiple angles)
  • 2:34 - 2:36
    Hmm
  • 2:38 - 2:40
    Testing closet practicality.
  • 2:43 - 2:46
"Is there enough room for me
    to reach the top shelves?"
  • 2:46 - 2:49
    "How about the far hangers?"
  • 2:49 - 2:52
    Many things to consider.
  • 2:54 - 2:56
Yeah, it'll be a pain to get
    certain things down
  • 2:56 - 2:58
but my room is cuter like this.
  • 3:00 - 3:04
    Sometimes we accept minor inconveniences
    for the greater good.
  • 3:08 - 3:10
    Now to fix the sheets.
  • 3:19 - 3:23
The planks I'm using to elevate my bed
    went into hiding.
  • 3:23 - 3:26
    It's time to overcome
    your shyness, planks!
  • 3:30 - 3:34
I'm going to change up the sheet design
    while I'm at it.
  • 3:40 - 3:42
    Realizashun
  • 3:42 - 3:43
    "It's so wrinkly!"
  • 3:46 - 3:50
    After having these sheets
locked up in my drawers for 6 months
  • 3:50 - 3:51
    they're not looking the cutest.
  • 3:55 - 3:58
At least these are the sheets
    that will be covered.
  • 3:59 - 4:02
I can't be bothered to wait
for them to airdry at the moment.
  • 4:05 - 4:09
    My fingers after I shower.
  • 4:11 - 4:13
I am of the strong belief
  • 4:13 - 4:16
    that they have no business
    looking like this.
  • 4:17 - 4:22
Originally I had a white fitted sheet
And a pink sheet on top of that
  • 4:22 - 4:24
but now it's reverse uno card
  • 4:24 - 4:26
and we're doing white on pink this time.
  • 4:28 - 4:31
I know, big changes are being
    made out here. 😪
  • 4:32 - 4:36
    Intermission. Snack break.
  • 4:40 - 4:43
Grapes are like candy in a fruit form
  • 4:44 - 4:48
    (chopsticks to prevent finger stickiness)
  • 4:52 - 4:55
Is there a draft in here?
  • 4:57 - 5:01
The temperature of the testes is
    maintained at 95°F
  • 5:01 - 5:05
So it is literally hot as balls here and
    my fan is working hard
  • 5:06 - 5:09
    Casually dying
  • 5:10 - 5:14
It may be summer, but the bed isn't
    complete without a comforter
  • 5:16 - 5:20
    Wrinkles' disappearance act
  • 5:30 - 5:33
The bed has finally settled into
    her new home
  • 5:35 - 5:38
    Or has she?
  • 5:42 - 5:45
I bought some fabric the other day
  • 5:46 - 5:50
I love gingham print and it would
be nice to add more colors to my room
  • 5:50 - 5:51
aside from pink, green and brown
  • 5:56 - 6:00
    Chapter 2. Diy pillowcases
  • 6:02 - 6:05
I am going to begin my first project with
    my new sewing machine
  • 6:07 - 6:12
After measuring my pillows' length and
width, I am sketching a design
  • 6:17 - 6:20
    Approximate dimensions of my
    queen size pillows
  • 6:20 - 6:23
    I am cutting pieces of 40" x 21.5" fabric
  • 6:36 - 6:40
I still have to set up the sewing machine
  • 6:42 - 6:46
I folded the fabric in half and it was
more than enough material for the cases
  • 6:53 - 6:57
I am by no means a professional at
    using this sewing machine
  • 6:57 - 6:59
But trying my best to learn
  • 7:01 - 7:04
    Twitch keeping me company
  • 7:13 - 7:17
Changing out the white and grey
    pillowcases for more color
  • 7:21 - 7:25
    The bed: Complete
  • 7:26 - 7:30
    Chapter 3: Rearranging furniture
  • 7:33 - 7:37
Shaking up the nest of charging cables
  • 7:42 - 7:45
More like a dust bunny burrow...
  • 7:46 - 7:50
    Animal control has pulled up
  • 7:56 - 8:00
I don't know if I like having something
at the foot of my bed
  • 8:00 - 8:02
    because I fell like
  • 8:02 - 8:04
it would make me feel almost trapped
  • 8:04 - 8:07
    or cluttered in at least
  • 8:09 - 8:11
    When in doubt...
  • 8:14 - 8:17
    a POV check
  • 8:21 - 8:24
    Thinking hard?
  • 8:26 - 8:29
    Not really
  • 8:33 - 8:37
Brain has partially recharged so I'm
putting this here for now idk
  • 8:44 - 8:47
Need to fill in the empty spaces
  • 8:49 - 8:53
I have also been waiting to move my desk
    to a new spot
  • 8:53 - 8:56
I am tired of working facing a wall
  • 8:57 - 9:01
I want to move it in front of the window
so I am exposed to more light
  • 9:04 - 9:07
    This is more like it
  • 9:10 - 9:14
Maybe this isn't as practical as
    I expected
  • 9:16 - 9:19
But I love how the natural light is
    reflected off the glass surface
  • 9:23 - 9:26
Sunlight is important for my happiness
  • 9:31 - 9:35
Indecisiveness is giving me an arm workout
  • 9:36 - 9:40
No, the first look was the best
  • 9:40 - 9:43
    trust intuition
  • 9:44 - 9:47
Chapter 4: A few more logistics
  • 9:47 - 9:50
I really want to change out some of the
    clothes I have displayed
  • 9:50 - 9:51
    on my clothing rack
  • 9:51 - 9:55
Because although I like the color
    it brings to my room
  • 9:55 - 9:58
I have a lot of sweaters and
    warmer clothing
  • 9:58 - 10:01
And it's not really the summer vibe
  • 10:01 - 10:04
We want cute dresses and light tops
    and stuff
  • 10:06 - 10:09
    Already experiencing the inconvenience of
    the bed position...
  • 10:14 - 10:17
    Just looking at the knitwear
    makes me sweat
  • 10:18 - 10:21
    Farewell sweaters and coats
  • 10:21 - 10:25
The era had come to an end
  • 10:29 - 10:33
Seriously wondering how long I'll last
    with the bed here
  • 10:37 - 10:41
I need to figure out the new
    cable set up too
  • 10:46 - 10:50
    Chapter 5: Decorate & Colorize
  • 10:52 - 10:56
I recently learned that this is how you
    burn a candle evenly
  • 10:57 - 10:59
    Ufo candle
  • 11:00 - 11:02
    Flipping the reeds
  • 11:09 - 11:11
My friend gave me this cute postcard
  • 11:12 - 11:14
    Looks even cuter up here
  • 11:23 - 11:26
Still haven't got a new pot for this plant
  • 11:26 - 11:30
but the least I could do is remove
    this plastic hanger
  • 11:34 - 11:37
This pouch used to sit on my desk
  • 11:38 - 11:42
    I am adding cooler colors
like blue and purple to my room
  • 11:43 - 11:47
Before my goal was to only use warm colors
  • 11:47 - 11:50
but summer calls for a freshness that
requires all colors of the spectrum
  • 11:59 - 12:02
    Summer bedroom: Fin
  • 12:04 - 12:07
    Chapter 6: Tour
  • 12:15 - 12:18
My keys have a new place
  • 12:32 - 12:35
So happy with how these turned out!
  • 12:36 - 12:39
    Bedding makes a big difference
  • 12:58 - 13:01
    Passed the POV check
  • 13:10 - 13:12
    Marking a friend's b-day
  • 13:18 - 13:22
Having my glass desk here makes the room
    much brighter
  • 13:40 - 13:43
This new layout is very exciting
  • 13:43 - 13:48
and it's bringing a lot more light to my
room or maybe that's just placebo
  • 13:48 - 13:52
and I get over it in a week and decide to
    rearrange my furniture again
  • 13:52 - 13:56
But I'll do that when the time comes
    as I'm now very satisfied
  • 13:56 - 14:00
    And my whole closet situation
  • 14:00 - 14:05
It might be annoying to deal with it
    but that's a me issue
  • 14:05 - 14:06
    I'm making that sacrifice
  • 14:07 - 14:09
If it's gonna be too much,
    I'll figure it out
  • 14:09 - 14:12
For now, I hope you enjoyed
    the beginning of summer
  • 14:12 - 14:15
Hope you are taking care of yourself
    and doing well
  • 14:15 - 14:18
    Take care friend
