Inner Worlds, Outer Worlds - Part 3 - The Serpent and the Lotus
-
0:03 - 0:07Prior to the dawn of Western civilization
and written language -
0:07 - 0:13science and spirituality were not two separate
things. -
0:13 - 0:16In the teachings of the great ancient traditions
-
0:16 - 0:20the outer search for knowledge and certainty
was balanced -
0:20 - 0:22by an inner feeling of impermanence
-
0:22 - 0:27and intuitive understanding of the spiral
of change. -
0:27 - 0:31As scientific thinking became more dominant
and information multiplied, -
0:31 - 0:36fragmentation began to occur within our knowledge
systems. -
0:36 - 0:38Increased specialization meant that fewer
people -
0:38 - 0:40were capable of seeing the big picture,
-
0:40 - 0:45of feeling and intuiting the aesthetic of
the system as a whole. -
0:45 - 0:57No one was asking, "is all this thinking good
for us?" -
0:57 - 1:01The ancient knowledge is here in our midst,
hidden in plain view. -
1:01 - 1:06But we are too preoccupied with our thoughts
to recognize it. -
1:06 - 1:10This forgotten wisdom is way to restore the
balance -
1:10 - 1:15between the inner and the outer.
-
1:15 - 1:15Yin and yang.
-
1:15 - 1:52Between the spiral of change and the stillness
at our core. -
1:52 - 2:00In Greek legend, Asclepius was the son of
Apollo and the god of healing. -
2:00 - 2:03His wisdom and skills for healing were unsurpassed
-
2:03 - 2:10and he is said to have discovered the secret
to life and death itself. -
2:10 - 2:13In ancient Greece the Asclepian healing temples
-
2:13 - 2:16recognized the power of the primordial spiral
-
2:16 - 2:21Which is symbolized by the rod of Asclepius.
-
2:21 - 2:26Hippocrates, the father of medicine,
-
2:26 - 2:27whose oath still forms the moral
-
2:27 - 2:30code of the medical profession is said to
have -
2:30 - 2:33received his training at an Asclepian temple.
-
2:33 - 2:37To this day, this symbol of our evolutionary
energy -
2:37 - 2:40remains as the logo of the American Medical
Association -
2:40 - 2:48and other medical organizations worldwide.
-
2:48 - 2:51In Egyptian iconography, the snake and bird
represent -
2:51 - 3:02the duality or polarity of human nature.
-
3:02 - 3:07The snake, the downward direction, is the
manifested spiral, -
3:07 - 3:13the evolutionary energy of the world.
-
3:13 - 3:17The bird is the upward direction; the upward
current oriented -
3:17 - 3:22towards the sun or awakened single-pointed
consciousness; -
3:22 - 3:34the emptiness of Akasha.
-
3:34 - 3:37Pharaohs and gods are depicted with awakened
energy -
3:37 - 3:40whereby the Kundalini snake moves up the spine
and pierces -
3:40 - 3:48"Ajna chakra" between the eyes.
-
3:48 - 3:52This is referred to as the eye of Horus.
-
3:52 - 3:58In the Hindu tradition the bindi is also representative
of the third eye; -
3:58 - 4:07the divine connection to spirit.
-
4:07 - 4:10King Tutankhamen’s mask is a classic example
-
4:10 - 4:19showing both the snake and bird motifs.
-
4:19 - 4:25The Mayan and Aztec traditions combine the
serpent and bird motif into one god. -
4:25 - 4:27Quetzalcoatl or Kukulkan.
-
4:27 - 4:30The plumed serpent god represents the awakened
evolutionary -
4:30 - 4:34consciousness or awakened Kundalini.
-
4:34 - 4:38The person who awakens Quetzalcoatl within
themselves -
4:38 - 4:41is a living manifestation of the divine.
-
4:41 - 4:46It is said that Quetzalcoatl, or serpent energy,
-
4:46 - 5:01shall return at the end of time.
-
5:01 - 5:06The snake and bird symbols can be found within
Christianity as well. -
5:06 - 5:08Their true meaning may be more deeply encrypted
-
5:08 - 5:14but the meaning is the same as in other ancient
traditions. -
5:14 - 5:19In Christianity, the bird or dove often seen
above Christ's head -
5:19 - 5:23represents Holy Spirit or Kundalini Shakti
-
5:23 - 5:29as it rises to the sixth chakra and beyond.
-
5:29 - 5:38The Christian mystics called Kundalini by
another name; Holy Spirit. -
5:38 - 5:45In John 3:12 it says, "and as Moses lifted
up the serpent in the wilderness, -
5:45 - 5:51so must the son of man be lifted up."
-
5:51 - 5:56Jesus and Moses awakened their Kundalini energy,
bringing awakened consciousness -
5:56 - 6:03to the unconscious reptilian forces that drive
human craving. -
6:03 - 6:05Jesus was said to have spent forty days and
forty nights -
6:05 - 6:12in the desert, during which time he was tempted
by Satan. -
6:12 - 6:18Similarly, the Buddha was tempted by "Mara"
as he sat to reach -
6:18 - 6:27enlightenment under the bodhi tree, or wisdom
tree. -
6:27 - 6:30Both Christ and Buddha had to turn away from
the lure of sensory -
6:30 - 6:38pleasures and worldly grasping.
-
6:38 - 7:01In each story, the demon is the personification
of one's own attachments. -
7:01 - 7:06If we read the Adam and Eve story in the light
of the Vedic and Egyptian traditions -
7:06 - 7:11we find that the serpent guarding the tree
of life is Kundalini. -
7:11 - 7:16The apple represents the lure and temptation
of the external sensory world, -
7:16 - 7:19distracting us from the knowledge of the inner
world, -
7:19 - 7:33the tree of knowledge within.
-
7:33 - 7:38The tree is simply the network of Nadis or
energy meridians within ourselves, -
7:38 - 7:45which literally form tree-like structures
throughout the body. -
7:45 - 7:48In our egoic quest for external gratification
-
7:48 - 7:52we have cut ourselves off from the knowledge
of the inner world, -
7:52 - 8:07our connection to Akasha and the wisdom source.
-
8:07 - 8:10Many of the world's historical myths about
dragons -
8:10 - 8:12can be read as metaphors for the inner energies
-
8:12 - 8:15of the cultures in which they are embedded.
-
8:15 - 8:24In China, the dragon is still a sacred symbol
representing happiness. -
8:24 - 8:27Like the Egyptian pharaohs, ancient Chinese
emperors -
8:27 - 8:31who had awakened their evolutionary energies
-
8:31 - 8:36were represented by the winged snake, or dragon.
-
8:36 - 8:41The royal totem of the Jade Emperor or Celestial
Emperor -
8:41 - 8:46shows a balance similar to Ida and Pingala.
-
8:46 - 8:50The yin and yang of Taoism, awakening the
pineal center -
8:50 - 9:07or in what in Taoism is called the Upper Dantien.
-
9:07 - 9:08Nature is full of different light detection
-
9:08 - 9:11and assimilation mechanisms.
-
9:11 - 9:15For example, a sea urchin can actually see
with its spiky body -
9:15 - 9:19which acts as one big eye.
-
9:19 - 9:22Urchins detect light striking their spines
and compare -
9:22 - 9:36the beams' intensities to get a sense of their
surroundings. -
9:36 - 9:40Green iguanas and other reptiles have a parietal
eye -
9:40 - 9:44or pineal gland on top of their heads which
they use to detect -
9:44 - 9:56predators from above.
-
9:56 - 10:00The human pineal gland is a small endocrine
gland -
10:00 - 10:04that helps to regulate waking and sleeping
patterns. -
10:04 - 10:06Even though it is buried deep inside the head
-
10:06 - 10:12the pineal gland is sensitive to light.
-
10:12 - 10:15The philosopher Descartes recognized that
the pineal gland area -
10:15 - 10:20or the third eye was the interface between
consciousness and matter. -
10:20 - 10:23Almost everything is symmetrical in the human
body. -
10:23 - 10:31Two eyes, two ears, two nostrils-even the
brain has two sides. -
10:31 - 10:33But there is one area of the brain that is
not mirrored. -
10:33 - 10:40This is the pineal gland area and the energetic
center that surrounds it. -
10:40 - 10:43On a physical level unique molecules are formed
naturally -
10:43 - 10:46by the pineal gland such as DMT.
-
10:46 - 10:52DMT also forms naturally at the moment of
birth and at the moment of death, -
10:52 - 10:58literally acting as a unique bridge between
the world of the living and the dead. -
10:58 - 11:05DMT is produced naturally during states of
deep meditation -
11:05 - 11:09and Samhadi, or through entheogenic means.
-
11:09 - 11:15For example, Ayahuasca is used in the shamanic
traditions -
11:15 - 11:23in South America to remove the veil between
the inner and outer worlds. -
11:23 - 11:27The word pineal itself has the same root as
pine-cone -
11:27 - 11:32because the pineal gland exhibits a similar
spiral phyllotaxis pattern. -
11:32 - 11:36This pattern, also known as the flower of
life pattern, -
11:36 - 11:41is common in ancient artwork depicting enlightened
or awakened beings. -
11:41 - 11:45When the pine cone image is seen in sacred
artwork it represents the -
11:45 - 11:49awakened third eye; single pointed consciousness
-
11:49 - 11:54directing the flow of evolutionary energy.
-
11:54 - 11:59The pine cone represents the flowering of
the higher chakras -
11:59 - 12:06which are activated as Sushumna rises to the
Ajna chakra and beyond. -
12:06 - 12:10In Greek mythology the worshippers of Dionysus
carried a thyrsus -
12:10 - 12:16or giant staff wrapped with spiraling vines
topped with a pine-cone. -
12:16 - 12:20Again, representing Dionysian energy or Kundalini
Shakti -
12:20 - 12:31as it travels up the spine to the pineal body
at the sixth chakra. -
12:31 - 12:33In the heart of the Vatican you might expect
a giant sculpture -
12:33 - 12:39of Jesus or Mary but instead we find a giant
pine-cone statue -
12:39 - 12:42indicating that in Christian history there
may have been knowledge -
12:42 - 12:46of the chakras and Kundalini but for whatever
reason -
12:46 - 12:47it was kept from the masses.
-
12:47 - 12:51The official church explanation is that the
pine-cone -
12:51 - 13:03is a symbol of regeneration and represents
new life in Christ. -
13:03 - 13:14The
thirteenth century philosopher and mystic,
Meister Eckhart said, -
13:14 - 13:20"The eye with which I see God and the eye
with which God sees me -
13:20 - 13:25is one and the same."
-
13:25 - 13:31In the King James bible Jesus said, "the light
of the body is the eye, -
13:31 - 13:47if therefore thine eye be single, thy whole
body shall be full of light." -
13:47 - 13:52The Buddha said, "the body is an eye."
-
13:52 - 13:57In a state of Samadhi one is both the seer
and the seen. -
13:57 - 14:13We are the universe aware of itself.
-
14:13 - 14:18When Kundalini is activated, it stimulates
the sixth chakra -
14:18 - 14:21and pineal center and this area starts to
regain some of its -
14:21 - 14:26evolutionary functions.
-
14:26 - 14:29Darkness meditation has been used for thousands
of years -
14:29 - 14:35as a way to activate the sixth chakra in the
area of the pineal gland. -
14:35 - 14:41Activation of this center allows a person
to see their inner light. -
14:41 - 14:45Whether it is the proverbial yogi or shaman
retreating deep into a cave -
14:45 - 14:52or Taoist or Mayan initiate, or Tibetan monk,
all traditions incorporate -
14:52 - 14:57a period of time during which one goes into
the darkness. -
14:57 - 15:04The pineal gland is the gateway to experiencing
one's subtle energy directly. -
15:04 - 15:10The philosopher Nietzche said, "if you stare
into the abyss long enough, -
15:10 - 15:17eventually you find that the abyss stares
back at you." -
15:17 - 15:26Dolmens, or ancient portal tombs are among
the oldest remaining structures on Earth. -
15:26 - 15:32Most date to the Neolithic period of 3000-4000
BC and some in Western Europe -
15:32 - 15:35are seven thousand years old.
-
15:35 - 15:40The dolmen was used to enter into perpetual
meditation as a way -
15:40 - 15:47for a human to bridge the inner and outer
worlds. -
15:47 - 15:50As one continues to meditate in total darkness
eventually -
15:50 - 16:00one begins to observe inner energy or light
as the third eye becomes active. -
16:00 - 16:04The circadian rhythms which are governed by
the sun and the moon channels -
16:04 - 16:17no longer control the functions of the body
and a new rhythm is established. -
16:17 - 16:19The seventh chakra, for thousands of years,
-
16:19 - 16:21has been represented by the "OM" symbol.
-
16:21 - 16:28A symbol which is constructed by Sanskrit
signs representing the elements. -
16:28 - 16:32When Kundalini rises beyond the sixth chakra
it begins to create an -
16:32 - 16:34energy halo.
-
16:34 - 16:37Halos appear consistently in the religious
paintings of different -
16:37 - 17:31traditions in all different parts of the world.
-
17:31 - 17:34The halo, or the depiction of an energy signature,
-
17:34 - 17:38around an awakened being, is common to virtually
all religions -
17:38 - 17:42in all parts of the world.
-
17:42 - 17:46The evolutionary process of awakening the
chakras -
17:46 - 17:49is not the property of one group or one religion,
-
17:49 - 18:07it is the birthright of every human being
on the planet. -
18:07 - 18:12The crown chakra is the connection to the
divine; -
18:12 - 18:15that which is beyond duality.
-
18:15 - 18:21Beyond name and form.
-
18:21 - 18:28Akhenaten was a pharaoh whose wife was Nefertiti.
-
18:28 - 18:32He is referred to as the son of the sun.
-
18:32 - 18:37He rediscovered "Aten", or the word of God
within himself, -
18:37 - 18:47uniting Kundalini and consciousness.
-
18:47 - 18:50In Egyptian iconography, once again the awakened
consciousness -
18:50 - 18:55is represented by the solar disk seen above
the heads of gods -
18:55 - 19:03or awakened beings.
-
19:03 - 19:06In the Hindu and Yogic traditions, this halo
is called -
19:06 - 19:17"Sahasrara", the thousand-petalled lotus.
-
19:17 - 19:23The Buddha is associated with the symbol of
the lotus. -
19:23 - 19:26The phyllotaxis pattern IS the same pattern
as can be found -
19:26 - 19:29in a blooming lotus.
-
19:29 - 19:31It IS the flower of life pattern.
-
19:31 - 19:33The seed of life.
-
19:33 - 19:36It is the fundamental pattern into which all
forms fit. -
19:36 - 19:54It is the very shape of space itself or a
quality inherent to Akasha. -
19:54 - 20:02At one time in history, the flower of life
symbol was prevalent all over Earth. -
20:02 - 20:05The flower of life is found guarded by lions
-
20:05 - 20:16at the most holy places in China and other
parts of Asia. -
20:16 - 20:22The 64 hexagrams of the I Ching often surround
the yinyang symbol -
20:22 - 20:27which is yet another way of representing the
flower of life. -
20:27 - 20:30Within the flower of life is the geometric
basis -
20:30 - 20:32for all of the platonic solids;
-
20:32 - 20:37essentially every form that can exist.
-
20:37 - 20:39The ancient flower of life begins with the
geometry -
20:39 - 20:45of the star of David, or upward and downward
facing triangles. -
20:45 - 20:49Or in 3D these would be tetrahedral structures.
-
20:49 - 20:55This symbol is a yantra, a sort of program
that exists within the universe; -
20:55 - 21:01the machine which is generating our fractal
world. -
21:01 - 21:04Yantras have been used as tools for awakening
consciousness -
21:04 - 21:05for thousands of years.
-
21:05 - 21:10The visual form of the yantra is an external
representation -
21:10 - 21:17of an inner process of spiritual unfolding.
-
21:17 - 21:21It is the hidden music of the universe made
visible, -
21:21 - 21:39comprised of intersecting geometrical forms
and interference patterns. -
21:39 - 21:44Each chakra is a lotus, a yantra, a psycho-physiological
center -
21:44 - 21:54through which the world can be experienced.
-
21:54 - 22:21A traditional yantra, such as can be found
in the Tibetan tradition, -
22:21 - 22:24is invested with rich layers of meaning,
-
22:24 - 22:29sometimes incorporating a complete cosmology
and world view. -
22:29 - 22:33The yantra is a constantly evolving pattern
-
22:33 - 22:35which works through the power of repetition
-
22:35 - 22:37or iteration of a cycle.
-
22:37 - 22:41The power of the yantra is all but lost in
today's world -
22:41 - 22:44because we seek meaning only in the external
form -
22:44 - 22:59and we do no connect it to our inner energies
through intention. -
22:59 - 23:01There is a good reason why priests, monks
and yogis -
23:01 - 23:04traditionally have been celibate.
-
23:04 - 23:08Today all but a tiny few know why they are
practicing celibacy -
23:08 - 23:11because the true purpose has become lost.
-
23:11 - 23:16Quite simply, if your energy is going into
producing more sperm or eggs, -
23:16 - 23:19as the case may be, then there is not as much
to fuel the rising -
23:19 - 23:24of Kundalini which activates the higher chakras.
-
23:24 - 23:34Kundalini is life energy, which is also sexual
energy. -
23:34 - 23:37When awareness becomes less focused on animal
urges -
23:37 - 23:41and is put into the objects reflective of
the higher chakras, -
23:41 - 23:49that energy flows up the spine into those
chakras. -
23:49 - 23:54Many of the tantric practices teach how to
master sexual energy -
23:54 - 24:07so it could be used for higher spiritual evolution.
-
24:07 - 24:09Your state of consciousness creates the right
conditions -
24:09 - 24:12for your energy to be able to grow.
-
24:12 - 24:16Entering a state of consciousness takes no
time. -
24:16 - 24:20As Eckhart Tolle says, "awareness and presence
always happen in the now." -
24:20 - 24:23If you are trying to make something happen
-
24:23 - 24:28then you are creating resistance to what is.
-
24:28 - 24:31It is the removing of all resistance that
allows -
24:31 - 24:38evolutionary energy to unfold.
-
24:38 - 24:41In the ancient Yogic tradition, yoga postures
were used -
24:41 - 24:44to prepare the body for meditation.
-
24:44 - 24:49Hatha yoga was never intended solely as an
exercise regime, -
24:49 - 24:54but as a way to link one's inner and outer
worlds. -
24:54 - 25:01The Sanskrit word "hatha" means: sun "ha",
and moon "tha". -
25:01 - 25:05In the original yoga sutra's of Patanjali
-
25:05 - 25:07the purpose of the eight limbs of yoga
-
25:07 - 25:10are the same as the Buddha's eight fold path;
-
25:10 - 25:14to liberate one from suffering.
-
25:14 - 25:17When the polarities of the dual world are
in balance, -
25:17 - 25:21a third thing is born.
-
25:21 - 25:23We find the mysterious Golden Key that unlocks
-
25:23 - 25:28the evolutionary forces of nature.
-
25:28 - 25:43This synthesis of the sun and moon channels
is our evolutionary energy. -
25:43 - 25:46Because humans are now identified almost exclusively
-
25:46 - 25:49with their thoughts and the outer world,
-
25:49 - 25:51it is a rare individual that achieves a balance
-
25:51 - 25:55of the inner and outer forces which allow
Kundalini -
25:55 - 25:59to awaken naturally.
-
25:59 - 26:02For those identified only with the illusion,
-
26:02 - 26:06Kundalini will always remain a metaphor,
-
26:06 - 26:12an idea, rather than a direct experience
-
26:12 -of one's energy and consciousness.
- Title:
- Inner Worlds, Outer Worlds - Part 3 - The Serpent and the Lotus
- Description:
-
All 4 parts of the film can be found at www.innerworldsmovie.com.
The primordial spiral is the manifested world, while Akasha is the unmanifested, or emptiness itself. All of reality is an interplay between these two things; Yang and Yin, or consciousness and matter. The spiral has often been represented by the snake, the downward current, while the bird or blooming lotus flower has represented the upward current or transcendence. The ancient traditions taught that a human being can become a bridge extending from the outer to the inner, from gross to subtle, from the lower chakras to the higher chakras. To balance the inner and the outer is what the Buddha called the middle way, or what Aristotle called the Golden Mean. You can be that bridge. The full awakening of human consciousness and energy is the birthright of every individual on the planet. In today's society we have lost the balance between the inner and the outer. We are so distracted by the outer world of form, thoughts and ideas, that we no longer take time to connect to our inner worlds, the kingdom of heaven that is within.

A: We whole-heartedly encourage everyone to share the existing Youtube links with their friends, embed on their website, or to create screenings for their community. I'm afraid we cannot allow you to re-upload the film to your own channel for the following reasons:
a) The content itself is copyrighted and is owned by REM Publishing Ltd. Some of the video clips in the film are licensed under certain agreements and cannot be distributed or controlled by third parties.
b) Several individuals have already tried to re-upload the film and to monetize their channel and/or make a profit from selling the film without our permission, or simply to try to build subscribers for their own channel. We don't always know what people's true motivation is (and sometimes neither do they).
c) Our channel contains closed captions in many languages and we don't want versions of the film floating around without these professional translations.
d) When users subscribe to the AwakenTheWorldFilm channel we can provide people future films as we release them. This is just the first of many films and our second is already in the works.
e) Our channel also provides links to our website and Facebook page and the opportunity for people to donate to the Awaken the World initiative. Money/ support is needed to make these films, and while we make them available for free, we really appreciate when people donate, offer translation skills or other support.
If you add the existing Youtube links to a playlist you can still share the film with your friends and viewers and still have it as part of your channel, just do not upload your own version. We greatly appreciate people who feel so strongly about the content that they want to share and spread the film, and hope that you will continue to do so.
3) Where can I find a screening/ workshop/ meditation retreat etc.
