0:22 - 0:25Do you ever speak to a young Christian and say:
-
0:25 - 0:29"Do you want to know what Christianity is like?
-
0:31 - 0:33Watch me."
-
0:33 - 0:36Do you ever say that?
-
0:45 - 0:47After all, the apostle Paul can say:
-
0:47 - 0:52"Be imitators of me, even as I also am of Christ."
-
0:57 - 0:59For all of us do follow people
-
0:59 - 1:01whether we like it or not
-
1:01 - 1:04consciously or unconsciously we do
-
1:13 - 1:15There are all kinds of things that are learned
-
1:15 - 1:19as much by example as by word.
-
1:24 - 1:28Isn't that why we pray and work to train up Christian parents?
-
1:28 - 1:30It's not just what the parents say, its what they do:
-
1:30 - 1:32"Watch me!"
-
1:36 - 1:39So if you're looking around for a good senior mentor,
-
1:39 - 1:41then always ask some fundamental questions.
-
1:41 - 1:44Don't just simply say: oh that person seems to be making a great go at it.
-
1:44 - 1:50Wonderful succes, just love that personnality, would like to be like that!
-
1:50 - 1:53Instead ask some fundamental questions.
-
1:53 - 1:57"You know all about my teaching"
-
1:57 - 2:01Does he follow apostolic teaching?
-
2:05 - 2:08How about way of life?
-
2:08 - 2:14Purpose? Faith? Patience? Love? Endurance? Sufferings!?
-
2:22 - 2:28Choose your mentors and then hold the right mentors in high regard.
-
2:28 - 2:30So in a world where there are so many false ideas or deceptive ideas
-
2:30 - 2:35or selfish ideas, or anti-God ideas
-
2:35 - 2:40what do you do to get orientated towards God himself?
-
2:42 - 2:45Well you go to his word.
-
2:45 - 2:48You hold on to the Bible.
-
2:51 - 2:53You're not what you think you are.
-
2:53 - 2:57But what you think… you are.
-
2:59 - 3:04So you need to think God's thoughts after him. Isn't that what Paul says?
-
3:04 - 3:11"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your… mind."
-
3:14 - 3:18That means that you must hold on to the Bible.
-
3:18 - 3:25Not as a magic book, but as a book that teaches you how to think, what to think.
-
3:28 - 3:32There is this teaching ministry, whether in our home or in small-groups, or with
-
3:32 - 3:35our children, or one-on-one with a neighbour,
-
3:35 - 3:37or around the coffee machine at work.
-
3:37 - 3:41And then evangelistic Bible-studies and adult Bible Classes.
-
3:41 - 3:47Whatever, constantly constantly teaching, preaching the word of God.
-
3:51 - 3:55How else shall we respond to this world that is
-
3:55 - 3:58going off on its own and other directions?
-
3:58 - 4:02How else shall we prevail in the last days?
-
4:02 - 4:06We hold out the word to others.
-
4:07 - 4:09Partager la vie
-
4:09 - 4:10Ouvrir la Parole
-
4:10 - 4:13Impacter les générations
-
4:13 - 4:16« Regarde-moi! »
-
4:16 - 4:21Avec la voix de Don Carson.
