Using a flip phone for 3 days

  • 0:09 - 0:13
    [unboxing my flip phone]
  • 0:18 - 0:24
So I got an AT&T Cingular Flip phone.
  • 0:24 - 0:26
This is what it looks like.
  • 0:26 - 0:32
It also came with this SIM card, this battery, and a charger.
  • 0:32 - 0:34
[I put cash into the SIM card for texts & calls]
So I put my SIM card in
  • 0:34 - 0:37
and then I'm going to put the batteries in.
  • 0:40 - 0:44
To turn on readout** mode, please press left software key.
  • 0:44 - 0:45
    What?
  • 0:49 - 0:50
    Okay.
  • 0:51 - 0:56
So I just need to put in the password for my wifi.
  • 0:56 - 0:58
This is going to take a while.
  • 0:58 - 1:01
So on the home screen, they have Google Maps,
  • 1:01 - 1:05
they have YouTube, Google Assistant, Store.
  • 1:05 - 1:08
It also has some basic apps here.
  • 1:08 - 1:13
Like weather news, browser. There's a camera.
  • 1:13 - 1:16
    [Testing out the camera]
  • 1:17 - 1:20
    #nofilter
  • 1:20 - 1:23
[but i added this and this]
  • 1:39 - 1:41
Why do my eyebrows look so dark?
  • 1:44 - 1:49
So apparently, the apps that I could download
on this phone are very limited.
  • 1:49 - 1:51
    Social media apps.
  • 1:51 - 1:53
    They only have Twitter.
  • 1:53 - 1:57
Facebook, and then some other apps that I
    don't use,
  • 1:57 - 2:00
I'm glad they have YouTube built in
  • 2:00 - 2:04
cause I spend most of my time on YouTube anyway.
  • 2:04 - 2:08
I could use the internet browser to log into
    my social media accou nts.
  • 2:08 - 2:13
Like, I could just go on to instagram.com
and then sign in and use that, I think,
  • 2:13 - 2:17
except I don't remember my password, so I don't think I can do that.
  • 2:17 - 2:21
[watching jungkook's bday vlive that i missed :)]
  • 2:26 - 2:31
I have these cute little stickers.
  • 2:31 - 2:34
So I'm going to be decorating my phone.
  • 2:36 - 2:38
It actually doesn't stick that well.
  • 2:43 - 2:47
Alright, so I managed to log into my Instagram.
  • 2:47 - 2:51
It keeps telling me to rotate my device to add a story.
  • 2:54 - 2:56
[LOL i don't think it works on this phone]
  • 2:57 - 3:06
If I wanted to like a picture, I would have to scroll down like this.
  • 3:06 - 3:12
[I usually heart most posts in my feed
    but this was too tedious]
  • 3:14 - 3:16
    [calling fedex regarding a package]
  • 3:17 - 3:22
So I'm looking at the tracking status of my shipment and...
  • 3:22 - 3:26
[listening to a kpop playlist on YouTube]
  • 3:31 - 3:34
    [editing a video]
  • 3:41 - 3:44
[instant cup of noodles for dinner]
  • 4:10 - 4:13
I've been binge reading a lot of webtoons recently.
  • 4:13 - 4:18
So I'm looking through webtoons on this phone.
  • 4:18 - 4:23
I'm going to try to do all of the things I
typically do on my iPhone using this phone.
  • 4:23 - 4:25
I'm going to start reading this webtoon.
  • 4:25 - 4:27
    Odd Girl Out by Morangji.
  • 4:27 - 4:33
I'm not sure if they have English translations on the English app. (they do!)
  • 4:33 - 4:37
But it looks like it's pretty popular, it has 285 episodes.
  • 4:37 - 4:40
So this is going to entertain me for a while.
  • 4:40 - 4:44
    Oh, that's a lot easier.
  • 4:44 - 4:45
    I learned how to scroll.
  • 4:45 - 4:48
Wait, this is so much easier.
  • 4:48 - 4:51
    *smoothly scrolling*
  • 5:06 - 5:08
    [day 2]
  • 5:18 - 5:20
    [checking emails...]
  • 5:33 - 5:36
    [watching youtube]
  • 5:36 - 5:39
I'm currently charging my phone right now.
  • 5:39 - 5:42
The battery life seems to be a little bit on the shorter side.
  • 5:42 - 5:45
I remember when I used a flip phone back when I was in Korea,
  • 5:45 - 5:49
the Korean keypad was rearranged in a way that
  • 5:49 - 5:53
    [similar characters are grouped together]
made a lot more sense because it wasn't necessarily in order.
  • 5:53 - 5:57
I'm still in the process of getting used to typing on the keypad.
  • 5:59 - 6:03
I've been trying to not wash my hair as frequently
  • 6:03 - 6:07
because I want to keep this color as long as possible.
  • 6:07 - 6:10
This is going to last about five washes.
    [it's semi-permanent dye]
  • 6:10 - 6:13
    I have washed it once.
  • 6:27 - 6:29
I used to survive on cheezits.
  • 6:29 - 6:31
[tb to freshman year of college]
  • 6:33 - 6:36
[cheezits = best cheese snack periodt]
  • 6:49 - 6:53
[i downloaded a few games on my phone]
  • 6:53 - 6:55
[this game was my go-to back in the day]
  • 7:03 - 7:05
Okay. I don't like this game.
  • 7:05 - 7:07
    Okay. Let's try again.
  • 7:08 - 7:09
    How'd I do that?
  • 7:10 - 7:12
    How'd I do that?
  • 7:31 - 7:34
    [this game is so addicting...]
  • 7:36 - 7:39
[it's just automatic after you get the hang of it]
  • 7:50 - 7:53
I'm just going to work on editing a video right now.
  • 8:01 - 8:04
[reading webtoons... already on ep 80]
  • 8:04 - 8:08
    [day 3]
  • 8:08 - 8:11
    [watching youtube while getting ready]
  • 8:33 - 8:36
    [calling my mom]
    - okay
  • 8:36 - 8:37
    - okay
  • 8:38 - 8:39
    - bye
  • 8:43 - 8:44
    - this is prettier, right?
  • 8:46 - 8:48
    [calling my mom pt 2]
  • 8:48 - 8:50
    -yeah, we're here right now
  • 8:54 - 8:56
    - yeah, where are you?
  • 8:56 - 8:58
    *found mom*
  • 9:04 - 9:07
[wanted to try out some body scrubs]
  • 9:16 - 9:19
    [stopped by a korean bakery]
  • 9:23 - 9:25
    [fried chicken for dinner!]
  • 9:35 - 9:39
[Texting my dad who is downstairs
bc I have no one else to text :')]
  • 9:39 - 9:44
[When I want to use my phone
but have no one to call:] Hello?
  • 9:49 - 9:53
    [day 4 (bonus?)]
  • 10:14 - 10:17
[my sister is brushing my hair]
  • 10:26 - 10:29
    [waiting for friend at cafe]
  • 10:36 - 10:40
[I've gotten a lot faster at typing on this phone]
  • 10:57 - 11:00
    [jin ramen never fails me]
  • 11:09 - 11:14
    [k-drama name: Police University]
  • 11:17 - 11:19
[final thoughts] Hey guys. So before I end the video,
  • 11:19 - 11:23
I wanted to give you guys my overall thoughts on using a flip phone for a few days.
  • 11:23 - 11:27
It's super portable. It fits right into the palm of my hand.
  • 11:27 - 11:29
    My hands are tiny.
  • 11:29 - 11:33
I've yet to meet someone who has smaller hands than I do.
  • 11:33 - 11:37
And it fits perfectly. This is my iPhone 11.
  • 11:37 - 11:39
This is the size of the phone.
  • 11:39 - 11:43
It does make it a little bit more difficult
    to access social media apps.
  • 11:43 - 11:47
So if you're looking into decreasing your
screen time, I would recommend this.
  • 11:47 - 11:52
Typing out text messages is a lot more difficult than a touch screen.
  • 11:52 - 11:54
Overall, I really liked this phone.
  • 11:54 - 11:56
It had all of the things that I needed.
  • 11:56 - 12:00
I definitely would do this again if I wanted to.
  • 12:00 - 12:02
So that's it for today's video.
  • 12:02 - 12:06
Thank you guys so much for watching and I
will see you in my next video.
