Not Synced[Music playing]
-
Not SyncedGood afternoon everybody. I'm a pro. Eight
-
Not Syncedyears ago I got the biggest and best
-
Not Syncedpresent ever of my life. After reading
-
Not Syncedbooks every night since I was about two,
-
Not Syncedmy mom opened a children's book store. I
-
Not Syncedstill remember the day I stepped into
-
Not Syncedthe warm, lovely place. Sunshine glowing
-
Not Syncedon the bookshelves, and I smelled the
-
Not Syncedscent of books, and I still remember the
-
Not Syncedhappy moment my mom held me in her arms
-
Not Syncedand read me a book. In an old house in Paris
-
Not Syncedthat was covered with vines lived
-
Not Syncedtwelve little girls
-
Not Syncedin two straight lines. Time passed and
-
Not SyncedI grew from a little kid who was often
-
Not Syncedmistaken for a boy, to a big girl
-
Not Syncedstanding in front of you on this stage.
-
Not SyncedHowever, the love of reading has been
-
Not Syncedkept unchanged, except that I don't suck
-
Not Syncedmy fingers anymore while I'm reading.
-
Not SyncedHaving the freedom to read and the
-
Not Syncedfreedom to choose, is one of the best
-
Not Syncedgifts my mom ever gave me. Also, running a
-
Not Syncedbookstore is not always a good choice
-
Not Syncedfor making money.
-
Not SyncedMom never regret quitting her high
-
Not Syncedsalary job and devoting herself to the
-
Not Syncedsmall bookstore. She is very proud of her
-
Not Syncedwork that brings a passion for reading
-
Not Syncedto me, and other children. Surrounded by
-
Not Syncedbooks, I am enthusiastic about reading. I
-
Not Syncedbring a book with me
-
Not Syncedwherever I go. I read in
-
Not Syncedrestaurants while I'm waiting for a meal.
-
Not SyncedI read in the Metro on my way to school.
-
Not SyncedI read every night before I go to sleep.
-
Not SyncedTo read is it to voyage through time to
-
Not Syncedvisit places you will never otherwise
-
Not Syncedknow, to experience the world of
-
Not Syncedimagination, adventure, and discovery. Take
-
Not SyncedAlice in Wonderland as an example. When I
-
Not Syncedread that book, I felt Alice
-
Not Syncedinto a Wonderland. It's so weird,
-
Not Syncedso visual. There, rabbits can talk.
-
Not SyncedPlaying cards can walk, and cats can
-
Not Syncedvanish at will. After I read that book,
-
Not Syncedmy mind kept wanting to return to
-
Not SyncedWonderland and experience all those
-
Not Syncednonsense again. So, I drew this picture. I
-
Not Synceddrew the Cheshire Cat, the caterpillar on
-
Not Syncedthe giant mushroom, and the girl. I don't
-
Not Syncedknow if the girl is Alice or myself. I was
-
Not Syncedtoo young when I drew that picture, but I
-
Not Syncedreally wish that I could have lived
-
Not Syncedinside that book. So you can see, in the
-
Not Syncedbook, Alice followed
-
Not Synceda rabbit and tumbled down in
-
Not SyncedWonderland, whereas in the real world a
-
Not Syncedbook can always lead you to escape the
-
Not Syncedboredom of everyday life, and enter a
-
Not Syncedmagic world. For example, we can take the
-
Not SyncedMagic School Bus to explore the human
-
Not Syncedbody, or we can escape into nature by
-
Not Syncedreading fabrice book of insects. We can
-
Not Syncedeven travel back to ancient Greece or
-
Not SyncedRome in the series of Horrible History.
-
Not SyncedWith a book, we can go anywhere and be
-
Not Syncedanything. Really it's also a good way for
-
Not Syncedus to connect with others. It's amazing
-
Not Syncedhow when you're reading a book on a train,
-
Not Synceda stranger next to you says "hey I love
-
Not Syncedthat book" - this is a true story between
-
Not Syncedme and Yoyo. We then immediately started a
-
Not Synceddiscussion about characters in that book.
-
Not SyncedYoyo's mom and my mom also found that
-
Not Syncedthey had a lot in common.
-
Not SyncedLast year, our families took a trip to
-
Not SyncedSingapore together. This is our
-
Not Syncedfirst day in Singapore. We went to a big
-
Not Syncedbookstore and spent half a day there.
-
Not SyncedThis is not the only story.
-
Not SyncedWe would share fun "Did You Know" books facts
-
Not Syncedwith my friends, or help other readers my
-
Not Syncedage find a book that's just right for
-
Not Syncedthem. We build up relationships and get
-
Not Syncedto know each other better. Also, I believe
-
Not Syncedthat when parents read to their children,
-
Not Syncedit brings back good memories from their
-
Not Syncedown childhood. This is a strong
-
Not Syncedrelationship that can get rid of gaps in-
-
Not Syncedbetween generations. Another amazing
-
Not Syncedthing about reading is
-
Not Syncedwhen you are reading, in a way, you're
-
Not Syncedengaging in a conversation with the author.
-
Not SyncedOne of the authors I admire very much is
-
Not SyncedBill Bryson. He was humorous and witty.
-
Not SyncedWhen reading his great book, a short
-
Not Syncedstory of nearly everything, I feel like
-
Not SyncedI'm accompanying the author as he
-
Not Syncedtravels through space and time, from the
-
Not SyncedBig Bang to the rise of civilization. His
-
Not Synceddeep curiosity of the world we live in,
-
Not Syncedand the encyclopedia knowledge of his
-
Not Syncedtopics impressed and touched me. Another
-
Not Syncedbeloved author is
-
Not SyncedRoald Dahl whose hilarious,
-
Not Syncedbreathtaking books are so attractive
-
Not Syncedthat I don't even want the story to end. I
-
Not Syncedhave read all of his books for children.
-
Not SyncedCharlie and the Chocolate Factory, The
-
Not SyncedWitches, BFG, and many others. When asked
-
Not Syncedin an interview about how do you get
-
Not Syncedyour story ideas, the author answered, "it
-
Not Syncedalways starts with a little seed of idea,
-
Not Synceda little germ. Every time I get a great
-
Not Syncedidea I will pull out a notebook and
-
Not Syncedwrite it down, or else it would disappear
-
Not Syncedlike a dream". These tips helped me a lot
-
Not Syncedwhen I first started writing. I use my
-
Not Syncedidea notebook to write down my seeds of
-
Not Syncedideas, and in the story of Memphis, Roald
-
Not SyncedDahl told us "watch with glittering eyes the
-
Not Syncedwhole world around you because the
-
Not Syncedgreatest secrets are always hidden in
-
Not Syncedthe most unlikely places". I was inspired
-
Not Syncedwhen I read this.
-
Not SyncedI'd taken advice not only from a
-
Not Syncedgreat author, but also from a wise man who
-
Not Syncedhad a keen insight into our world. Just
-
Not Syncedlike Roald Dahl's character the BFG, Big
-
Not SyncedFriendly Giant, whose job was to collect
-
Not Syncedand blow pleasantries to small children.
-
Not SyncedRoald Dahl, Bill Bryson, Sheldon Ellis
-
Not SyncedSilberstein, Dr. Seuss, and other writers
-
Not Synceddid blow big dreams to me and every
-
Not Syncedother reader. I dream that one day I can
-
Not Syncedmake magic of my own as an author for
-
Not Syncedmyself, my friends, my kids, and other
-
Not Syncedchildren. Here, I want to share a poem
-
Not SyncedI wrote on a kite I made in
-
Not Syncedart class. Soaring above us like a bird, is
-
Not Synceda big, amazing kite, the wind is howling,
-
Not Syncedmaking it dance what a beautiful sight".
-
Not SyncedYes what a beautiful sight, but I know
-
Not Syncedmaking this dream come true will be a
-
Not Syncedvery long and slow process. I will keep
-
Not Syncedon reading and writing every day and
-
Not Syncedabove all, keep watching with glittering
-
Not Syncedeyes the whole world around me just like
-
Not SyncedRoald Dahl. And there's one thing I know
-
Not Syncedfor sure. Reading will be a lifelong love
-
Not Syncedfor me. I read because one life
-
Not Syncedis just not enough. Today I stand here to
-
Not Syncedshare my reading stories with you because
-
Not SyncedI believe that reading can light up the
-
Not Syncedwhole world.
-
Not SyncedSo, why not surround yourself with books.
-
Not SyncedSit down quietly and enjoy the words, the
-
Not Syncedpictures, and how they fit together so
-
Not Syncedbeautifully. At the end of my speech, I
-
Not Syncedwould like to recite one of my favorite
-
Not Syncedpoems.
-
Not SyncedNo one believes the whole book to ever
-
Not Syncedcome from something as simple as
-
Not Syncedbutterflies that don't even live that
-
Not Syncedlong, but on paper, sayings can live
-
Not Syncedforever, on paper, a butterfly never dies.
-
Not SyncedThank you.
