    [Music intro]
  • 0:06 - 0:08
    Welcome to Connect.
  • 0:08 - 0:11
Today we're going to give you a quick tour
of a proctored assignment in Connect
  • 0:11 - 0:13
    powered by Proctorio.
  • 0:13 - 0:16
    Let's get started.
  • 0:16 - 0:17
    Your proctored assignments will be
  • 0:17 - 0:21
    listed with all other homework
and reading assignments for your course.
  • 0:21 - 0:23
    You can see which
    assignments are proctored
  • 0:23 - 0:27
by looking for the Proctoring Enabled
    label in the assignment name
  • 0:27 - 0:30
and a shield icon on the
    right of the assignment listing.
  • 0:30 - 0:33
    When you're ready to start
    working on a Proctored assignment,
  • 0:33 - 0:37
    click the blue arrow.
  • 0:37 - 0:40
    A proctored assignment can
only be taken using the latest version
  • 0:40 - 0:44
    of a Chrome browser on
    a desktop, laptop, Mac,
  • 0:44 - 0:47
    Chromebook, or Microsoft Surface Tablet.
  • 0:47 - 0:52
Mobile and tablet devices are currently
    not supported for proctored assignments.
  • 0:52 - 0:55
    Proctored assignments also require
  • 0:55 - 0:57
    an extension to be
    added to the Chrome browser.
  • 0:57 - 1:00
    To install the Proctorio extension
    to your Chrome browser,
  • 1:00 - 1:03
click on the Browser Extension link.
  • 1:03 - 1:07
Depending on the settings your instructor
    selected for your proctored assignment,
  • 1:07 - 1:09
you may also need a form of payment
  • 1:09 - 1:13
    to pay a one-time
    proctoring fee for your course.
  • 1:13 - 1:15
A webcam and or a microphone.
  • 1:15 - 1:19
Please allow yourself some extra time
    to prepare, as proctored assignments
  • 1:19 - 1:23
require you to perform a pre-check
before you can take the assignment.
  • 1:23 - 1:26
However, if you're taking a timed
    assignment, don't worry.
  • 1:26 - 1:29
    The clock doesn't start
    until after the pre-check.
  • 1:29 - 1:32
    Click Continue to start
    the pre-check steps.
  • 1:32 - 1:35
If you did not add the
    Proctorio extension
  • 1:35 - 1:39
prior to starting the pre-check steps,
you'll be required to install the
  • 1:39 - 1:43
    Proctorio Chrome extension here.
  • 1:43 - 1:45
    Once you have installed the
    Proctorio Chrome extension,
  • 1:45 - 1:49
you won't have to do this again,
unless there is a new update.
  • 1:49 - 1:52
The extension will only be active while
    you're taking a proctored assignment.
  • 1:52 - 1:55
    Otherwise, it will be off.
  • 1:55 - 1:58
    The extension is displayed
in green when it is activated,
  • 1:58 - 2:01
and gray when it is off.
  • 2:01 - 2:04
Take a few minutes to review the
    Before You Begin page.
  • 2:04 - 2:08
This page provides you with details
on how the assignment is monitored.
  • 2:08 - 2:11
    You'll see what
    activities will be restricted
  • 2:11 - 2:14
    and what information will be
    collected during the assignment.
  • 2:14 - 2:17
You may also see information about
    your computer performance,
  • 2:17 - 2:21
    along with suggestions on
    how to improve performance.
  • 2:21 - 2:25
    Click Start Exam Pre-Checks to
    continue through the pre-checks steps.
  • 2:25 - 2:29
    Proctorio will perform a
    system diagnostics test
  • 2:29 - 2:33
to ensure you have good connectivity
    before proceeding with the assignment.
  • 2:33 - 2:35
    Depending on the settings
    selected for this assignment,
  • 2:35 - 2:38
    Proctorio may also ask
    you to provide permission
  • 2:38 - 2:41
to access your webcam or microphone.
  • 2:41 - 2:44
It may check to ensure your
    webcam and microphone are working.
  • 2:44 - 2:47
    Video recording requires a
    reliable internet connection
  • 2:47 - 2:49
    and good bandwidth.
  • 2:49 - 2:52
    Proctorio recommends that
    you have a bandwidth speed

    selected Record Screen,
  • 3:09 - 3:12
    Proctorio will also
    perform a desktop check,
  • 3:12 - 3:16
asking you to share the screen where
    you are taking your assignment.
  • 3:16 - 3:18
    To share your assignment screen,
  • 3:18 - 3:20
    click on the tile that
    shows your assignment
  • 3:20 - 3:22
    and then click Share.
  • 3:22 - 3:24
    If your instructor does
    not require Record Screen,
  • 3:24 - 3:28
you will not see this screen.
  • 3:28 - 3:31
    Your instructor may require
an ID check for your assignment.
  • 3:31 - 3:35
If an ID check is required,
you will need to have a photo ID ready.
  • 3:35 - 3:41
Hold up your ID to your webcam, aligning
the ID against the green outlined box.
  • 3:41 - 3:44
    This will allow the system
to scan your ID for verification.
  • 3:44 - 3:47
Depending on how your course is set up,
  • 3:47 - 3:49
    you may need to pay
    a one-time proctoring fee.
  • 3:49 - 3:52
    Click on Pay Course Fee
    to make a payment.
  • 3:52 - 3:57

    and even BitCoin are all
    acceptable forms of payment.
  • 4:00 - 4:02
Again, this is a one-time course fee.
  • 4:02 - 4:04
    Once you have paid,
  • 4:04 - 4:07
you won't see this screen again
for the duration of the course.
  • 4:07 - 4:10
    The final pre-check step
    is the exam agreement.
