The Lenfilm studio was completely destroyed during the leningrad siege, and most animation workers died from hunger during the siege. Tsekhanovsky and Pashchenko were saved and transferred to Soyuzmultfilm. The Lenfilm animation studio was never rebuild during the Soviet era. It had been a forerunner on the terrain of animation, and a safehaven for the avant-garde. In 1991, after the russian federation was declared, animation making at lenfilm was restarted, and a modernday avantgarde, Irina Yevteyeva, found her home there.
