MuseScore in Minutes: Publishing and Saving to the Cloud

  • 0:03 - 0:07
In MuseScore 4, you can save your
    scores privately to the cloud,
  • 0:07 - 0:09
and publish them when they're complete.
  • 0:09 - 0:12
All you need is a free musescore.com
    account to get started.
  • 0:12 - 0:15
If you don’t already have an account,
it’s easy to get one by clicking
  • 0:15 - 0:18
    “Create new account”
    from the accounts page.
  • 0:18 - 0:21
This gives you access to over a million
scores that you can view online,
  • 0:21 - 0:24
    or download and open in
    MuseScore for further editing.
  • 0:24 - 0:27
Next, all you have to do is save your score,
  • 0:27 - 0:31
and you’ll be offered the choice of storing it
either in the cloud or on your computer.
  • 0:31 - 0:36
We’ll select cloud storage for now, give
our score a name, and hit "Save".
  • 0:36 - 0:38
The first time we do this,
  • 0:38 - 0:41
MuseScore will ask whether we also
want to upload audio with the score.
  • 0:41 - 0:43
Now this is really up to you.
  • 0:43 - 0:46
    Thanks to our brand new
    playback engine, VST support,
  • 0:46 - 0:49
and the amazing new Muse Sounds library,
  • 0:49 - 0:54
your scores can now be heard on musescore.com
    with beautiful, realistic playback.
  • 0:54 - 0:58
If you’ve installed MuseSounds or are using
a VST, then this is the audio you’ll get
  • 0:58 - 1:01
    when you publish your score
    for the world to see.
  • 1:01 - 1:03
    However, if you’re just saving
    privately to the cloud,
  • 1:03 - 1:06
you might choose to keep only
the basic playback on the website,
  • 1:06 - 1:10
which can speed up the time it takes
MuseScore to save and upload your file.
  • 1:10 - 1:14
We’ll leave this option set to “never” for now,
but we can always change it at any time,
  • 1:14 - 1:18
    by opening Preferences, and going
over here to the “Cloud” section.
  • 1:18 - 1:23
Now that we’ve saved our score, you can
easily view it online by clicking this button,
  • 1:23 - 1:27
where you’ll see that your file is in your
    score manager with private visibility,
  • 1:27 - 1:29
meaning no one else can see it.
  • 1:29 - 1:33
Any changes you save will be here for you
    – and only you – to see.
  • 1:33 - 1:36
Once you’ve finished working on your score,
    you can make it public
  • 1:36 - 1:41
for other users to listen to, comment on,
    like, share and download.
  • 1:41 - 1:46
In MuseScore, just click on the "Publish" tab,
    and choose “Publish to musescore.com”.
  • 1:46 - 1:49
You can also find this option
    in the "File" menu.
  • 1:49 - 1:54
Once your score is public, any changes you
save will be visible to the world.
  • 1:54 - 1:57
Saving scores to the cloud is a crucial
first step, that will pave the way
  • 1:57 - 2:02
for other score sharing and collaboration features
that we’d like to develop for future releases.
  • 2:02 - 2:04
