It's expected to be the most traveled holiday weekend perhaps in decades.
-
Fear not though, we've got tips to make it a lot less stressful.
-
Yay.
-
Now, we're a family of five, with four-year-old Georgia here,
and our twins, Perry and Alan.
-
And look, they're really good kids, but the thought of loading them up in the van
-
and making 'em sit in what could be hours of traffic on Memorial Day weekend,
-
sounds really stressful and is gonna take a lot of planning.
-
Parenting expert, Marissa Brannie is sharing great ideas
she's already tested out on her own three kids.
-
Tell us about these trays.
-
These are my lifesavers.
-
I found these, I think in the dollar section at Target, but they
have them at a variety of different stores.
-
Right. - They're really lap desks,
-
but a lot of different options out there on the market.
-
But what's so great about them is they have the different compartments,
and they fit right over the kids' seats.
-
Right.
-
So it's perfect for in the car.
-
What I like to do is I actually pack these ahead of time, but I don't show the kids
what's in them.
-
Smart, smart.
-
So it's a surprise?
-
It's a surprise.
-
What are these bags labeled hour one, hour two, hour three?
-
For a longer trip, you can kind of tell them,
-
okay, once we're one hour into the trip, we're gonna have a little surprise bag.
-
And, you know, it depends on the kid,
-
but I put everything in here from like a new little activity pad that I get,
you know, at the Dollar store,
-
to even something that I already have that they haven't seen in a while.
-
What about on airplanes?
-
Our expert says kids just need to be kept busy.
-
Some favorites I have are reusable drawing boards of any kind.
-
I mean, we have a ton of different options in my house.
-
And the best part about this is honestly like no mess.
-
So whether it's by car or plane, here's hoping for a memorable Memorial Day,
and a fun trip with the kids.
-
Yay.
