THIS IS WHY ONLY 1% SUCCEED | An Eye Opening Interview with Robert Kiyosaki

  • 0:00 - 0:01
    The reason I wrote
  • 0:01 - 0:02
The Rich Dad Poor Dad was
  • 0:02 - 0:04
Because I knew this time was coming
  • 0:04 - 0:08
    [Music]
  • 0:08 - 0:12
And we have as world have never been here before
  • 0:12 - 0:14
and so it's a spooky time
  • 0:14 - 0:15
    Damn yet
  • 0:15 - 0:17
It's probably the most dangerous time
  • 0:17 - 0:19
    Ever ever ever ever
  • 0:19 - 0:21
There's nothing to compare it to
  • 0:21 - 0:23
because there's never been a world economy before
  • 0:23 - 0:24
    For example
  • 0:24 - 0:26
    you know 100 years ago
  • 0:26 - 0:28
if there was a stock market crash in England
  • 0:28 - 0:30
    Didn't affect anybody
  • 0:30 - 0:31
but now the US market goes down
  • 0:31 - 0:33
    the world goes down
  • 0:33 - 0:35
    So plus with social media
  • 0:35 - 0:37
and all this we're doing right now
  • 0:37 - 0:39
so we've never been here before
  • 0:39 - 0:41
    and
  • 0:41 - 0:42
    You know I
  • 0:42 - 0:44
    I'm excited about it
  • 0:44 - 0:46
Because I make more money in crashes
  • 0:46 - 0:48
than I do when they go up
  • 0:48 - 0:50
so but for the average person
  • 0:50 - 0:51
    they'll get wiped out
  • 0:51 - 0:53
    I'm afraid at the worst
  • 0:53 - 0:54
    I hope I'm wrong
  • 0:54 - 0:55
but I think we head for
  • 0:55 - 0:57
    a global depression
  • 0:57 - 0:59
    How does this play out
  • 0:59 - 1:01
    for the average worker
  • 1:01 - 1:03
    for the small business owner
  • 1:03 - 1:05
I mean what's the next 3 months look like?
  • 1:05 - 1:06
    because it doesn't look preaty
  • 1:06 - 1:08
I mean people are already being laid off
  • 1:08 - 1:09
    made redundant
  • 1:09 - 1:10
    businesses are
  • 1:10 - 1:12
there's no cash flow in most of these businesses
  • 1:12 - 1:14
    How does that play out?
  • 1:14 - 1:15
    Well let me give you
  • 1:15 - 1:16
    one more step
  • 1:16 - 1:18
just to give you the size of it okay
  • 1:18 - 1:22
The national debt for WW2 was 25 billions
  • 1:23 - 1:25
    Everyday today
  • 1:25 - 1:29
    Everyday they're printing 125 billions
  • 1:29 - 1:31
    Every single day
  • 1:31 - 1:34
that's like five WW2 per day
  • 1:34 - 1:36
    They're printing so much money
  • 1:36 - 1:38
to keep this think a hot of air balloon
  • 1:38 - 1:40
    with a tear in it
  • 1:40 - 1:42
    and they're doing desperately
  • 1:42 - 1:43
    trying to fix this tear
  • 1:43 - 1:45
but no matter how hard they try
  • 1:45 - 1:46
    the tear has gone beyond
  • 1:46 - 1:47
    it's coming down
  • 1:47 - 1:49
    so in financial terms
  • 1:49 - 1:51
    it's called out debt-to-GDP
  • 1:51 - 1:53
has now gone from 60% to 90%
  • 1:53 - 1:54
    to 105%
  • 1:54 - 1:56
    it's going to 120%
  • 1:56 - 1:57
    we're bankrupt
  • 1:57 - 1:58
and they are going to print
  • 1:58 - 1:59
    more and more money
  • 1:59 - 2:00
    which means savers are losers
  • 2:00 - 2:02
    just as I predicted
  • 2:02 - 2:03
your money is going to be worthless
  • 2:03 - 2:04
    in a few years
  • 2:04 - 2:05
    So
  • 2:05 - 2:07
    my messages is same
  • 2:07 - 2:09
as some of your other guests
  • 2:09 - 2:11
    this is metamorphosis time
  • 2:11 - 2:13
Financial education in Rich Dad's terms
  • 2:13 - 2:17
    is really financial transformation
  • 2:17 - 2:19
    and the definition of metamorphosis
  • 2:19 - 2:21
    is very important
  • 2:21 - 2:22
    Metamorphosis
  • 2:22 - 2:23
    The definition is
  • 2:23 - 2:25
    the evolution or the transformation
  • 2:26 - 2:28
    from an immature form
  • 2:29 - 2:31
    to an adult form
  • 2:31 - 2:33
    an immature form
  • 2:33 - 2:35
    to an adult form
  • 2:35 - 2:38
Metamorphosis is the same as a caterpillar
  • 2:38 - 2:40
    turning into butterfly
  • 2:40 - 2:41
    and Fuller always said
  • 2:41 - 2:42
    "There is nothing to predict
  • 2:42 - 2:44
    a butterfly inside a caterpillar
  • 2:44 - 2:46
    So anybody listening right now
  • 2:46 - 2:48
    if you're struggling financially
  • 2:48 - 2:49
    just thinking of yourself
  • 2:49 - 2:51
    as a little caterpillar
  • 2:51 - 2:52
and this crisis is your cocoon
  • 2:54 - 2:55
    The question is
  • 2:55 - 2:57
    what do you emerge as
  • 2:57 - 2:58
Do you emerge as a victim?
  • 2:58 - 2:59
    You know
  • 2:59 - 3:01
"that the world did that to a man"
  • 3:01 - 3:02
    and "the capitalist are crooks"
  • 3:02 - 3:04
    "the rich are bastards"
  • 3:04 - 3:05
    and all this stuffs
  • 3:05 - 3:05
    or do you say
  • 3:05 - 3:07
    "Oh"
  • 3:07 - 3:08
"this is the best thing that ever
  • 3:08 - 3:09
    happened to me"
  • 3:09 - 3:11
    The same as my health
  • 3:11 - 3:14
I am groundzero for the coronavirus
  • 3:14 - 3:15
    all that does
  • 3:15 - 3:18
is inspire me to get healthier
  • 3:18 - 3:19
    You're either going to
  • 3:19 - 3:21
    get healthier and wealthier
  • 3:21 - 3:22
or your going to go bust
  • 3:22 - 3:23
    Your choice
  • 3:23 - 3:25
    It's between your ears
  • 3:25 - 3:26
    your heart
  • 3:26 - 3:26
    your body
  • 3:26 - 3:27
    your mind
  • 3:27 - 3:28
    your spirit
  • 3:28 - 3:29
    your attitude
  • 3:29 - 3:30
This could be the best thing
  • 3:30 - 3:31
    that ever happened to you
  • 3:31 - 3:32
    Physically
  • 3:32 - 3:33
    mentally
  • 3:33 - 3:34
    emotionally
  • 3:34 - 3:35
    spiritually
  • 3:35 - 3:37
If you turn out to a butterfly
  • 3:37 - 3:39
or somebody will step on you
  • 3:39 - 3:40
    like a little worm
  • 3:40 - 3:41
    it's your choice
  • 3:46 - 3:49
Now if you are in trouble today
  • 3:49 - 3:50
my messege is not so kind
  • 3:50 - 3:54
this is hard talk not happy talk
  • 3:54 - 3:56
The crisis is in your head
  • 3:56 - 3:58
    now that's the bad news
  • 3:59 - 4:00
    The good news
  • 4:00 - 4:02
you can change the crisis by changing
  • 4:02 - 4:03
    what's inside your head
  • 4:03 - 4:05
    and so I'm doing
  • 4:05 - 4:06
    I'm hating brag
  • 4:06 - 4:08
but I'm doing extremely well financially today
  • 4:08 - 4:10
because as I was warning everybody
  • 4:10 - 4:12
    this crisis was coming
  • 4:12 - 4:15
but it would be irresponsible of me
  • 4:15 - 4:17
to warning people of the crisis
  • 4:17 - 4:21
and not personally make changes myself
  • 4:21 - 4:22
    So the good news is
  • 4:22 - 4:24
    the crisis in your head
  • 4:24 - 4:26
the bad news it is in your head
  • 4:27 - 4:29
the most important thing you can have
  • 4:29 - 4:30
not now is not job security
  • 4:30 - 4:32
    but meaningful work
  • 4:32 - 4:34
So you and I don't need the money
  • 4:34 - 4:35
    but our work is meaningful
  • 4:35 - 4:38
    and it's our meaningful work
  • 4:38 - 4:40
that get's us through the hard times
  • 4:40 - 4:42
    So the good news is
  • 4:42 - 4:43
    my company is sold out
  • 4:43 - 4:45
we can not keep up the product
  • 4:45 - 4:48
The bad news is supply chain shutdown
  • 4:48 - 4:50
    but that's a good problem
  • 4:50 - 4:52
    We have tons of cash
  • 4:52 - 4:53
    I've gold I've silver
  • 4:55 - 4:58
I do have challenges in the real estate market
  • 4:58 - 4:59
but that's going to make me stronger
  • 4:59 - 5:01
that's my own attitude I can have
  • 5:01 - 5:03
otherwise I just cry and said well
  • 5:03 - 5:05
the government should take care of me
  • 5:05 - 5:08
I need a bailout money understandable
  • 5:08 - 5:09
    So what can I do?
  • 5:09 - 5:11
I'm one of them. What do I do?
  • 5:11 - 5:12
This would go back to employee
  • 5:12 - 5:14
    self employee business owner
  • 5:14 - 5:16
It's investor like go find the business
  • 5:16 - 5:17
    go start the business
  • 5:17 - 5:19
    go reposition yourself career-wise
  • 5:19 - 5:21
    you know is there a
  • 5:21 - 5:23
    1-2-3 steps processes on
  • 5:23 - 5:25
what I can do to be prepared for it
  • 5:25 - 5:28
I have a friend in Panama
  • 5:28 - 5:29
    He has avocado farm
  • 5:30 - 5:31
    So he say it again
  • 5:31 - 5:33
    Panama growing avocados
  • 5:33 - 5:35
he says good people have to eat
  • 5:35 - 5:37
Another guys friend of mine grew blueberries
  • 5:37 - 5:39
    but another friend of mine
  • 5:41 - 5:43
he is from Seattle excuse me
  • 5:43 - 5:45
he had a big house his kids all move out
  • 5:45 - 5:47
so he converts the kids bedrooms
  • 5:47 - 5:48
    into one-bedroom appartments
  • 5:50 - 5:51
    So he put a ktichen
  • 5:51 - 5:52
    and he put a toilet
  • 5:52 - 5:55
    inside a little bedroom
  • 5:55 - 5:57
and so he know rents out four bedrooms
  • 5:57 - 5:59
he is making more money today than before
  • 5:59 - 6:00
    because a lot of workers
  • 6:00 - 6:01
    commute to Seattle
  • 6:02 - 6:03
    So they come in
  • 6:03 - 6:04
    they check in
  • 6:04 - 6:05
the come in on Sunday night
  • 6:05 - 6:07
they check out on Saturday afernoon
  • 6:10 - 6:12
So the point is everybody can do something
  • 6:12 - 6:13
but you got to figure out
  • 6:13 - 6:15
    what you going to do
  • 6:20 - 6:22
    Well the reason
  • 6:22 - 6:23
the rich don't work for money
  • 6:23 - 6:25
    is no 1 expensive tax
  • 6:25 - 6:27
See there are 3 kinds of income
  • 6:27 - 6:28
    Earned
  • 6:28 - 6:29
    Portfolio
  • 6:29 - 6:30
    Passive
  • 6:31 - 6:32
So earn income is if I get a job
  • 6:32 - 6:34
    it's earned income
  • 6:34 - 6:36
If I am a doctor or programmer
  • 6:36 - 6:37
    that's earned income
  • 6:37 - 6:39
    because I'm working for it
  • 6:40 - 6:42
If I buy us if I buy let say apple for $10
  • 6:42 - 6:44
    and sent it for $20
  • 6:44 - 6:45
    that's a
  • 6:46 - 6:47
    porfolio income
  • 6:48 - 6:49
    capital gains
  • 6:50 - 6:52
but passive incomes which is cash flow
  • 6:54 - 6:55
    It's never tax
  • 6:55 - 6:56
    So it's not
  • 6:56 - 6:58
and that's all these guys are screaming
  • 6:58 - 6:59
    right now in America
  • 6:59 - 7:03
"Tax the rich" I said goodluck
  • 7:03 - 7:05
because most of those guys complaining
  • 7:05 - 7:07
they don't know those 3 kinds of incomes
  • 7:07 - 7:10
and the rich don't have jobs anyway
  • 7:10 - 7:12
    they have assets
  • 7:12 - 7:14
and so the average small out there
  • 7:14 - 7:16
poor guy you know sent the kids to school
  • 7:16 - 7:18
    they don't learn this
  • 7:18 - 7:19
So that's why a fake because
  • 7:19 - 7:20
    you were talking about it
  • 7:20 - 7:22
    It's a newspaper article
  • 7:22 - 7:23
    about Jarred Kushner
  • 7:23 - 7:26
and he explained how the Trumps and Kushner
  • 7:26 - 7:27
    don't pay taxes
  • 7:27 - 7:28
    and make million of dollars
  • 7:28 - 7:31
and the reporter couldn't understand him
  • 7:31 - 7:32
    because they're not
  • 7:32 - 7:36
our school never teach that 3 types of income
  • 7:36 - 7:36
    and they judge him
  • 7:36 - 7:38
    and say they're wrong
  • 7:38 - 7:38
    and it's cheating
  • 7:38 - 7:40
and we see it over and over again
  • 7:40 - 7:42
    Amazon not paying taxes
  • 7:42 - 7:43
What do you say to people when they come
  • 7:43 - 7:45
to say "Robert, that's not fair."
  • 7:45 - 7:47
"It's not fair. They aren't paying taxes."
  • 7:47 - 7:49
Well there are always 3 sides to a coin
  • 7:49 - 7:51
you know, heads, tails and the edge
  • 7:52 - 7:53
    you know
  • 7:53 - 7:54
So which side of the coin on you are?
  • 7:54 - 7:56
    From my side it's fair
  • 7:56 - 7:57
    But this is the difference
  • 7:57 - 7:59
everybody can do it the same thing I do
  • 7:59 - 8:02
The Tax Laws are for everybody
  • 8:02 - 8:03
    They don't say
  • 8:03 - 8:05
"well the tax is only for the rich" No.
  • 8:05 - 8:08
The Tax Laws are for everybody to use
  • 8:08 - 8:11
if you've the right financial education
  • 8:11 - 8:13
And the reason I'm advocate of
  • 8:13 - 8:14
    financial education
  • 8:14 - 8:15
    without that education
  • 8:15 - 8:17
    You have to pay taxes.
  • 8:17 - 8:19
You see very few people will buy
  • 8:19 - 8:20
    what I do
  • 8:21 - 8:24
make a million of dollars pay zero tax
  • 8:24 - 8:26
    that takes
  • 8:26 - 8:27
And my rich dad taught me
  • 8:27 - 8:28
    that playing monopoly
  • 8:28 - 8:29
    That's how it turns
  • 8:29 - 8:33
You need 4 green houses and 1 red hotel
  • 8:33 - 8:35
or the Mc Donald's one. I write about that
  • 8:35 - 8:36
    Mc Donalds Ray Kroc
  • 8:36 - 8:37
    Yeah
  • 8:37 - 8:38
Mc Donald's is in the real estate business
  • 8:38 - 8:40
    So they sell humbergers
  • 8:40 - 8:41
    but they but real estate
  • 8:41 - 8:42
    so they pay no taxes
  • 8:43 - 8:44
    You know this guys Bezos
  • 8:44 - 8:46
    he is 16 billion dollars
  • 8:46 - 8:49
how much taxes he pays under 16 billions
  • 8:50 - 8:51
    zero
  • 8:51 - 8:53
    And that's all legal
  • 8:53 - 8:54
    Anyone can do it
  • 8:54 - 8:55
    Everybody can do it
  • 8:55 - 8:57
But everyone. Most people lack the education
  • 8:57 - 8:58
    Correct
  • 8:58 - 9:00
    So Jarrod learn about money
  • 9:00 - 9:00
    when he was a kid
  • 9:00 - 9:01
    by watching his father
  • 9:01 - 9:03
by watching his people in real estate and said
  • 9:03 - 9:07
Wow. Not only you get to make the money, you get to keep the money.
  • 9:07 - 9:09
That's a big problem a lot of people don't understand
  • 9:09 - 9:12
Look at how much money I make but how much do you keep
  • 9:12 - 9:16
Because it can be half [The tax that you pay].
  • 9:16 - 9:19
And so when you always say this is the law. The law is true for every citizen.
  • 9:19 - 9:22
You can do it but most people just don't do it.
  • 9:22 - 9:24
Sometimes like you said they don't have the education
  • 9:24 - 9:26
Because you need to have a plan
  • 9:26 - 9:29
If you going to do risky thing
  • 9:29 - 9:32
Well it's not risky. I mean to me what's risky is having a job
  • 9:32 - 9:34
    and paying taxes. [Yeah]
  • 9:34 - 9:37
And saving money because they're printing.
  • 9:38 - 9:39
    You know
  • 9:39 - 9:40
That's the worst thing of all.
  • 9:40 - 9:42
    That's why does fake money
