-
Hi, I'm Adrianus Kundert.
-
I'm a product designer
and basketry enthusiast.
-
I specialize in products,
textiles, and spatial design,
-
and have collaborated
with Crafts Council Nederland,
-
SUSAN BIJL, and Jongeriuslab.
-
I'm also co-founder
of the Instagram-based initiative,
-
Basketclub.
-
I'm passionate about anything
that transforms.
-
The way raw materials
can be turned into
-
functional and contemporary objects
with ancient crafts intrigues me.
-
Designing is both a mental
and a physical activity.
-
I achieve my best
when I simply trust my hands
-
rather than overthinking a plan.
-
In this way,
I really get to know and enjoy
-
the materials that I'm working with.
-
In this Domestika course,
-
you will learn the art
of weaving for basketry.
-
For the final project,
-
you will create a tote bag
made with the triaxial weave.
-
We will begin by doing
a few experiments together,
-
beginning with the biaxial
and triaxial weave in 2D
-
and then moving on
to some 3D techniques.
-
We will round this out
with a thorough look
-
at our color and material options.
-
We will sketch our design
and cut the material.
-
Once we're ready, we can start weaving.
-
We will create the base of the tote.
-
We will build up the sides
and, finally, add the handles.
-
By the end of this course,
-
you will be able to create
basketry pieces for many situations.
-
You will need colored paper,
cutting tools, paper clamps, straps,
-
or some other materials
to make your bag.
-
A little bit of weaving
and sewing experience will be handy.
-
So let’s weave some cool stuff together.
